Would be very happy to have Ray Lew back.. but don't know if he'd be interested?? Would finally bring some quality coaching to the club.. :sorted:

ray Lew is a great coach...but a crap manager

The New Manager Thread

Didn't take the Fulscum long to appoint a new man did it. 2 days i beleve and we are still farting around. We dont even know if interveiws have started yet.
What a shower our management are .

I think that's a bit unfair ... after a lot of soul searching the board have decided not to approach Ferguson or Wenger, haven't ruled out Allardyce though.

The New Manager Thread

Whoever is appointed, in the fullness of time, to be the new manager their number one priority has got to be a defence coach. I was hopeful that it was the one thing that TB could bring but it was obviously not.

Consider this; without new loanees, our options are:

GK - Brown, Masters or Brown
RB - O'Connor or Pead
LB - Charles or ... Tillen?
CB - Heywood, Osborne, Partridge or Mackie
  • Out of this lot, Simon Brown is the only experienced GK but seems reluctant to come off his line;
  • O'Connor ought to be OK but looked out of place vs. Wycombe, he'll also be missed from midfield, Pead was truely awful against Peterborough;
  • LB, we don't actually have one! Charles is a junior CB, Tillen is a wimp, Partridge could be an option and Dickson is a midfielder wasted there.
  • Of the CB's, only Heywood is a shoo-in but he's slow, Osborne's quicker but an amateur, Mackie's injured (even when he's playing!) and we've not yet seen Partridge but he's no spring chicken.

Actually, apart from LB, there's no real reason this lot can't defend but there is a general sense of panic when they are being attacked. This needs a coach to sort it out; a MA-esque general gee-up is not going to be good enough.

WWB you surprise me with this. I have read your posts and you have a good knowledge of football and the club imho so I am surprised that you would want a man that would bring mayhem with him to come back.
He would want Lee whatshisname to come back so that would mean Brett being sacked as well as John probably. He would almost certainly want to bring back Whit so that would mean the end for AS, he has a very frosty relationship with the current chairman, he would almost certainly cause at least three other club staff to leave (if rumours are true) and he would want to spend the 250K earmarked for several young players on one or two experienced late in their career players ala Brooker and Newman.
He would demand a release clause for no fee if a Championship club came in for him and he would bring absolutely no guarantees of success with him.

If Fulham appoint a new manager, what is the likelihood of Lewington becoming available as a new man brings in his own staff?
Would Keith Millen not fancy a run as a No1 (if adams has applied then why not millen given similar roles at Championship clubs?

Seaton, who would you want to manage our club. I personally do not think he will come back. I think if the club do appoint a new man Andy Scott staying in an assistant managers role will be one of the conditions. All this is hear say just exactly as it is with you saying who Allen would like to bring in.

Your claims that he would have a frosty relationship with the chairman, from what I've read on this board there aint many people that like Dyke anyways.
Millen would not be up to the job he's unproven, we might just as well keep it as it is.
I make no secret that i'm a fan of Allens, yes he signed some sh*t in Brooker and Newman. But when you state the negatives please also state the positives. I for one will never forget the atmosphere at GP when we played Sheff Wed, some say he failed us. Well if he failed us what have the managers done since he left? IMHO being where we are now is unaceptable. I'm glad that we have people like abee and Bee H on the board real bees fans that care for the club as much as us.

The New Manager Thread

I was in favour of having MA back as manager, but I not sure he would want to while Dyke is still around.

It would need to be someone with experience of League football rather than an up and coming young manager from Non League.

The New Manager Thread

So Brentford made Allen 2 different offers and then stopped talks with Allen altogether :fishing:

Agree, this is getting beyond a joke.

The only quick option is to appoint Andy Scott.

I thought you were both against that

...rush this appointment, and it will be a disaster

WWB, don't waste your keyboard unnecessarily: Seaton Bee's claim is b***ocks.

Can we afford not to appoint AS? What more is he expected to do? Martin Allen is but a daydream, would he have done as well in such a short time with the existing players? As long as we stay in the division any further changes can be made next season.

i think we can do better than that

if in january the new manager (whoever he may be) strengthens the
squad in the right areas and the confidence is there, we should be
good enough to make a charge for the play offs.

even if we fall short, pride will be restored and
the impetus will set us up for next season

The New Manager Thread

I heard two rumours about Martin Allen today. First one, he was offered the job and turned it down. Second one, he offered to do it for the rest of the season for no money and we turned him down.

Not far off the mark from what i was told either.Either way i gather he is not coming back.

I don't think the latter is the case.

From what I gather 2 offers were made, one for just MA and one for MA and his team, each offer came with a different amount of money. Brentford then pulled the plug on the talks due to a past incident regarding the conduct of Mr Allen and a past incident :nono:

Allen can keep well away from this club thank you :sorted:

Cotterill, Adams (Please NO!!) and a few non league gaffers have thrown their names into the hat.

Basically we couldn't find or obtain the money to get him back................so there it ends..........

Maybe this poll needs to be restarted.........................give everyone the chance to vote again.

Would be interesting to see where all the Martin Allen votes go.

Might bring Perryman back with him? :fishing: Can't see it myself. Probably Ardiles agent making sure we all know he's still around. :sorted:

Good idea. Would be good to see a more uptodate list of the managers still in the running. I'm a bit lost about who's in and who's not now.

The New Manager Thread

letsa just toss billy davis into the pot as well then apparently he has said he is ready to return to football doesnt mind where? did a good job at derby before they got to the premiershite

The New Manager Thread

It needs to be someone with alot of experience if we're gonna change things.

The New Manager Thread

the club should offer the job to Andy Scott till the end of season and look at the managers situation then.if he continues the way he has started he should be offered the job if things don't go so well that would be a better time to bring in a new man.

The New Manager Thread

what time is this board meeting?

Give him a go until the end of this season and then take it from there.

The New Manager Thread

Don't speak to soon.

After about 10 games last season everyone was singing the praises of Leroy Rosenior.

Although I think it might be time to change my signature.

:sorted: you are correct about leroy, AS the same?

A bit Ironic that the Brentford Official Website has a "Job Vacancy" section but there's no mention of needing a manager in it :)

Good question SCB. anyoine know what time this board meeting is at. I have no nails left.
