Team vs Wrexham

A strong team but also giving a chance to the loan players, providing they are eligible to play by their parent clubs. I'd go for:

................................Lee................................

Logan............Legge........Dean............Bidwell

Saunders.....Douglas.....Diagouraga.....Weston

..............Alexander............Grella...................

Subs

Devlin
Woodman
Eger
Bean
McGinn
Oyeleke
Donaldson

Team vs Wrexham

I may agree with the reason to play the loanees (to give them a chance), but I'd rather make sure we are in the hat solely for the third round rather than be out of it (or being an or with Wrexham).

So I'd go for a strongish team.

........................Lee.........................
Logan..... Legge...... Eger... Woodman
McGinn.... Dave... Douglas... Saunders
...........Alexander.......Grella..............

I was really undecided on the strikeforce to be honest, because I'd like to Donaldson play and score to get his 'scoring confidence' going.

The bench be any 7 fit players...

Could work either way with Donaldson, if he plays like he did when he came on at Basingstoke the Wrexham defence won't have too much to worry about.

Swap Donaldson for Alexander and that would be my team. No doubt the GA fan club will object but hey ho!

Team vs Wrexham

Should be whatever he considers his strongest team. A team top of the BSP is strong enough for us not to take chances against them, and a good 3rd round draw could bring in cash and public/media interest

For me, that would be
Lee
Logan Eger Legge Woodman
Saunders Douglas Diagouraga McGinn
Alexander Grella
Subs Devlin Bidewell Dean Weston Bean Donaldson Oyeleke

if it's a choice between experimenting in this one or Barnet, I think the FA Cup matters more - and based on league form, Wrexham are arguably the better opponents

Team vs Wrexham

I think a def change will be Bidwell in place of Woodman. I suspect we may see Donaldson and Grella starting to give Alexander a rest. JPT vs Barnet will give Dean a start.

I'd go for that team; although I'd also be happy if he gave Bidwell a game ahead of Woodman. Don't know why some people are suggesting dropping/resting Eger, I think him and Legge need games together to build an understanding.

I think we will need power, strength and height against Wrexham. Alexander is essential IMO

This could be a very tough match - requiring power & strength as NLB suggests - provided by Douglas, Legge and Alexander. I'm unsure whether Grella should be preferred over Donaldson - probably start with Grella with the CD option on the bench.
Plenty of wind and rain is forecast - could be very difficult conditions - as per Rochdale last week apparently.

Team vs Wrexham

Would like to give Bidwell a run but probably not the game for him.

Same starters as last weekend. Old school cup tie with weather i reckon!

Agree, and also he has been very good since he returned from injury.

Shouldn't rest anyone. The extra Money will help. Full strength please. No messing about.

Team vs Wrexham

Hello all. Relatively new to this so not too much abuse please...

Would go with Ladbroke's team except probably replace Woodman with Bidwell as I don't rate Woodman's distribution.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before but Eger seems to have played in 9 out of 10 of our clean sheets - coincidence or some sort of lucky charm? Not sure...

Definitely need a strong side though as this will not be easy and they will be well up for it. They will be confident so we'll need to concentrate, not always our best point.

Team vs Wrexham

How do Wrexham play? Physical or passing?

Team vs Wrexham

I don't think we'll mess around for this one, Uwe takes the cups seriously, which is why the last round of the JPT and FA Cup we fielded near starting line-ups. I suspect we'll be doing the same for the next couple of games too...

Team:
Lee.
Logan, Eger, Dean, Bidwell.
Saunders, Douglas, Diagouraga, Weston.
Alexander, Grella.

Subs: Devlin, Legge, Woodman, Bean, Oyeleke, McGinn, Donaldinho.

Weston or McGinn could go either way, but maybe Rosler will want to start Weston in a game soon as it's been a while. And me picking Grella is again probably more on hope than expectation, but he's picked him in the last cup games.

Lee
Logan Legge Eger Woodman
Saunders Douglas Dave McGinn
Grella Donaldinho

Devlin. Bean. Alexander. Weston. Dean. Bidwell. Oyeleke.

This except Sir Gary for Grella.

Surely Grella deserves a start?

I couldn't argue with it but for me, Gary must play and i am hoping Clayton is gonna score because he is well overdue one.

You say you would go with a strong team then drop Legge, Woodman & Donaldson. Confused I am

A couple of changes, Bidwell for Woodman, just to give the loanee a game, and Weston for McGinn, McGinn has gone off the boil lately and I'd give Weston a chance to prove himself. Grella for Donaldson, to appease the GPG'ers that want change ;)

Any 7 subs.

Would be happy with this too. Great squad we have these days.

I honestly don't see the logic in dropping CD for this game. While I don't underestimate Wrexham, they are a non-league team so you would expect him to get more of a look-in than of late. A couple of goals and his season could take-off. If it were a league game perhaps now would be the time but given it isn't it's the wrong call imo. If it has to be alongside GA, fine.

Good chance for Grella to carry on where he left off in his last start,we know CD can score against Div 2/Conf sides he's proved that.

I didn't drop him, he is in my team. See post 20 :sorted:

Because Clayton has been pony for the last month and Grella deserves his chance. GA has been our best striker over the last few games with his work rate, winning headers, build up play etc. so he doesn't deserve to be dropped. If Uwe picks Clayton ahead of Grella to give him a chance to score against lower opposition then it sends out the wrong message i.e. 'Clayton is better than Grella so even if he is in dreadful form I'll continue to pick him regardless of form'.

As for Wrexham being a non league side I think they will be stronger then you think; Crawley were in a similar position last year and now they look certain to be in League 1 nerxt season. Add to that Wrexham haven't conceded a goal in seven goals hardly a chance for Clayton to fill his boots.

Tough one this we need a strong side out because Wrexham are no mugs. I reckon Weston needs a start sooner or later and would like to see Grella start but think we need the physical presence of GA and would hope Donaldson can get a goal to kick start his season.

It's still a strong team ;) Grella is potentially as good as Donaldinho while it also gives the new boys a chance to shine, given that Legge still only recently came back into the squad. Woodman is probably as good as Bidwell but not one of our star players.

Yep, but in post 26 you agree with Wanderer's team that doesn't have CP in

Actually, I'd beg to differ in that he agrees, but doesn't actually say he prefers that to his own selection.

Would be happy with this too. Great squad we have these days.

He said he liked it too... And even went on to say that we have a great squad these days which I took that we can have options like this and agree on different line ups.

I can't disagree with any of your points here. Looking short-term they all make perfect sense. However, long-term we need more goals and on his record CD is our best chance of this. Maybe dropping him now is what he needs to get him going but I think playing him against weaker opposition (though I take your point about Wrexham) in the cup is a gamble worth taking for the longer term benefits it might accrue.

Fair enough, I stand corrected: but I suppose my point was that I would not be happy with Wanderer's team, while Nick would be

I have a suspicion that Uwe may agree with you and will play the same team as Rochdale (although I hope he doesn't) we will find out by this time on Saturday.

I think I put a strong line up (post 2 I believe) and my reasons were that we need to not underestimate Wrexham. I also think I had Grella and Alexander and put as a side note that I would put Donaldson if only to boost confidence IF he scores. But no confidence doesn't win games. Grella has a bit more will at the moment whilst Alexander is a battler which is more needed against Wrexham. Donaldson was found out by Basingstoke and pushed further wide where he attempted to get free kicks instead. Grella and Alexander tend to stay more central - just a shame its a little deeper than we'd all like.

Team vs Wrexham

im pretty certain he'll play more or less the same team as Rochdale. if there were any changes i think Myles, Grella and Dean (possibly in midfield) are the most likely to come into the team.

Thats exactly what i mean't, you could choose from many different teams and it would still look good.

Team vs Wrexham

Wrexham, being top of the BSP basically equates to a top-ten team from League 2. We should not underestimate them so I would suggest we play the strongest possible side.

With CD, I'm sure his confidence is at an all time low, so this would be an ideal game for him to get some of that lost confidence back.

A sound opinion from Staines - I would expect nothing less from my home town!

For starters, why would you put TWO untried defenders in the starting line up against against a physical in form Wrexham side, of which one has already been mentioned today as not being able to play? Second of all, WTF about the keeper!?! Moore is still injured I believe, and even then - do you actually want to win against Wrexham. Not underestimating Moores ability, just more belief that with Richard Lee between the sticks, he has a greater chance of doing better than Moore against Wrexham.
Douglas not in the team? When he has played he has done well in the midfield - granted he has had some games where he has disappeared, but Bean has done that more often than not.

Just think you are underestimating Wrexham somewhat. Just think back to the team he fielded against Basingstoke... Is it really going to be weaker against a much harder team than Basingstoke?

Bidwell can't play he isn't registered for the cup. Uwe Rosler interview today confirmed that. Dean on the other hand can. Might be inclined to suggest putting Donaldson out wide as he seems to drift there half the time anyway and start with GA and MG.

Spot on NLB. Wrexham, aka sheep shaggers are no mugs. Strongest side Mr Rossler please. We can bring on Bakewell if we are 15 up at half time.
