The Olympic Torch

Coming to a town near you. It started its journey this week through Cornwall. My folks live down there and the torch passed through their village. I got a great account from my Dad. Apparently -they don't get a lot of entertainment down in that part of the World- Truro was mobbed and the streets full of people but by the time it got on the road things were a bit quieter. However every hamlet, nook and village along the route celebrated by hanging out bunting and people were out to support and wave flags and be ‘part of history’. Being in deepest darkest Cornwall where your mum’s your sister and the sheep are nervous the torch was surrounded by a very high level of security incluind outriders and MI5 joggers with Bazookas. This is Cornwall. Also passing in front of the torch lest we forget the founding principles of the Olympian dream sped several oversized vehicles advertising the main official Olympic sponsors in some sort of twisted American style cavalcade. This is Cornwall. Then the torch went out in Devon and got carried by leading light of English culture and sporting achievement Will.i.am. Or as I call him in my house ****.is.me

So expect to see this twisted cavalcade in a town near you soon.

The Olympic Torch

It will coming past my work in Kingston on the 27th July.

The Olympic Torch

It's a national disgrace that these people are able to coin it in by selling them. I'd put a stop to it now by not letting them keep them then auctioning them centrally for charity.

The Olympic Torch

If anyone is currently following Charlie Brooker on twitter I think this qualifies as tut #cameronsbritain

The Olympic Torch

Build a bonfire, build a bonfire, put the Fulham on the top Queens Park Rangers in the middle and Olympic torch the ****ing lot !

Oh it's coming through Hanwell by the way Yeahhhhhhh !

The Olympic Torch

Anybody know what the spread is on the number of times it will go out during the relay? If one was superstitious one might think that the torch having gone out once at the lighting ceremony in Greece and once already during the relay might be an omen suggesting problems for the games.

The Olympic Torch

It will go past the end of the road, but id rather stay in and watch TV, then see some chintzy tracksuited runner holding an oversized cigarette lighter for 20 seconds

The Olympic Torch

It comes through Northolt in 2 months...the person holding it better run fast lol

The Olympic Torch

can't get excited about it, last summer you could have watched loads of kids torching things all around the country.

Yeah, according to the website it starts there, so will spend a grand total of about 5 minutes in Northolt lol, I would have thought they'd start off in the village and go through the Hills rather than around them, if you're going to show Northolt off to the world then at least show a decent part of it rather than just the edge of the hills and smiths farm lol

Think you have got to be sad, simple or mad to want to see a flame pass by!!!! I have tickets to the Olympics crap events and am going because I don't want to explain why I didn't go in years to come.... But arsing around trying to see a flame for ten seconds as it goes passed is a complete waste of time in my book

would you not look out of the window if the queen walked by or would you think its just another old woman, I see loads of those anyway.

The Olympic Torch

I would to make sure the old goat doesn't sit on my wobbly wall. I am always having to tell builders and kids to stop sitting on it.

The queen is not carrying the touch though is she!!!! Yesterday the news was reporting that some 94 year old was carrying it. Is this really news worthy. The torch symbolises the self righteous do gooders and hanger on celebrities and a few hard luck stories... Probably only about 5 per cent of the people carrying it I mindly respect...

Get some railings. You maybe a prudent non drink driver but how will you feel when Billy the builder hurts himself and is unable to work to feed his family because you failed to maintain your wall properly..

The Olympic Torch

I'd hope he'd sue the bereaved family of the dead builder for the damage to his wall

Totally agree - cannot believe its happening to be honest.

the torch symbolises the Olympics, end of.

And though the Queen isnt carrying it you miss my point, its about what she symbolises.

For the record she is in the squad for 4x400m relay.

The Olympic Torch

I think a pound sign or lips kissing and arse would be more symbolic of the Olympic movement.....

The Olympic Torch

Just gone past my house torch bearer absolutely soaking wet thousands on seafront....

The Olympic Torch

Can't believe no one bothered to get Sir Ian Botham involved with all this.

The Olympic Torch

It came past the top of my road a couple of hours ago, couldn't see much through the window, but it did seem a bit naff.

Ffs, a poor little kiddy did that for charity... Oh sorry, you probably mean the 'real' one...

The Olympic Torch

The torch goes over Kew Bridge and through Brentford, London Road and Hounslow on 24th July

The Olympic Torch

Saw it in Hatfield on Sunday afternoon - huge crowds at the sports centre - but it was being carried by a very fit young lady.

The Olympic Torch

Saw it in slough today around 12:45 the changeover for the next leg. Loads of people there and was a buzzing excited atmosphere, very good :)

The Olympic Torch

Someone decided to streak while it was going past! Link

The Olympic Torch

The horse that Frankie Dettori was on at Ascot wasn't too keen on having the torch near him today.

The Olympic Torch

Terrific atmos in Egham this afternoon, place was rammed with happy families etc., it looked like it was Ray Wilkins who was running with it, might have been Uncle Fester though... No sure
