The "Let's Be Positive" thread

The aim of this thread is to note down all the good that can come out of todays news...to spread optimism...and to let us be what we are, Brentford fans...let me start....

1. It gives us a chance to bring in a new manager who may be able to get us autmotically promoted when riding the crest of a wave

Your turn...please feel free to add your ideas...onwards and genuinely upwards.

I love Brentford, its in my soul

The "Let's Be Positive" thread

1.we get a fresh start,hopefully a young promising manager.
2.No 1 person is bigger than a football club

 I should like to see Danny Wilson as our new manager..he has experience of this Div. with Bristol sh*tty..and MK Dons..always rated him..much quieter than MA..YOU REDS...

It was always going to happen
There has actually been something, football related, posted on the o/s
Brentford are pointing out something the whole world new

The "Let's Be Positive" thread

i'm optimistic about our future on the playing front
but bfc have to get the appoointment right

i hope they resist the temptation to appoint one of MA's coaching team just because it's easy and cheap

i feel personally that it has to be a clean start
and the new man has to have enthusiasm and footballing principles

a keith alexander style long ball merchant would be terrible

Yes it always happens when we get someone half decent.
Roll on the useless tw*tt Holloway.

The "Let's Be Positive" thread

Optimistic as always.............No more 11 men defending corners (hopefully)

Someone with tatical nous ? PLEASE !!!!!!!

Rosenoir,Lewington,Downes etc no thanks !

Wilson would be good IMO............But do we think Holloway would really get the job/want it ?

Whoever it is lets just get them in and move on.

I think that this could potentially be great news - i know for a fact that a number of old school bees players - Dobson, Tabb etc did not get on with MA at all...I think they may all have turned by the end of the season!

I see no other reason why those lads didn't play to their potential...Pratley was a fantastic player and Brooker would have been in a side which contained a more solid centre!!

The only player who ended the season on form was Tabby and that was cos he felt he had a point to prove to MA who constantly played him out of position!

If we can get a new manager in soon - try and talk Tabby round and get prattley back ....then we could potentially be in great shape.

A Danny Wilson with the coca cola £50k to fund a striker and Skulason to come in....I think we could do alright out of this!!

Nice fresh start with some promising youth players coming through and a decent manager in to get us playing some nice football.

There is logic in what you are saying (although I am not feeling so optomistic as you this moment!)

MA's great skill was as a motivator, witness how he turned round Wally's team of failures.

The problem with "motivators" is there is not a lot left when it stops working. The likes of Coppell and Gradi have a greater sense of tactics and nouse to get out of trouble. You could see at the end of the season that MA was becoming less effective, hence the endless tinkering with team selection and odd Sunday League type substitutions...he basically ran out of steam.

Problem for us is who's next..a motivator again or a tactician...this could just be a very critical appointment for our future.

The "Let's Be Positive" thread

1. MA was becoming bigger than the club

2. It was obvious that MA had 'lost' the players towards the end of the season and didnt have a clue how to turn things round either motivationally or tactically..

3. We MIGHT (if the board have got any bloody sense and want to bring fans back) get someone in who gets us to play some good football at last!!

4. He hasn't signed anyone yet so a new manager can bring his own players in and make his own judgement on the ones we have left..

The "Let's Be Positive" thread

The last 2 posts (14 & 15) sum up exactly my thoughts at present. MA is a motivator, a 'lesser Keegan', if you like. When the exhortations are exhausted though, what else is there? Tactics always seemed a weakness, particularly when having to 'chase' a game.

It was apparent at the end of the season that he was becoming physically & mentally worn out, & this was the subject of debate in our part of Brook Rd long before the Play-Off misery was realised. Last year v. Sheff.W. there was still optimism in the crowd for better things, despite the defeat. This year v. Swansea, I felt a sense of realism, finality even, that this was as far as this incarnation of BFC could go.

I do hope he does have another job lined up to give us some compensation. I wouldn't like to see him lost to football & literally gardening again, as he still has a family & mortgage to support.

Thanks for the good memories, but for the sake of your health, please try to
be less intense!

I think that MA has shown with the finish to the season that he did not have what it takes to get us promoted without the unlimited budget that he seams to want and we certinally dont have, so hopefully the new Manager will. And he can get some young hungry players and finish the job MA started but could not finish!

Onwards & Upwards

 Does that mean Stephen Hunt can come back?

MA's clear out was something most of us agreed with and will be helpful for the new man. :)

Holloway's side's play sh*te football so he can keep on gardening as far as I'm concerned.. Besides, the longer he's without a job the longer QPHa have to pay for two managers and brings them closer to coming back down to where they truly belong!!

If Col U can get promoted with crowds of 3000 then so can we. Money is an excuse for failure, not the reason.

erm money pays players wages and we can't afford the ones we have which, is why they have been put on the transfer list! Any way you look at it we are in deep sh*t. So take off those rose tinted specs people we will not be promoted next season whoever the manager is....try the other end of the table! Hope I'm wrong though!

The "Let's Be Positive" thread

This latest instalment of crisis BFC, will hopefully help to hammer home how much sh*t we are in and that every year at GP is a bonus.

It also may start to get the apathetic fans angry at the scumbags from the old board who are still collecting their perks and laughing at us. ie Altonwood Eddie & Herting

It would certainly be interesting to see their accounts and decipher just how they have managed. I think the debt-servicing would be a key distinguishing factor between our two clubs.
