Sounds like a decent deal for a decent, hard working player. Good luck to you Marcus, you deserve it!

The Marcus Bean thread

Good luck Marcus. Just don't come back and bite us on the arse. Thanks.

The Marcus Bean thread

What an excellent deal. Any player at our level would be grateful for a three-year deal. Glad he didn't go to league 2 or Leyton Orient. He won't enjoy playing at that sh*tty, empty stadium though.

The Marcus Bean thread

............good luck to the Beanieman............

The Marcus Bean thread

Very best of luck Marcus - I look forward to seeing you play at Griffin Park next season - make sure you're fit to play so we can show our appreciation

The Marcus Bean thread

Sounds like a good move, John Ward is a good manager and they seem to play good football. Good luck Marcus...........

The Marcus Bean thread

Excellent deal for Marcus. As Smiffie said as to the wisdom of letting him go only time will tell.

The Marcus Bean thread

3 years? wow. you get less for murder...
Good luck Marcus...

The Marcus Bean thread

Three year deal? - good on him.

The Marcus Bean thread

Well done Marcus- good deal for a good guy, happy to see you get their player of the season vote and promoted via the play offs as long as we're in the top 2. Do us one last favour, give that R******s a career ending injury with an over zealous challenge in pre season training.

The Marcus Bean thread

As other have said 3 year deal is great for him, not sure what it says about Col U's ambition or expectations but best of luck to Marcus hope it goes well for him there.

The Marcus Bean thread

Ditto most of the above, no problem with club, good manager, try to play good football, came just 1 place below us last season (I think) and working to improve so a 3 year deal there must be just what Marcus wanted ...... security and he gets to stay in the south. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, well deserved, always gave 100% and was a fine example of commitment on the pitch to younger players, in years to come may even be remembered as a bit of a Bees legend. Leaving with no bitterness or rancour (at least publicly) and has always behaved with respect with nothing but good words and fond memories to describe his time at Brentford. Thanks for all your your efforts and the good memories, Beano, wish you every success and all the very best for the future, with the usual exception of when you play against us!

The Marcus Bean thread

Good luck and all the best Mr Marcus :sorted:

The Marcus Bean thread

People don't forget in the end he wasn't good enough. A couple of seasons ago I voted for him as my player of the year. Watching him at the end of the season I felt we needed to move him on and get someone else in.

The Marcus Bean thread

No need to go overboard about MB. Yes he done decent job for the Bees, but no doubt he got well paid for doing so.Point is, he is the enemy now and will be doing his best to turn us over next season.I wish him luck in 44 out of his 46 games, presuming of course he plays in every league game, but hope he has 2 stinkers against us.

Agreed but it's also nice to see a good lad doing well for himself

The Marcus Bean thread

Nah. Nuts to him booooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Booooooooooooooooooooooooo I say. Brentford re-ject! Brentford re-ject! Oh-oh, Oh-oh.

not going by our 2 encounters with them

The Marcus Bean thread

Agreed.. Glad he got a decent deal sorted..will applaud him on his return

Interesting reading your comments and best wishes to "Beanie". I'm sure he'll be ok at ColU ,as some have mentioned we're a nice enough club and he should be happy here. He could also put something back into our midfield which was looking a bit lightweight as last season unfolded.

2. Do us one last favour, give that R******s a career ending injury with an over zealous challenge in pre season training.

Not sure that'll happen, unless he plays against us. Rowlands wasn't offered a new contract.

PS

Haven't got a decent spare striker to let us have as well have you ? That's pretty much a priority for us , and has been or a long time.:)

Do you know where he has gone, was he that bad?

Shame to see Marcus go imo,but thats football.Wish him all the best and im sure he will do a good job for them.

I think he's still without a club. He wasn't at all bad , in fact we improved a lot when he played. The trouble was in the word when. I think the problem was he's proven to be too injury prone.

Strikers are a bit of a taboo subject at our club too, as you may remember from dominating twice against you last year but failing to finish you off.

Beanie will work his socks off for you, he is a real grafter and always does the shirt proud and will be missed by the faithful at GP, but IMO, he does not possess the technical quality to help you leapfrog us in the table next season.

Fair comment. Bean's a goodun just not what we need at this time.

That's the impression I've got from reading some of your comments on here, , that he's good box to box player who give 100%. Which is maybe just what we need with a couple of promising looking youngsters coming through the ranks." Marcus would set a good example as a player who gives his all. I don't know what's behind John Ward's thinking, but we do have a very talented midfielder in Anthony Wordsworth - whether he's staying or not is another question considering the attention he's attracted from "bigger clubs" like Charlton in the recent past . For my money your mate Rowlands had talent in buckets and I don't know of anyone at ColU who would disagree. I was amongst those who were disappointed that he wan't offered another contract. What is fairly obvious though is that with the cuts in players wages - up to 50% at ColU - "Beany" has done well for himself in the tradeoff between lower wages than previously (I presume) and a long contract.

My posts keep disappearing. Wanted to ask if you think Bean is a replacement for Wordsworth. You did respond but your post gone as well. Think you said rumour about Peterbro but think 'd could do well for us.

Just watched his interview with WEB. He truly is a great guy, and like us all wish him every success with Colchester Utd except of course when they play the mighty Bees.
