The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Sorry, I know some people get peeved when I start talking about the following season's kit, but, being a bit of an anorak about things like this, I'm starting to get excited...

Next season marks an extra special time for kit fans as the agreement with Puma is over. I think they have given us a selection of nice or interesting kits over the last six seasons but ooooh, isn't it exciting awaiting the announcement to see who will be 'making' next season's...

Will it be someone down with kids, like adidas or Nike, or will we be back with someone like Lonsdale....

I think the furore about the white backs mean we will probably revert to stripes all round which could be a bit of a shame if the white backs take us into The Championship....

I also fancy we may see a return to a yellow and black away kit but you never know...

The white backs seem to have sold out, so I'm hoping we get to here, and see, soon what the next season kit will be like. If we go up then maybe it will becpme as popular as the hummel kits of 1992/93 season. Oh how nice it was to wear those abroad that summer...

If anyone itk has any details (pssssst Farnhambee, any pics yet?) then feel free to post here on this thread or even pm me... I'm so excited and I just can't hide it....

Anything but f%@£ing white backs even if we do get promotion in it. Won't be a shame in reverting back to stripes all round at all. Agreed the Hummel kits of 92/93 were a classic which I don't think 2012/13 ever will be.

Black and yellow kit not a bad call but how about a nod to the claret and blue worn in our formative years?

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

I liked last season's kit. Loved it actually. Not a fan of this seasons.

Terrible spelling error... Hear, not here :nono:

Defo a return to the black and yellow kit, I really liked it, and it sold well too!

The impression I got from the club was that the only reason we didn't keep it was that the contract under Pumba stated that we changed our away kit each year. (Club said they liked it, someone said "I'm sure we'll see a return to it in future years", all of pre-season was played in it even though we had a home kit.)

I defo vote for a return of it, as for the home kit, I guess the stripes will change width and the back will become less white but that's a fairly easy guess.

Never in a million years will anyone get me wearing those colours; I wouldn't even use claret & blue toilet paper.

The silver kit, with red stripes.....

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Whichever supplier gives us the most money can chose whatever they like, providing there is a red-and-white stripe somewhere on the home kit. For the away, the black/yellow is quite distinctive but ISTR that the players liked the all black. That is unfortunate as you can't chant "come on you blacks" away, without fear of the stewards having a say. Almost as silly as the moronic "red and white army" chant at Crawley, who were the team playing in... red and white! I doubt the chanters noticed that it should have, at least, been black and red cadets.

Pretty sure all decisions will have been made already... Just waiting for t'announcement...

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Yep Adidas or Nike would be nice :sorted:

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

We are a club on the up and any supplier that goes with us will be making a smart investment IMO.

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Furthermore, I'm sure I remember Mark Devilman saying something on twitter regarding Adidas. Going back a long time now though to roughly when this seasons kit was announced to have a white back

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Mr Devlin tweeted the club 'met with adidas' but they were meeting other suppliers too...

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

One of the reasons that the home shirt sold out was, most were bought for people as presents and the fact that the club ran a deal where you buy one shirt (eg. away) and can get the other shirt (home) half price.
Red & White stripes, black shorts, black socks always. The away kit is what you 'experiment' with... not all black again please! If the kit has to be inter-changeable, just have alternative shorts/socks (ie. we wore yellow & black shorts with the yellow/black kit last season), it's not difficult.

The white back looks as if we're wearing two shirts. If it's all to do we people being able to see numbers, I'd prefer the Football League to change the stupid style of the numbers/letters to an easier-to-read style. My eyesight's not bad, but on occasion I've mistaken a 7 for a 2, just because of that stupid gold section on the number.

Rant over... for the moment at least!

Fair enough but those were our colours from 1889-1903 before we settled for variations in blue and yellow until we settled for the red and white stripes in 1926-27.

All details here http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Brentford/Brentford.htm

Personally It would be nice if the second kit colours reflected a part of our heritage.

That is a terrific display of our former kits ! Well done!
Just a couple of points. I recall we did wear v- necks in 1957/8, although that style may have been introduced some time mid season. Also, at the start of 1962/3 we wore a slightly different shirt, with a retro button down white neck. It was a bit odd, and was ditched after a while to the one shown on that chart.

I heard Adidas too. Yuk! Over fussy with stripes. Bukta please.

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

do Hummel still make kits? I loved that shirt in the early 90s with our old crest

Adidas or Nike would be good

What about Hobot or Chad from the Liverpool 89 or promotion 91-92 seasons?

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

As long as the design is good and the deal for the club is also, i couldn't care less who makes it....why should you?

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

As long as we have stripes front and back I don't care who makes it.

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Wonder if the club will show us designs and let us vote on it? Cant remember the last time we done that ?

I see Torquay have done this already for next season and already have a winner.

'Chad' was a brand of kit from a local sports retailer down Linkfield Road Isleworth! IIRC.....

We bought our Sunday kit, same as Brentford FC's, from him too!

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

I can never understand why clubs don't just design a kit then get a local cut ,make and trim firm to make it up for them.Good for the local economy ,local employment and gives a small firm an incredible opportunity. A chance to have a unique kit without boosting the profits of a foreign multi-national company.

Year in, year out Athletico Madrid seem to get it right with their shirts – always look great. Would be good if we could use some of their recent designs as a guideline.

Could also do a limited edition with Forlan on the back to sell in the club shop. ;)

:nono: Nah, not since you muppets chose blue stripes for the away top and noone bought it! :nono:

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Ps. Torquay's 'Sondico' designs all looked awful.

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Cant say ive been a fan of our Puma kits. For me we should have proper red & white stripes/black shorts & socks for a home kit and light blue/navy blue stripes navy shorts & socks for away kit (like Liverpool 89)

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

The Puma kit from 2010-11 was fine by me.

The Chad kit of the 90's, the Hummel kit of the 91-92 and Oscar kits of the 80's. plus the Adidas one too.......

I didn't know that but I did live down that road and I do remember the shop, he was a good lad that ran it.

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Yep, the 80-81 kit with the 77-80 socks please.

I think part of the loan deal for Rodney involves him supplying next season's kit under his trading name - Trotta's Independent Traders

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

Can we have camouflage away kit to confound the opposition? (And the ref, and the TV cameras, and the crowd ... and probably our own team - maybe not).

1988-1989 - purchased it off ebay last year - looks the business - i'll have it on at Coventry away :)

I'm guessing I'm the only one who thinks Adidas kits look poo.

The 2013/14 Kit Thread

We get less money with Nike. And other big brands I think I read somewhere. Thats why most lower leagues go with the crappier suppliers.

Must admit it's more the asthetics of the kit I'm interested in than the logo on it.

Ps dear Brentford can we have a more interesting Goalkeepers kit for next year. I always buy them for my son and the black and gry efforts this year are terribly boring...............
