Great news.

Coupled with the signing of Mills from Tottenham AS is building the spine of the side.

Excellent news - BH is a top prospect imo. He may make a few mistakes at his age, but he's confident, communicates, commands his area and has great reflexes. Will be a top keeper.

he loved the fans i think that was one big reason he wanted to come back

Quality signing judging by what we saw last season !!!

Welcome back Ben.

Plus we forgave him for his mistakes....Brown wasn't so lucky:rolleyes:

Yes, he made mistakes, doesn't everyone.

However, I was never nervous when there was a high ball into the box (as I was with Brown and Nelson) and had confidence in Hamer and am really pleased with his signing for this coming season. Now Brown.... please go away

great news that ben is with us for next season, and that claire can look at his backside for most of the season..lol

and maybee i should start switching ends at half time ;)

Very versatile, I am sure he'll appreciate that, but lets hope he keeps his mind on the football next season.

Dagenham away.:sorted: A very wet day and we were under so much pressure and he claimed those crosses time after time, had Brown been in goal we would have lost.

:imwith:

The bad days Hamer had (Bury at home) can be put right. Brown's can't

I can't have been the only person to notice he only signed a one year deal at Reading.

Surely we really are in the driving seat for him now. Although I did see his comment about how he hopes to make a first team game there.

erm....Personal opinion! ;)

Official Fan Club Statement: It is great that Ben back onloan with us and it is a great signing for both parties...and it means lots of matches to arse watch ;)

TBH he needs to put on a bit of weight till I start watching his arse rather than the game.
Now he's going to have a regular place in the team, maybe he can afford some heartier meals

Reckon there's a chance we could get him permanently next season? He's not high in the Reading goalkeeper pecking order. I imagine if they let him go, League 1 clubs may be interested so do you think it would depend on us going up? He certainly enjoys it here and despite being a loan player, is a major part of the team.

erm.. no

One of his conditions on him coming back was for him to sign a new contract. Why would they give him a new contract, send him on loan, and then release him?
I can see him being on for the future for them and getting him out on loan is a good thing for them.

The Ben Hamer thread

I read somewhere he's renegotiating his contract in January or something. I may be wrong but I think he only signed short term with Reading (a la Seb Brown with us).

Don't think we would not be where we are without him this season. Absolutely top class again yesterday and that little extra bit of quality between the sticks appears to have made all the difference between us being where we are as oppose to having Nelson or Simon Brown in goal and being stuck in mid-table. He was critisised for not commanding his area enough, but is learning and he surely must be one of the best GK's in the league. Must say how nice it is to have such an assured keeper this season after the last couple.

He deserves a lot of credit and I just hope Reading don't offer him a deal in January, for our sake, but as ladbroke said, they wouldn't send him here and then plan to release him!

No but we can always hope that he falls in love with this place, help us to promotion, then wants to stay here instead!
