The John Mackie thread
impossible
he'll be coming out dressed as Hulk Hogan soon then

But so would I.I think TB is pretty useless at the moment but if I shouted at him I would expect a comment or two back.
When the time comes for Butcher to go they must not hand the job to Scott.
The signing of this bloke is up there with Wijnhard, Onibuje, Murray Jones and the rest imo. I hold him as one of the major reasons why we are so sh*t. I don't care how inexperienced Osborne and Charles are - they must play before Mackie.
how many fouls has mackie given away this year???or free kicks just outside the box,
Mackie Out NOW
Actually hoped that Osbourne did start next to Heywood today.
Mackie is the worst central defender i have seen in a Brentford shirt and to make it even worse he is supposedly the captain.
I cannot understand his approach - he seems to want to wrestle every player who comes near him. I think his legs must have gone and that's all he's got left.
I remember going to a game in season 83/84 home to Bradford, believe it was Fred Callaghans last game before he was sacked. We lost 3-0
We had a centre half on loan from Brighton (can't remember the blokes name) and that day he played his one and only game for us. At the the time and many years on from that game I could honestly say that I hadn't seen a worse performance by a single individual defender in a Bees shirt.
Then along came Mackie
I think that was Mickey Brown - he came from Brighton and I only saw him once, though I'm not sure of the year. I remember he couldn't kick the ball without taking 2-3 steps back then a run-up (by which time ball and forward had gone). Mackie possibly not quite that bad, but probably the worst I've seen from an experienced pro - just beating Ian Bolton on evidence so far
We have had this situation before I seem to remember. For John Mackie, read Ian Bolton.

K.O.C is on loads of dough playing at right back
Thats why he stayed when we dropped to L2
the players we got now are well not very good
the back 4 woe full midfeild not much better
From my sources if Butcher goes then Scott ISNT the answer. Was youth team coach for us, wasn't great (from the reports I've heard.)
Sorry he's not working out for you. I knew he'd got slower but didn't realise that he was that bad. As for motivation, I can only put that down to him being so down about his own game.
I'd put Mackie down
Did anyone see the 4th Peter'boro goal lol
Can you tell our board that please, some of us are sh*tting ourselves over that happening.
I'd put Mackie down, all things considered, our worst ever "signing". He might not be the worst in terms of actual ability (although probably not far off). However when you consider the fact that he has been made captain, is seemingly virtually undroppable, is played alongside another slow (but half decent) centre half in a back four with no real pace, lacks height and pace himself, injury prone, rash & dirty, just wants to wrestle whoever he is marking and a general liabiity - how many penalties and free kicks in dangerous areas has he conceded this year? I'd say he was at the root of our on pitch problems, and the sooner Butcher realises that the better.
Utter, utter, sh*te.
NLB,I have never lived down the fact that I thought that Leon "Dancing Bear" Townley would be a good signing , and every so often my mate Russell is quick to remind me of my idiocy!
But Mackie..... he makes Leon look like Rio, Ferdinand, not Grande.
Mackie might be a fantastic influence in training and in the dressing room but he is probably the worst central defender I have seen at the club as he has nothing left in the tank and tries to get by on experience and sly cunning.
He can still read the game but the legs have gone and cannot follow the messages given by his brain.
Given his lack of height we should depend upon timing and the quality of his jump, remember Sodje, another small centrehalf and how he would hang in the air, poor Mackie can hardly lift his carcass off the floor.
Good luck to him or his agent in negotiating a 2 year deal but he really shows little or no sign of giving us any value for money.

Its also contagious, many would have seen me in the same sort of trouble at a match
Actually had a better game tonight and outpaced their winger at one point...quite impressed with that.
At least he shed blood for the cause tonight...nobody else did.
I thought he played really tonight in all honesty, 2nd only to the Notts County game. In actual fact, I thought the entire back four played pretty well, and thought Masters was at fault for both goals. As for Mackie though, two good performances in however many is not nearly good enough and I'll want to see a fair few more before I'm convinced he's still up to the job.I think you'll find that he was suffering concussion and when he asked "Who am I and what am |I doing here?", he was told "You're a pacey centre back whose job it is to dive headfirst at those in orange!"Actually had a better game tonight and outpaced their winger at one point...quite impressed with that.

f**king usless c**t a donkey could run faster then him....
