Team vs. Wolves

Quite a tough team to pick this week I think. I was tempted to go for a very similar team to the one that started on Tuesday, as they'll no doubt be full of confidence after thrashing QPR, but then it would've meant leaving out too many 'big' names.

---------------- Bentley -------------------

-- Colin -- Egan -- Bjelland -- Henry --

------- Yennaris --- Mokotjo -------------

-- Jota ------- Sawyers ------ Clarke ---

---------------- Maupay -------------------

Subs: Daniels, Dalsgaard, Barbet, Woods, Jozefzoon, Canos, Watkins

Is what I think I'd go for if I absolutely had to choose? Goes without saying that Bentley comes back to take his spot and Ilias wouldn't quite be ready for the league yet (just switch Colin to LB and bring in Dalsgaard at RB again if Henry isn't fully fit yet). Midfield trio basically chooses itself at the moment too as I don't think we should start Woods just quite yet.

Ideally I'd have gone for Clarke on the right as I think he's more effective there, but obviously if Jota is fit then there's no way he'll be benched. After a MOTM performance and a goal, I think it'd be harsh not to give Clarke a start though as he's definitely earned it. That then frustratingly leaves no space for Watkins! Not a terrible option to bring on at 60/70 minutes I suppose. Jozefzoon's been disappointing so far this season if I'm honest so I don't feel bad dropping him to the bench.

The centre back pairing seems to be our main headache this season but after a fairly competent performance on Tuesday I think it maybe makes sense to just give Egan and Bjelland another go? Only the club will know how likely Dean is to actually leave before Thursday, so they can use that information as to which of him/Barbet get a spot on the bench - seems harsh to leave any of the 4 of them out of the matchday squad, but I suppose it's got to be done. On paper I'd maybe like to see the Egan - Barbet partnership worked on, but that's perhaps something for the international break.

Headache's all round really! I think Bentley, Colin, Sawyers and Maupay should be the only inarguable starting choices, but other than that I can accept reasoning behind any others being switched. A tough decision for anyone at the moment I think, here's hoping Smith gets it right.

I don't see how a Brentford team can have Canos,Watkins,Woods and Dean all missing. The Jota situation is very similar to Harley Dean's and yet he's in.
We need points desperately. We have to pick the best team.

Anyone hear about any offers on Lasse. Last year of his contract, must be a few clubs wanting a goal scorer.

Team vs. Wolves

Bentley

Colin
Dean
Barbet
Henry

Yannaris
Moko

Watkins
Sawyers
Jota

Maupay

Subs: Daniels, Egan, Bjellend, Clarke, Woods, Canos, Flojo

Bentley

Darlsgaard Barbet Dean Colin

Kamo Nico

Sawyers

Jota Watkins

Maupay

Subs:

Daniels
Vibe
Egan
Bjelland
Canos
Clarke

Not sure if Henry is fit.. Midfield and Striker all automatic choices... Jota has to come back in..

Team vs. Wolves

Bentley
Colin Egan Barbet Ilias/Henry
Kamo Woods
Sawyers
Jota Maupay Watkins

Daniels, Bjelland, Clarke, Nico, Jozefzoon, Canos, Shaibu

Appears very thin at CM. But just can't justify dropping any of the three wingers (Flo, Clarke + Canos) from the squad for Westbrooke. Watkins can always move into the middle if necessary.

A lot of people are not having Vibe involved at all. Is he injured?

No official word from the club yet, but his Instagram stories all week have mostly been of him with some kind of special boot/strap on his left ankle, so I'd be surprised if he was fit enough to play.

That's assuming Henry and Vibe are not fit to play.

Team vs. Wolves

Don't think Canos will start as wasn't deemed ready for bench v qpr..

Bentley

Dalsgaard Dean Barbet Colin

Mokotjo Woods
Sawyers

Jota Watkins
Maupay

Subs: Daniels, Egan, Ilias, Nico, Shaibu, clarke , Canos

Tough on flojo but that's the way it's going to be when everyone's fit!! This is of course assuming neither vibe or henry are fit...

Neither was Jota, but Smith reckons they're both back in training now?

Assuming Henry and Vibe are injured, I'd go for:

-------------Bentley

Clarke---Dean---Barbet---Colin

--------Mokotjo--Yennaris

Jota-------Sawyers----Jozefzoon

------------Maupay

Subs: Daniels, Dalsgaard, Bjelland, Woods, Watkins, Canos, Shaibu

I think Clarke is a better option at RB than Dalsgaard, and Dean & Barbet is our best CB pairing. Jozefzoon showed signs of getting back to his best against QPR and his pace is a real threat, so I'd start him instead of Watkins, who can come on to do damage in the last 25 minutes. I don't see Clarke as an effective left winger, and I wouldn't select him ahead of Jota on the right!

On the bench, hopefully Canos will be available, as we've missed his attacking play and enthusiasm. I don't see the point in having 2 CBs on the bench, so Egan unfortunately misses out as Bjelland covers full-back as well.

Team vs. Wolves

I don't think Rico or Jota is fit and think we need to play Ollie so starting 11:

Dan Bentley
Henrik
John Egan
Bjelland
Maxim
Kamo
Josh C
Woodsy
Romaine
Ollie
Neal Maupay
