It seems as though we have a settled back four for once with nielson with his championship experience and the young centre backs learnin every game. And woodman who has been consistent performer all season. We seem to be playin a lot more from the back even legge has shown what he can do with the assist at mk. Great ball. If we build on this and keep this settled back four we could definitely keep cleansheets. Something we struggled to do before. I definately would keep osborne and legge at the back. the last 5 games they have been very consistent. All agreed?

Legge will be out for tomorrow IMO. Pim is better IMO, but he needs to show it, he is better than Legge.

Thought Legge was pulled all over the place on Saturday, so agree time for Pim to be given a chance.

Leon has had a better season overall than Pim (although for a period around the Everton game when he had his zoro mask he was playing really well). But i think Pim is the long term player for BFC so it would be nice for him to have a serious run in the team with Leon filling in when needed.

Whereas Pim has been outstanding this year :rolleyes: . Leon has played well and Pim has done nothing to deserve to take his place regardless of whether Pim is a better player "on paper "

I agree with this. Didnt Pim get sent off on his first game back from injury? And Osborne was responsible for a terrible backpass that cost us the Yeovil game. But of course Legge is 'an accident waiting to happen'.

Legge has been immense all season, and wins 90% of all the headers he challenges for. For the last few games Leon has been one of the first names on the teamsheet, he has even been working on his distribution and been trying to carry the ball forward. I dont understand why people want to fix something that isnt broken?

I like Leon - good old no-nonense Centre-Half.

He is still learning his trade and hence will make mistakes, generally associated with his positioning. However, he has the athleticism to recover from those mistakes, especially with KO alongside him, and his enthusiastic attitude is first class.

We are in a good position of having 3 high-quality central defenders in the squad. Perm any 2 from 3 without any loss of defensive strength to allow recovery time.

Forster had a long conversation with the physio before swapping Leon (possible back injury?) for Pim on Saturday. As he came off, Leon said that he would have been ok to carry on but, as it turned out, probably the right decision as Leon had to do an incredible amount of defending in the first half, as the ball seemed to follow him around.

Leon's height and strength was tested at the weekend, one header from a corner 1st half comes to mind, he was 5th favourite to win that ball but his upper body strength gor him there and danger over. Pim carried on the good work whilst we were under the cosh and a few Alexander headers made it a really good defensive performance.

It is good to have a choice of 3. Karleigh is now the first on the list and he's showing that he's got all the attributes to make himself a Brentford legend; the lapses in concentration are less and less and he's maturing well. Pim had not showed well this season but he has proved in the past that he's good enough; I prefer his natural left-footedness balancing a right-footer but he needs a run and to get back some consistency. Leon seems to have reached a plateau; he's great at heading when we're under an aerial bombardment but he's poor with the ball on the deck and is easily turned.

Maybe we could lend one of them to Arsenal in exchange for Fabregas...

Think Leon has been excellent overall, although did not have a great game on Saturday imo. Not sure if it was an off day, Hoskins playing well, or just the way that BR played. The right decision (credit to NF) was to bring on Pim imo, but do you keep him in for the next game, I honestly don't know. I wont have a problem whoever plays as they are both good, but it might come down to horses for courses.

For me Osborne never look settled and i always worry when he tries to pass back to the keeper.

Leon has deserved to keep his place this season. The Legge/ Osborne pairing has worked pretty well this season and steadily improving.
Pim did OK on Saturday when he came on but doesn't rate priority over Leon in my view.
With Woodman proving pretty reliable at Left Back, Right Back is the problem area - partly because we've had so many.

Still not sure who our best RB is - not Wright for sure, Spillane looks OK going forward, Nielsen (sp?) played us into trouble a couple of times but OK on Saturday apart from that and there's always KOC (although a bit slow these days he is very experienced and good positionally)

I guess you pays your money... Leon got done like a kipper by Hoskins but, if he did his back in, that would explain him turning like a tanker. As I've noted many times: great in the air but not exactly twinkle toes on the deck. Osborne's back passes were dangerous but he passed them to Lee's left making the punt out easier. Pim did what he had to when he came on.

Osborne gives us some much needed pace at the back so it's him and one other for me. Leon has done better than Pim recently so deserves to keep the shirt unless his back is bothering him - which it looked to be on Saturday. Hoskins is one of the better forwards in our division.

I thought Nielsen had a good game on Saturday, considering it was only his second for us. He was calm under pressure and distributed the ball well.

There seems to be quite a split in opinion on how Legge played on Saturday. I had the pleasure of watching the first half from the best view in the house (D Block) and Leon was caught the wrong side of the striker several times and had a bit of a shocker.

I'd still be happier with Legge & Osborne than any other centre-back pairing. :shrug:

Whats Leon actually done wrong? He's been super recently and although he lacks the distribution, he makes up for it with his heading and last ditch tackles. Until he does something seriously wrong, he should continue his partnership with KO at the back. Also, he's had 3 clean sheets out of the last 5 and one of those goals came from an absolute wonder strike, what more can you want from your CB?

He's not done anything wrong. As I've posted before, he's a one-man heading machine and perfect when we're up against an aerial bombardment to a big target man. When he's up against a nippy ball-playing forward and the ball is played into the channels he's not that quick and gets turned easily. Most of his "last ditch tackles" are recoveries from his own errors. Karleigh is better with his feet and much quicker. Leon will benefit from having Neilson alongside him as he seems to read the game well and be a calming influence; Leon and Spillane together is a disaster waiting to happen.

Might it be that we knew Notts County wouldn't play with a big man or two forwards - therefore better to have a footballing centre half on the pitch? Would be ironic given what happened.

Couldnt get to the game last night, but when i saw that oconnor was starting at right back i was actually dissapointed. i thought that neilson has played well at right back in the games hes played in and that pim did well when he came on saturday, so with legge being injured, it was a no brainer that pim would slot straight in. i no that alot of people wont agree with me on this and will probly get shot at, but i dnt think that oconnor brings alot to them team any more some of his passes are shocking putting other players under unnessicary pressure, which i think was shown when forster put bean and dave in central midfield which i think was a good move and shifted oconnor to right back. i think this was seen when he came on sat and the midfield just lost its shape. i think kev has been great for the club but i just think we have better players than him now.

Have to say that after watching Nielson a couple of times I'm struck by what appears to be a total lack of peripheral vision (or awareness, perhaps). He's been caught out several times by not realising there are people behind him: He's not afraid to put in his head or feet to make up for it - I was particularly struck by a defensive header about 15 minutes into Tuesday's match.

However, the poor Karleigh pass caught him out, he didn't realise where the forward was and bang, we're one down. His passing isn't great either - erratic up the line and rather too slow in reaching its target. He seems to lack confidence when passing it around and counters this by making sure the ball gets there slow and accurately. Better to pass into touch by mistake rather than pass it to an opponent or be intercepted, in my view.

Why is it that Osborne plays so much better at RCB than LCB? I really rate Legge but I'd like to see Pim getting a start soon to facilitate Karleigh at RCB.

Legge played well last night, and this stuff about RCB, LCB shouldn't really affect their game.

Legge rarely, rarely makes mistakes, how can we justify dropping him? If we are totalling defensive errors that lead to goals I guess Osborne would be top, but no way should we drop him.

Could've been for the elderly couple who were taken out of Ealing Road after our second goal.. Leon Legge I assume was not booked for going to the crowd because he saw something wrong with them two... otherwise the referee should've booked him even not being the scorer...

I saw the ball get thrown up after the goal was scored, and I believe it was Leon that done it, though dont think he meant to make it land in the crowd. The ball landed on the woman as far as im aware.
As soon as it happened, Leon made his way over to the crowd, but not celebrating. He seemed more concerned. After that moment, there were about 5-6 stewards there, and then the couple were escorted out of the terrace, not sure where to.

Just saw the highlights. When we score Leon boots the ball into Ealing Road and goes to apologise
