Assuming he plays2 up front the MF selection is going to be very interesting as IMO it will be Douglas, Saunders and 2 from Forshaw, Reeves,and Diagouraga. Can't see Forrester and Sam playing in the same team if we start with 2 up front.

Uwe has told us he wants and expects 3 players to come in,Midfielder Striker & Left Back l expect all that to happen before the Bury game and some before the Walsall game.

Thanks, I'm guessing a left back will happen and just hoping that budget allows for another quality striker.

I'm not as worried as before about midfield as believe that either Adam or Harry F ready to step up and share the responsibility with Jon D.

I think the striker is a necessity and figures crossed its Hayes even if it's only a loan.

Too early to pick a team - I'd expect at least one signing before then and probably an injury in the Wycombe game! Given how well the system worked at the end of last season away from home, I'd probably favour a 4-4-1-1, though as it's the League Cup we could use it as an opportunity to bed in a different formation away.

No argument here, just surprised if Hayes is still a target why it's taken him so long, really hope he's held out to join us rather than no one else prepared to meet his demands.

Assuming that Uwe will play his strongest team for the Walsall game, and also taking into account a variety of formations that may be used, and possibly some more new faces arriving this week, I am really struggling to pick a team for saturday.

The only shoe-ins to start IMHO are: Dean, Logan, Douglas and Donaldson. The fifth would probably be Craig, but don't know in which position he will play (CB or LB?). This leaves us with over half the team left to stake their place, and lots of interesting competitions/situations to resolve before saturday.

If Uwe thinks he's ahead of other midfielders or Logan at right back then fine, as for despising him, utterbollox.

Way I see it as well, suspect he'll be on the bench unless injuries kick in but he's capable of providing decent cover if called upon in most positions across the back and midfield. A football brain and may well be used with half an hour left as a wise head with fresh legs to hopefully help close games out. If he is a regular starter I'd be concerned as suggests we haven't made as much progress as I believe.

I think you're right, he's great cover in a number of positions and will be a good option and a definite asset in certain types of game coming off the bench.

UR recently publicly welcomed the return of Kev to the fold so it would be strange if he has a change of mind and offloads him so soon after, especially given his versatility and the obvious lack of depth in the squad. If honest I wouldn't be totally surprised if Dave was released, undoubted talent but very inconsistent and difficult to gauge which combination he fits into best. He's one who I really rated when we got him on loan and while he hasn't let us down, he's not been as vital to us as I had expected.

Usually maybe but not always,l have no inside knowledge about Kev going but l do know we have a rigid budget that must be nearly spent dispite unloading some wages with recent departures.So the obvious solution will be to try and move on what could be fringe players this season Dave Kev and Weston spring to mind.

King Kev has played really well in preseason after a long injury and recovery. I reckon he will start a fair few games, playing as the holding centre midfield.
Model pro and Brentford till he dies! Uwe has spoken highly of him and he's been under some crap mangers and some very good ones, he's still here! also good cover at right back. He's not the quickest but he makes up for it with his experience and knowledge.

I am not king kev's biggest fan I recognise that when he doesn't play it has a detrimental impact on our performance and I always end up leaving the ground saying if only kev had played it could have been so different. This is particularly true at away games

Harry is playing really good but Saunders really progressed last season and was our top goal scorer
