Surely yesterday reinforced the view that Woodman should not be starting matches for us. Wasted so much yesterday, so static.

I think that we need to have Reeves back in the team as he seems to have the creativity to play the "telling" pass, this would give a midfield of McGinn, Douglas, Reeves and Diagoura which I accept is somewhat lop sided, an alternative would be to have Reeves or Forrester if fit playing ahead of Dave and Diagoura with Just the one striker.

Not so easy this picking of teams as I need to play 13/14 to fit everyone in and think the league might just have an issue with that!!!

They are a very physical and direct side. So you can make your assumption on selection on that basis.

I'd go with a 4-2-3-1 for this game. For large parts of yesterday's match we were playing a 4-4-1-1 with McGinn just behind Donaldson, and Bean playing on the right. This seemed to suit McGinn, and I think we should adapt it at home by playing more attacking players on the wings - so I'd bring in Saunders and Wood (assuming Weston is injured) for Bean and Adams. This formation should also allow us to keep the ball better than a 4-4-2, and is more attacking than the recent 4-5-1/4-3-3.

Thompson goes back on Wednesday anyway, so I'd bring Logan back for this one, with Woodman at left-back as I think he's better in the air than Adams (which might be needed!). Osborne and Llera to continue, but Karleigh needs to get back up to the level he was playing at last season soon or risk losing his place to Eger.

It depends upon who is fit and UR might well decide to revert to 442 but I suspect that he could well prefer to play 3 solid midfielders to combat Stevenage's strength and power.

I believe Douglas is suspended, or does that start on Saturday?

Has he not now collected 5 yellow cards?

Team vs Stevenage

Time to drop Douglas, not at his best for a while. What has happened to golden boy Reeves? If we are still going to be lightweight upfront with a lack of strikers, can we at least try either Weston or McGinn or Forrester upfront with Donaldinhio? Please get fit soon Leon Legge!

You mention reeves, yet don't put him in your team...

I think it might be good for him to be involved. And the team..

Hopefully we'll knock the ball about a bit more than the Scunny game (wasn't at County) especially against a side who look direct- interestingly though, Stevenage were apparently the fittest side in the football league last season so it'll be a test for us to stay on our toes for the whole 90 minutes.

I think Uwe's just not playing Reeves too much given that Diagouraga's come in to fill the position, but I also believe that Uwe doesn't want to risk burning him out given his age. A good player though and I look forward to seeing him more in the future.

Lee.
O'Connor, Osborne, Llera, Adams
Saunders, Diagouraga, Douglas, McGinn.
Donaldson, Grella.

Subs: Moore, Logan, Eger, Bean, Wood.

I think it's time to try and stick to a 4-4-2 system at home, and Grella is potentially the best available option. Who knows over 90 minutes maybe he'll show what he's worth. My guesses also take into account that I think Myles may not be fit for the game.

It can work at home, but given the home form of late I believe that measures need to be taken to change that, and a return to the formation that worked in our first few games could be wise. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4-3-3 tomorrow though, given Rosler doesn't seem overly keen on starting with Grella.

Worth a try, Mcginn free role worth a trial unless we recruit a forward before tomorrow. :sorted:

haven't gone through the whole thread but like the look of 'alexcavell's team you refer to...
would maybe keep Adams so we attack, attack, attack and play to our strengths more than worrying about their big lump tactics.

could also possibly try thompson right back, and logan playing as an out and out winger, obviously only one game to go on but he looked brilliant going forward and leaving him up there could work wonders.
also from twitter i gather wood isn't playing tomorrow

Team vs Stevenage

If logans fit which I think he is and woodman off form and Adams not good enough imo and us playing better when our captain plays I'd put logan at lb and koc at rb.
I think Logan can play both sides.
Lee
Koc ko llera Logan
Saunders dave bean Douglas Mcginn
Donaldo
Grella Moore eger weston wood

Team vs Stevenage

Lee
Thompson Osborne Llera Adams
Douglas O'Connor Dave
Weston Claydo McGinn

Moore, Eger, Bean, Saunders, Grella.

Last chance for Thompson Uwe said in Chronny.
Weston restored to lineup.
Saunders over Wood on bench as at home.

Team vs Stevenage

Looking forward to seeing Logan play as I missed Yeovil at home.
I have a feeling Stevenage may try & kick lumps out of McGinn & Donaldson.
