'That Miss'

Bobby Taylor, one of my all time favs but will always be remembered for 'that miss' at Huddersfield :( ......where would Brentford be now???....still can't believe he missed......

'That Miss'

We'd almost certainly have lost at Wembley and be in exactly the same situation we are now!

You trying to tell me we wouldn't have beaten Bristol Rovers in the Final? wasn't that also the only season when the team finished 2nd didn't go up...I'm sure it was....:(

I do not think I have ever felt down after a Brentford game after the home leg against Hudderfield.....messed up my whole summer.......!!! the only time i seriously wanted to take out the opposition fans...

Even with only 1 guaranteed promotion place we blew it with those 2 terrible performances at home to Chester and Bnmuth.

5 precious points thrown away. I also remember Ashby's last minute towering header at Brighton being dubiously disallowed in what remained a 1-1 draw.

Yes, I remember that. I think Bailey scored for us and Bates og levelled the scores. Theres was nothing wrong with Ashbys header, it was a disgrace it was disallowed.:nono:

Remember "You're just a town full of faggots" being sung for a good 80 of the 90 mins lol

I'm afraid Lee Thorpes against Morecambe at home last year left me catatonic

I will NEVER understand how Taylor didn't stick that away. It was one of my first away games and we were standing right behind it! Half the crowd were already cheering in anticipation and I couldn't believe it when it clipped the bar and went over - gutted!

Re Bristol Rovers in the final, as I remember, we gave them a lesson in football at GP in the October of the 94/95 season, and they got two lucky Gareth Taylor (w*nker) :yuck: :nono: headers and drew with us 2-2 at their place, so on the balance of things, we could well have gone on to beat them. One thing though, half the team did go to Wembley just two years later and got done 1-0 by Crewe, so it will always remain an 'ifs and buts' arguement.

The 95 side was far better than the 97 side, in my view, and I think we would have beaten Rovers. It looked worse seeing it on video than it actually did at the time, the ball wasn't moving fast and the keeper was nowhere, Taylor wasn't under pressure but he leaned back slightly and was far too casual. If we'd gone up, Webb might have been less likely to put his hands in the till and concentrate on team matters and it could have been all so different.

I agree, we would have beaten Rovers.

It was one of the defining moments in the club's history. Martin Lange lost interest after the Huddersfield defeat and David Webb became the untitled CEO after Keith Loring left and no doubt saw his chances to make money out of the club.

Very much a defining moment. I reckon we lost a thousand fans that night.

understatement of the year that! the biggest 1-0 thrashing i have seen possibly ever (although the Spanish win v Germany in Euro 2008 comes close).

only time i have ever been to Wembley too.

and Edmundo is right - we would no doubt have lost. can anyone remember any times we have won when we absolutely had to to make all the difference?? (i discount posh away and cambridge away as we were already promoted).

We weren't promoted before we played Peterborough in 1992.

Jamie Bates' penalty in the home leg against Huddersfield wasn't too hot either. Our last kick of the season as I recall.

It felt worse somehow than after the away leg. There was still hope at the McAlpine Stadium.

And it summed up the season as well. So near the foot of the righthand post at the Ealing Road end, yet so far.....
