Let's not kid ourselves the atmosphere yesterday and for most of the recent games is awful we just seem to attract the type of fan who just wants to watch and never get behind the team, to think we are having the best season in our lives and they are having to play in near silence it's embarrassing and we need to sort it out

The way things are going there'll soon be a regimented process whereby fans can only 'cheer' at certain times during the game and chanting will only be permitted if it includes the name of a local eatery which offers some sponsorship.
The atmosphere at some games was often influenced by the frenzy of the pre-match announcements but that's apparently a thing of the past. Woe betide anyone who wants to try something unscripted and spontaneous.

I said after 25 minutes that the crowd and the game were flat.
It does need us to raise the team sometimes we don't realise and do that, whilst other times we do respond.
9 games to go - let's ALL make as much noise as we can, starting at Blackburn on Tuesday.
Just remember how far we have come in the last four or five years and we sure don't want to go back to that scenario again.

How about bringing back Mr Motivator Man and his pal, who ran around dressed up as Super Hero's, before a Hartlepool at home game many seasons ago. Not sure if that worked either!

Sorry but from NR(just behind dugouts) never heard it. There is an acoustic problem at GP. I quite believe that from ER and the Wendy House, neither 'end' CAN hear the other singing. However, in NR, we are aware of both ends songs.

Have to agree, it's poor especially given that we're pushing for promotion to the PL. The noise is on a par with the seasons we were mid table in league one.

Apart from notable exceptions, eg Stoke and Palarse, I don't think the PL is all that in respect of noise, bearing in mind the size of the crowds. I don't think its just us.

Every club has this problem to some extent, but for us there are far fewer excuses. We're a great team, it's an unbelievably exciting time to support us and we still play in a traditional, rickety old ground that should help the atmosphere, despite the problems with acoustics.

That's what I think a bit gutted on one hand but another season in the championship will be good. Hopefully we get the right appointment, as a bit concerned we might find it a bit harder next season particularly if we get the wrong man!

Seemed to me yesterday that both team and supporters expected a comfortable win and move onto the next game
With just a few games left both the players and the fans need to make an effort to get us over the line. I would add that I don't buy into the view that it is up to the fans to lift the team, in fact quite the opposite and if the players seemingly are only giving 70/80% then the crowd will replicate that
Yesterday the game, in the 2nd half needed to be taken by the neck and shaken, the Manager needed to get a message into the pitch to wake the players, he didn't, they didn't and the fans followed that lead
The fans want entertainment and commitment yesterday the latter was missing so don't blame the fans for not making a noise

Quite right Mr Pipe. But it's only once in a blue moon we, the crowd, create an atmosphere at GP. We rely on the Locum Spirit. And the ground is on the way out, with, unfortunately, the management. I'm hoping for better at Ewood Park, win or lose. Now if we all decided to be collectively less anal and started singing Moonshadow again... now that would be something to be proud of. Otherwise, another GloomSaddo version of Hay Jude EE Ore.

Spot on. I also sit in NR half way and you can just about hear ER singing 'can you hear the .... sing" yet the singing coming out of BR is much more louder.

Bang on. I heard some people chatting before the game saying that Ipswich had lost and that we were now 4 points ahead of them........this was before our game had kicked off! these guys just assumed we would win! Some of the people that come to griffin park these days are embarrassing.

Amosphere died after MA. And when the Paddock got fat. I remember when everyone in the Paddock stood up majoriy of the game.
And its a shame we now rely on the minority in ER to get the ground going.

I reckon we should take a leaf out of crystal palaces book. Their 'holmesdale fanatics' are probably the best at it.
They all gather at the bottom of the stand and more people seem to join in behind and in surrounding areas. It spreads quicker.
Just an idea but maybe we should try and get all the noise down at the front of the terrace home and away.
It'll piss loads of our strictly sit only fans away but hey who cares. Let's face it they aren't gonna make much noise in protest

Thing is we can all moan about it but we need all of us to add to the atmosphere!!! Ive sat down in the last few years for the odd game and it baffles me the amount of people who cant even be bothered to clap or encourage a good bit of play.

Sat in the New Road (hate corner) against Bournemouth and I must admit I really struggled to here any noise from Ealing Road and others around me were saying the same.
What's happened to the many songs from only 5 years ago?.

i think the problem is the ones trying to make the effort are all so young....they probably dont know half the songs.....not knocking em for trying either
i started a "youre gonna get your etc heads etc in" at the watford game and no-one joined in....no one obviously knew the words to that one either loltobymaxtonesmith

In all seriousness which songs? We sing a fairly broad range where I stand, but only a few (Super Brentford, Hey Jude, Come on Brentford) catch on beyond the back of the right side Ealing Road.

We all know it. For whatever reasons, its not working.
But with a few like minded people, some organisation and leadership the atmosphere can be improved. It can. It will. It must.
I understand its not a big deal for all, but any constructive ideas welcomed.

I think we may start slowly next season which won't be good for atmosphere or crowds plus the 'Warburton' worshippers will be on this message board endlessly, but once the new regime settle in with I anticipate quite a few changes in the team we will be fine and challenging again. I also anticipate that we are likely to appoint someone who will have a plan B for when things aren't going our way. A second season in the championship is still for me the most successful period of supporting Brentford.

When you've got a nice family club, packed with oldies and youngsters, coupled with the fact that there are lots of newcomers (our average attendance being many thousands more than the previous year(s)), then it's hardly surprising we're not the loudest.

The football on the field and our position in the table you'd expect the best atmosphere for years. Just doesn't happen for some reason. 6 of my mates recently went to Germany for a long weekend and managed to get in 3 games. They said nothing in England compares to it.

The technologically compromised among us can just sing and clap and shout along with you and you can give us patronising sideways glances, happy in the knowledge that we represent a remnant of a bygone age.Come on Gilham. sort it out. Couple of observations. We sat in NR on Sat, when I usually choose PAddock and the atmosphere is quite different. From NR the Cardiff sounded like a good a effort in comparison to what I normally hear from the aways. But the NR does appear to have a lot of newbies, young and old and with lots of young families etc who don;t get animated in a game and don't sing. I had to check myself a few times with my language when I noticed who was sitting around me! At mid way through the second half on Sat, mum turned to Dad who were sitting just in front of me and said "who are they playing again?" In Paddock it just feels more passionate. Having newbies at the club is what happens when you're successful and is bound to an extent to change the atmosphere and there is no question the Club is attracting new types this season.
At the same time this is also not an entirely new situation; I've often thought at GP the atmosphre is on a bit of knife-edge in that we're fantstic when the game is going our way but go quiet very quickly when things are not going well.
Looking at positively, I've been to games as a neutral with friends or colleagues in recent years to Arsenal, Ipswich, Watford and the atmosphere at GP is generally appreciably better IMO.
At the same time this is also not an entirely new situation; I've often thought at GP the atmosphre is on a bit of knife-edge in that we're fantstic when the game is going our way but go quiet very quickly when things are not going well.

People are free to experience the match in any way they choose. There is no correct way.
Some people will watch a game in their living room and shout and scream at the TV, some will sit in silence. Neither one can claim a more valid experience over the other.
There is the same debate in live music - People who physically show their appreciation (dancing, headbanging etc) vs those who stand motionless. Both have paid their entrance fee.
It is a cyclical and pointless debate.

For the record, my last match was on ER vs B'Muff and I participated fully.

I remember one of the best atmospheres at GP was a 2-1 home defeat against Peterborough in our L2 days (they beat us 7-0 in the reverse fixture?). Must have been no more than 4,500 there but it was made up of plenty of hardy souls.
Nowadays, it seems quite astonishing that we are averaging just shy of 11k.. Give it a few seasons to judge, as there have been either a lot of floaters who've come back recently, or there are new supporters that we have been able to attract. It should improve with time.
