Katie loses the first set 6-1. Was very nearly bageled :(

In more positive news she is looking rather lovely in a very nice cropped topped pink number and short skirt
I thought the objectification of ladies was a thing of the past on the GPG

Tennis

Now 4-0 down in 2nd set. Oh dear!
Don’t worry the army of GPG tennis coaches and managers not to mention specialist doctors will be along shortly to get her career back on track

Cam into his 15th ATP tour final

Against not particularly strong opposition and was fortunate that Rublev the top seed who he was scheduled to play in the quarters withdrew having been subbed in for the ATP Finals next week, but still a v good effort in view of the sh*tty 2nd half of the year he's had.
Kick off approx 3.30pm today.

Tennis

Alcaraz has just been knocked out of the ATP Finals in the Group Stage

Looking like Sinner v Zverev in the final on Sunday

I think we should put this on a tennis thread and not just one player's thread

Anne Keothavong's team will move on to a semi-final tie against Slovakia, who beat 2022 runners-up Australia, on Tuesday (11:00 GMT).

Tennis

Anne Keothavong's team will certainly not underestimate Slovakia, who upset the USA in the last 16 and were comfortable 2-0 winners over Australia earlier on Sunday.

Rebecca Sramkova cruised to a 6-1 6-2 win over Ajla Tomljanovic to clinch Slovakia the victory after Viktoria Hruncakova rallied to defeat Kimberly Birrell 7-5 6-7 (7-4) 6-3 for her sixth straight BJK Cup win, counting singles and doubles.

?
Is this on the telly??

Tennis

It’s been available live on the BBC website so far.
Nice to find a tennis related thread I’m allowed to comment on.
Just remember you are suspended for two years for coaching and seeking to influence career decisions of our young stars ???

I’m perfectly happy to accept that I have a massive crush on Katie Boulter.
It’s nothing to be embarrassed by.

Tennis

Break down now but still think GB will make the final

Swiatek and Poles lost yesterday so it would be Paolini and Italy in Final

Tennis

Boulter wins the first set on the second match.
But the Slovak levels the tie

All down to Watson and Nicholls in the doubles

First match for them this week

If a side is 2-0 up they dont play the doubles

Tennis

Slovak pair have played 1 though

Viktória Hrunčáková / Tereza Mihalíková
Ashlyn Krueger / Taylor Townsend (Usa)

6 - 3
3 - 6
10-8

Tennis

Italy won the BJK Cup.

Congratulations to them.

They have had an excellent tennis season.

Tennis

Davis Cup Final today
Italy v Netherlands
Starts at 3pm
Surely another trophy ? for Sinner and Italy ??

Tennis

Another top player is given different treatment to others

Swiatek banned for just 1 month (8 days of which is being served now when no one plays !!)

Awaited apparently gave some unopened packages of melatonin to the authorities, who confirmed what she says.
She has the manufacturer. Lost a lot of money in the ban, has lots of money. Look forward to the court case. Which should be a slam dunk case.
Worth her while. Loss of money, reputation, proof.
Looking forward to it !!! Yeah right.

Tennis

4 British wins today at the Aussie open .

Jack Draper wins in 5 - probably not what he wanted match wise but least he won.

Jacob Fearnley going well against Nick Kyrgios who is struggling TBF .

Nice win for lucky loser Harriet Dart and Jodie Burrage.

Tennis

Be interested to see what Fearnley’s ceiling is given his very quick ascent up the rankings.

Let’s hope the 5 setter for Draper hasn’t done for him moving forward. No matches since October/November plus injury mean he can’t be match fit etc.

Great win for Burrage after a long fight against injuries. Tough assignment next round.

Dart is a lucky girl. Horrible display in final round of qualies - gets in anyway and then plays a lower ranked qualifier herself in round one proper. Gritty display - looked injured and betting she goes out next round too.

Tennis

Six Brits through to round two of the Aussie Open, which is a record. Who needs Andy Murray anyway??

The ladies are leading the way with four players through (Boulter, Raducanu, Burrage and Dart). Huge congratulations in particular to Jodie after the horrible year that she has had through injuries and surgeries. As Apollo says above, though, she probably won't get any further, as Gauff awaits in round two.

Tennis

Apart from Boulter it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if the other 5 lost in Round 2 if you look at their opposition
Draper v Kokkinakis (In the Kyrgios slot at night on 3rd court with the Aussie support)
Fearnley v Cazaux
Burrage v Gauff
Dart v Vekic
Raducanu v Anisimova
Boulter v V Kudermetova

Are you to tennis what @wibs is to golf betting.

just asking as I have a tenner burning a hole in my pocket

Usually is like that isn’t it .

You could well be right, although Draper and Raducanu have a chance of going further and Kudermetova is not a gimme for Boulter either, although she'll be favourite.

Tennis

A really good effort from Jodie Burrage v Gauff. Such a shame that she didn't take her chance when serving for the 2nd set. Gauff was definitely wobbling then, but managed to come through it, as the best players tend to do.
