Nothing to suggest Smith is going anywhere in this.. quite the contrary as I read it

just my opinion not played for a year, injury prone....in the current climate unless he's being paid by insurance I cant see us taking the risk

Worth it IMHO, IF we go up, Smith would be quality in League 1

The Gary Smith thread

Why ? I hope not, quality player.

:imwith: Bumped into him Saturday  he just needs games now.. perhaps a one month loan somewhere to get him match fit and for the title run-in :sorted:

Which part of this below makes it sound like hes going some where?

" And the Griffin Park chief is looking forward to seeing Smith, who has been involved around the squad for the last two matches, provide the ammunition for the blossoming partnership.

Providing Ipswich keep producing performances that saw them beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 on Wednesday.

“I’d rather have had gary fit at the start off the season, but it is great to have people like him to come in and help kick us on,” he added. "

Fecking cracking news,I guess AS wont want to break up the current midfield pairing so we will probably see short cameo roles from off the bench at the end of games.

Ok - so if we could only keep one of the two, bearing in mind the future of the club etc. would it be Smith or Poole?

The Gary Smith thread

WTF do people want to off-load players as soon as they aren't in the first 11? In case you hadn't noticed, we're going for promotion and need a good depth of squad for the next 3 months. A returning Smith (who just needs to get match fit now) and a hungry Poole are much better than a few juniors like we've had as back-up in the past few years. 'Kin'ell, these guys were heroes last year!

Without a doubt Smith. He's class, it's just a shame about the amount of time spent out injured.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll keep either

The Gary Smith thread

But if we get Poole and Smith out it will allow us to bring in some cover for the left side and some creation for the midfield.

The Gary Smith thread

im not saying I want him out but lets be realistic he spends most of his life injured and the only way id keep him is a pay as you play type deal

Sad but true, we cannot afford a sicknote however good he is.

.................pulled a hamstring.......................

The Gary Smith thread

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,is he fit or what?

Bee H told the shareholders who attended the AGM last evening that Smith was taking part in training matches without any negative reaction but now needed some games under his belt. May be sent out on loan to get match fit.

The Gary Smith thread

Thanks for that abee, its going to be a while yet then before he plays for us.Do we not have enough players to mount a series of friendlies?

surely we have to get him out on loan now, 28 days will still leave us with the 6 game run in to which he could be very important.:sorted:

What about Welling with Moses

The Gary Smith thread

What about loaning him to a L2 club that can inflict the most damage on our close rivals?

The Gary Smith thread

Anyone else think that Smith needs to be put back in the middle? He is one player who can make those passes though defenses for our strikers to run onto, which we have been lacking the last few games.

But who would be dropped, Hunt or Bean?

He was the most creative player for us today:sorted: still dont know whether i would drop bean or hunt though for him

I suggested this last week, we need to start games with loads more authority and stretch team much more than we have in the last 5 games.

The Gary Smith thread

I'd have to say Smith in for Hunt. I think Bean gets through a huge amount of work and often manages to nick back possession or come out of a scrap with the ball and eserves his place on merit. I was surprised today that Smith came on for Clarke rather than Hunt as I thought Clarke was someone who mioght ahve been able to make something happen in the last few minutes.

I'd like to see Clark start up front and Smith brought in at right mid vs Bradford, with Halls in place of Karleigh at right back.

I agree. We're going to have to scrap to the line from here so would leave centre midfield alone unless Kevin is fit again but Smith on the right lets us retain possession on that flank which we haven't all season

Saw this morning that Gary Smith's insurers lost an appeal against the £4.3M paid out to Ben Collet from Man Utd
