Team vs. Wolves
Quite a tough team to pick this week I think. I was tempted to go for a very similar team to the one that started on Tuesday, as they'll no doubt be full of confidence after thrashing QPR, but then it would've meant leaving out too many 'big' names.
---------------- Bentley -------------------
-- Colin -- Egan -- Bjelland -- Henry --
------- Yennaris --- Mokotjo -------------
-- Jota ------- Sawyers ------ Clarke ---
---------------- Maupay -------------------
Subs: Daniels, Dalsgaard, Barbet, Woods, Jozefzoon, Canos, Watkins
Is what I think I'd go for if I absolutely had to choose? Goes without saying that Bentley comes back to take his spot and Ilias wouldn't quite be ready for the league yet (just switch Colin to LB and bring in Dalsgaard at RB again if Henry isn't fully fit yet). Midfield trio basically chooses itself at the moment too as I don't think we should start Woods just quite yet.
Ideally I'd have gone for Clarke on the right as I think he's more effective there, but obviously if Jota is fit then there's no way he'll be benched. After a MOTM performance and a goal, I think it'd be harsh not to give Clarke a start though as he's definitely earned it. That then frustratingly leaves no space for Watkins! Not a terrible option to bring on at 60/70 minutes I suppose. Jozefzoon's been disappointing so far this season if I'm honest so I don't feel bad dropping him to the bench.
The centre back pairing seems to be our main headache this season but after a fairly competent performance on Tuesday I think it maybe makes sense to just give Egan and Bjelland another go? Only the club will know how likely Dean is to actually leave before Thursday, so they can use that information as to which of him/Barbet get a spot on the bench - seems harsh to leave any of the 4 of them out of the matchday squad, but I suppose it's got to be done. On paper I'd maybe like to see the Egan - Barbet partnership worked on, but that's perhaps something for the international break.
Headache's all round really! I think Bentley, Colin, Sawyers and Maupay should be the only inarguable starting choices, but other than that I can accept reasoning behind any others being switched. A tough decision for anyone at the moment I think, here's hoping Smith gets it right.
