Mbeumo for Wissa perhaps, although Wissa looked the more dangerous yesterday. Toney needs to be an out-and-out striker, not dropping deep.

Here lies a big problem. I really like your team other than one position! You can’t drop Ethan for Pontus and I don’t see Pontus being dropped (I actually think he’s been playing well recently). So you either have to play Ajer at RB or drop him. I don’t think TF will do either so back to 3 at the back I suspect.

I know I’m being Captain Hindsight here but I wonder how much Burnley paid for Conner Roberts? *dons Tin Hat

What I don’t get is that loads on here think he’s a great player but not one person has put him in the starting line up ? Wtf is that all about….if frank sees this he won’t be happy ????

I think they’ve given up now, he looks stylish and fooled them but now we have to hope that TF has seen the light too.

Danish television made an analyse of Brentford with Eriksen last week, They argued he should have a free role behind the attackers, so that he gets in position to make the passes behind opponent defence.
This gives a 3-4-1-2 system

Whether it's the right team in the right formation I can't be bothered to comment upon anymore but I think TF will go with this set-up against Norwich.

Ajer ain't no RB and I can't see an alternative given Rashica looked lively against us in the previous match.

Hopefully CE will provide the link that is sorely missing and will impose some level of composure in our general play.

He wasn’t fit enough to start or come on to allow an early rejig when JDS sent off (we could only play one up top if he was the one- no point in just Bryan or Yoane on their own) but I hope with another week of recovery and training he will be.

Sergi worked hard and was busy up front v Leeds. Mbeumo is better running towards the goal and cutting in on his left foot.

We played with 2CBs yesterday so why might we revert to 3CBs after just one game (or 11 mins playing 433).

Started with 3 at the back yesterday. Became 2 CBs when Ajer was pushed out to RB after Josh was sent off. 2 CBs wasn't the chosen system, was the reactive one.

Maybe impact sub for last 10/15 mins if we're pushing for a winner.

Josh was not playing RWB yesterday. Or if he was he was doing it incredibly badly even before being sent off.

Ok, it doesn't really matter. I didn't see it that way but the shape didn't really develop anyway. The first 10 minutes were mainly Newcastle dominating possession in the Bees half.

It's been 3-5-2 most of the season. I've not seen Ajer in a planned right back role. Did that happen before?

IMO I'd like to see the 3-5-2 at Norwich. It's been the adopted system most of the season, the players are used to it. Should be given a chance with Christian pulling some strings in the middle. I hope!

On the form of the last 6 Games, Brentford are joint bottom with Leeds, Burnley are 7th and Norwich are 9th!

Doesn't get any easier does it? The dream midfield trio of Norgaard, DaSilva and Eriksen will have to wait a while, but at least we've now gone from Norgaard plus 2 to Norgaard + Eriksen plus 1, although it doesn't look likely he'll last the full 90 yet. Who to play in that third role though is still a bit of a toss up. Jensen flattered for a few games but has been awful the last couple. Janelt has really struggled with the step up technically, and offered little on the ball on Sat, Baptiste generally goes AWOL and Onyeka's just not good enough if we're looking to play. Ghoddos at times has looked a decent combo of work off the ball and ability on it but then he's had a couple of stinkers when he's started too. I think given Eriksen's lack of match fitness means we'll need someone to do the donkey work for him off the ball which points to either Janelt or Onyeka. Easy choice for Vitaly there. Jensen likely to come on when CE's legs have gone.

We experimented with 4 at the back v Newcastle and it has to be said it was not a great success. Ajer really struggled at RB and it left Pontus and Pinnock heavily exposed in the centre. If we're going to persist with that then we need someone who can play at RB which leaves us with basically Roerslev, Stevens or Oyegoke. Roerslev for me is the pick there but if he plays we need a bit more pace at RCB which points to Ajer ahead of Pontus. Pinnock is a natural LCB so he stays put as does Rico at LB.

Up front is another dilemma. Wissa looked lively at times but equally disinterested in others. Doesn't seem to have got the hang of our pressing game as yet. Mbeumo had a rare bad one but he's an automatic pick for me.. Toney didn't look fit but we need him to start to give us better options going forward. With 3 up front I'd revert to our more succesful Championship set up with Canos wide left and Mbeumo wide right, both capable of cutting in.

I disagree. I was at the Leeds match and I thought Sergi put in a really good shift there in a difficult away match. The Bees are so blunt up front a bit of energy is needed. I think he'd be a good fit away at Norwich.
