The alternative is just raised taxes or let a run down area fester.

Not happy at all with this.

Don't take this the wrong way, mate, but maybe you should emigrate to Paris?!Dangerous said:Not happy about this as we londoners will pay for this in a big way watch the tax rises and plane, train and every thing else in london go up 10 fold while as per norm we will have a small increase in wage.

An extra £20 a year if you live in a London borough. You won't notice it. And it will be in the Council Tax, so it won't affect your pay packet at all!Dangerous said:Happy about beating the frogs I am not happy about the Tax rises this will affect my pay packet.

As he is a peer I would consider that unlikely.ChessingtonBee said:Unfortunately, he will be the next Tory Prime Minister.
Leicester Bee said:As far as I know, there is only a proposed £20 per year for 10 years, increase in our council tax bills.
Ok, this may not be desirable to many, but considering most people could not tell you what their council tax bill is anyway, and it only works out at £1.67 per month, I don't think that this is the end of the world.
Transport cost increases have been occurring for years, and I highly doubt that this will change much. However, I do believe that the money will be better spent.
The creation of jobs creates less of a burden on our economy. The regeneration of East London will undoubtedly cause less socio-economic problems that they currently suffer from. With tourism accounting for 5% of London's turnover per annum, this will increase substantially and make London richer. London also will become a city for global companies to invest more into to make their presence known. This is additional monies coming into the British economy from abroad.
All in all, coupled with the social benefits, I can see few reasons not to support it, especially now that the decision has been made.
Most of all, it makes me proud to be British.
