i really really like the look of Stone, and his improveing rapidly in every game

when KOC is fit its going to be a very choice for the 3 centre midfield places

Smith
KOC
Milsom
Stone

Hmmmm?

The Craig Stone thread

 He's ok but isn't this a bit OTT.
The Fulham lad will start next week with Smith and when KOC is back won't Stone drop to 4th choice and probably 5th when the Mous is fit?
Rose tinted specs anyone?;)

:imwith: except for the Mous bit...although I did like the way he kicked the tall fella in shins twice when the ref decided to let them have a proper drop ball....

Mous is s**t! He was one of reasons why we got relagated last year. Don't get me wrong he tries hard, but out of the five centre mids he should be last choice.

:nono: Mousinho is not sh*t

I would be very disappointed if Milsom and Smith don't start next week, although that might leave us a little short physically.

Stone is certainly fourth choice at best when everyone is fit.

i suggest you rethink that phrase. The reason we went down was because of some of the over paid players didn't have the heart. (Inc O'C and Heywood but these have redeemed themselves so far this season) Mousinho and Ide were the only two to come out of last season with some sort of pride. Mous isn;t going to set the world on fire, but he;s good enough for Lg.2 and Lg.1

Smith
O'Connor
Milsom
Mousinho
Stone.

Pick 2 from 5. O'C and Smith at the present time for me, with great back.

last time i picked a side, i had 2 centre mids! or are you terry butcher?

I had a season ticket last year and what i saw of him was'nt very good! Maybe i was a bit harsh with my words, but he's not good enough for the first eleven.

you need a squad of 20, and some to be able to cover more than 1 position, Mous offers us this. Deserves to be in the first 16 at present, when fit that is!

He can cover all Midfield places, Right Back and Centre Back........................ also a good sub keeper!

Point taken, but we are both agreed that there are better midfeilders in the side.

Stone is 19 and has barely played 10 league games. He will develop into a very, very good player as he has all the assets needed to succeed and I really hope we can keep him.

He seems ok, but his first touch and vision needs improving.

:imwith: Definitely something to work with. Compare him to Leary for example - miles better.

Agreed but he's 19 and hasn't played first team football and youth and reserves is much slower. All I'm saying is that he's a big stong ball playing youngster that I believe has the potential to play at a higher standard.

For the record, I'd start Smith in front of Milsom until Kev O is back and then it will be interesting and I think we could see formations and tactics change depending on the opposition.

The Craig Stone thread

Has the potential to develop into a decent player, but I thought he struggled a bit on Saturday: it's the pace of the game that he needs to get used to as he tends to dwell on the ball and get dispossessed.

Milsom was the more impressive of the 2 IMHO, and I'd play him with Smith next week (assuming Kev still won't be fit). Good to see a young player take responsiblity for free kicks (except the shots on goal) and corners - and he put most of them in the right place

The reason we struggled v Stanley in the 1st half was that Stone and Fulham were beaten in central midfield. Luckily for us they are two fit young boys who kept going and the Fulham lad's class turned it around and the war was won. The two lads in the centre for Stanley were puffing out of their arses which also helped.

Dirty Bastards.

I have spoken to a couple of Gillingham fans, and they tell me Stone's asset is his vision and passing and has been sent out on loan to give him match practice and improve his tackling in the middle. I think he is doing this and when as the Gillingham fans say his passing comes along-side then I think he will be a great player for us. I hope we can keep him for at least another month, as that is all we are allowed to do.

lol thanks Craig...................

he can become a better player, but his reading of the game isn't brilliant and his passing is wayward at times, he also likes to lump it up the middle, whereas Milsom looks for the pass on the floor and reads the game really well. IMO.

Looks like he might not be in Scott's plans - shame, there's a player in there I reckon.

The Craig Stone thread

I think he has lots of protential, he won everything against them last time round and just needs time, he is a big strong lad for 19 and just needs to adapted but i don't think he has had a bad game and i'm very surprised he has been left out as i thought our midfield was weak on sat, weaker than it has been and with out koc i think smiths weakness are showing and as he doesn't hold positon imo

We couldn't have played him instead of Smith last night - or even had him on the bench - as we already had our maximum 5 loanees in the 16.
