Barry Salvage collapsed and died whilst running a half-marathon in his home town of Eastbourne. I had just moved to East Sussex and was living not too far from there and I remember reading the news splashed all over the local paper. I was really shocked - he was only 39 at the time.

I quite liked him as a player, he was the first winger I'd seen to just knock the ball about 10 yards in front of him and chase it with his head down... then knock it forward again!! It seemed to work, though!
