Team vs Wimbledon

If we'd won I'd have liked to see more B testers given a go, but I think the need for a confidence boosting win is amplified now.

I also think that there will be certain players that would get very annoyed about not getting a chance in the first XI off the back of a defeat. Therefore I would go with....

Bentley
Colin Dean Barbet Field
Woods Nico
Sawyers
Clarke Maupay Watkins

(Crazy to think only Bentley managed a start yesterday from that team)

However I think we will play something more like:

Daniels
Clarke Dean Mepham Field
Nico Woods
Cole
Archibald Maupay Jozefzoon

Can see this being Exeter all over again. We always fail miserably in the cups. Having said that, this is the best strength in depth we've had for years.

Not yet.

I think Cole Mepham and Field (as well as possibly Shaibu) will get loan deals but we're waiting until after Wimbledon as we may want them to be involved in that first.

It will be largely a 2nd XI and no-one at BFC will be bothered by the result (as with the previous 4/5 years). I'm surprised fans turn up for this one, then complain, as they know what to expect by now.

Please do not make 11 changes, we need to get the team gelled, Dean in , Egan out. Perhaps give Watkins a go ahead of Zoom, don't want to risk losing him with Canos out maybe Yennaris for Mokotjo other than that go again and change after 60 if game looks won ?

I'd be inclined to give Mokotjo another start, yesterday showed he needs to get used to the pace of English football so would keep him in.

So you seriously don't think Barbet, Sawyers or Watkins will start after not getting a start yesterday ? Don't give up the day job.

are you fick or something :scratch: he literally names all three in the lineup HE would go for. and then gives another lineup based on what he thinks Smith would do (which is a bit weird but anyway...) - don't give up the day job :)

it's hard to see us being "weak" even if we change the team drastically. Colin-Dean-Barbet-Field seems an obvious back four, plus Maupay up front - but i have no bloody idea what i'd do with the other five outfield players. depends on fitness etc. if Nico can start then he probably needs to get that gametime in his legs. Watkins has been used as a centre-mid (no.10) but came on as part of the front three yesterday, so i'd play him but not sure which role. and three others depending on fit ;)

Smith selects the team and BFC1997 thinks he (Smith) will omit Barbet, Sawyers & Watkins (and also Colin) - I repeat don't give up the day job BFC1997.
There is zero chance that Smith will omit any of them as he has a squad of 23 to keep happy.

As for you Mr Tree, I guess your bark is worse than your blight ! Does the guy sat behind you ever get to see Woods ?:)

i don't think there is such a job as "person who predicts what teams football managers will pick", but if there is, i agree with you that i wouldn't nominate BFC1997 for it :)

Are you surprised that fans turn up and complain, or surprised that fans turn up? Because I don't mind what team
Dean Smith picks, as I just want to go and watch what could be a good game. Taking a few mates who don't see
Brentford that much, have a few beers, and its just down the road, and after Saturday, need a boost.

Risking Woods in this match, not giving him a rest ahead of 2 home matches within a week would be madness IMO

Mainly because I couldn't see another game where Clarke might play whereas I can see plenty for Colin if he stays.

Lets play our strongest team and have a cup run. All this chopping and changing has done us no good over the last few seasons. It takes us time to gel a team and get going so use this as a chance to Gel in a competitive game. Get a few goals up and then make the changes. If this is another Oxford, Exeter etc etc then no lessons have been learned!!!!!

Barbet is going to be so pissed if they start playing him at left back again. He wont say it until they start playing him in his regular position again at centre back and he'll say something like "its nice to be able to play in my strongest position again"

That's the back four I'd play Saturday aswell, although maybe swap Dalsgaard for Colin.

Flo not used to starting so presuming Cabo's still out for Saturday he needs to get used to playing 70 rather than 30 minutes.
