The Playoffs: Preview

Well, we might as well look at what’s ahead of us now.

Swansea in a two-legged semi final.

Not a walkover but we’ve had six points from them this season.

This squad is not responsible for past playoff failures. England won a WC penalty shoot-out last time out, so anything is possible. KTF.

PS, Let’s try to keep this thread free of emotional posts about missing out on the top two.

Games & Times:

Sunday 26 July Swansea City v Brentford ko 6:30pm

Wednesday 29 July Brentford v Swansea City ko 7:45pm

The Playoffs: Preview

Swansea are good for us to play, they aren’t stoppers and will try to play football which will suit us.

We need to get our groove back and some energy and attack the games!

The Playoffs: Preview

I’d rather say the season is over and we will play in the championship next season

Go away and take your negative nelly attitude to the match thread. This is about our victory over Swansea :sorted:

Sunday and Wednesday

One team in form and have got into the plays off's on the last game of the season, against a team who have dazzled all season, but have just failed at the final hurdle and now appear to be running on empty! What could possibly go wrong?? I for one hate the play offs with a passion, always have and always will. And yes you can quote me on that if we go up!!!

Just want this over one way or another. At least not too long to wait.

The Playoffs: Preview

The second leg will be the last game at Griffin Park. Huge huge fixture. Hope the players are aware of this.

At least our matchday tickets will be cheaper next season in the championship. We always fail at the playoffs and I have no reason to feel excited and just want the season over. I'm feeling so deflated that we came so close. The team did so well to get within one game of going up and its the belief that kills you when you fail. I agree with Warrenbee, I absolutely hate the playoffs with a passion.

Really hard to see how we will pick ourselves up in time for this. I just hope it was a nasty blip and we will come out all guns blazing.

Stick them in ice baths and lots of massage and rest. Get in Michael Caulfield and Shankley to help heal and raise the spirits

Hoping the players aren’t too spent after 9 games in 4 1/2 weeks, not many have had a rest and the play offs continues the intensive schedule.

Being positive is a good thing but being realistic is another, the squad looks tired they have put an enormous amount of effort to get so close but i feel the devastation of missing out will have a great affect and expectation of us to win the playoffs will be to much i feel, TF has brought the best out of this squad, but we do have a monkey on back regarding playoffs that needs to be got rid of :sorted:

Is it really that hard to just keep one thread about the playoffs and not about missing out on the top two? If you want to vent surely you can do it on another thread. If you’re not interested in the playoffs no need to post on this one!

It’s all in our own hands again. And in the six league games against the three other teams involved we’ve won five and drawn one (having been 2-0 up).

Even if it doesn’t seem like it, there’s room for positivity.

No reason why we can’t do this. On our day, we are the best team in the league. We only need 3 (or maybe even just 2) good performances and we will be planning away days at Turf Moor and Bramall Lane.

Right, that was massively disappointing in a slightly unexpected way. I didn't think WBA would slip up at all so was pretty resigned to the play offs anyway, but we came ridiculously close to doing it, Ollie just needed to get a boot on that cross from Said and we'd have been up.. Oh well. Positive for me was that we did actually go for it in the end and created chances. Said was OUTSTANDING. If he can do that in the remaining games and drag a few up to his level then we've got a chance. We've a lot of players looking dead on their feet though so we should look to make some changes if we can. Swansea will at least try to play and allow us to play too, that will definitely help.

nott forest got ****ed hahah that cheers me up greatly after this week

Motivation is the key now. Two legs with the second at GP will help. We just need to get the confidence back and start to believe in ourselves again. A good game down in Wales and we could be back on track. We need a serious look at the footwear though !

Keep the Faith, all the teams have played the same amount of games and most of them would love to change places with us. We are going up.

Been the same for Swansea.

Pretty low tonight as all on here but on a note of optimism. 538 has us as 48% to win POs. Fulham 23%, Cardiff 17%, Swansea 11%.

We ARE the best team in this and should win it if we play to the level we are capable of.

Yeah, let's calm down and 'go again'. Still in our hands...

Not bad at getting to millenium or wembley but the rest is history,Team looks very tired after such a tough run, some need a rest so bring in some fresh legs because there are two maybe three tough games coming up!

People will be expecting us to fail now. Maybe that will play into our hands. It’s been a tremendous season and you don’t become a bad team overnight. I reckon there are a few twists and turns yet...PMA

I may be wrong, but surely 70 points is the lowest tally sufficient to qualify for the play-offs for many years. When we last qualified for the play-offs a few years back, we pipped Wolves for sixth spot with 75 points.

when is the play-off final?

If anyone's followed me, they'll know I'm definitely RTB. I'm also realistic about the demands of the Champ season.
Taking all that into account, keeping my feet on the ground, it'll be 3-0 Bees in the final v Cardiff.
Cheers.

Swansea looked dangerous at times at GP. Not an easy game but I think they will struggle to do what Barnsley and Stoke have done and relentessly pressure us and starve our front three. The first game is huge. If we lose a third game in a row the players will be hard to pick up. Get anything there and I fancy us to beat them at home and then win on the big Wembley pitch. Who would bet against this season getting even crazier?

The Playoffs: Preview

Swansea won't '10 men behind the ball' it, it's not their style and they haven't built the team to play that way. It will be quite open, and they will be better than they were previously with the addition of Brewster. I think for the neutral it will be a great tie, for us, we'll see lol

The Playoffs: Preview

If teams have worked us out, should we mix things up a bit? I still have great faith in our defense but I would consider changing our attack line up. What's to lose?

The Playoffs: Preview

There is a question over Mbeumo I think...because we have Fosu who could come in which would freshen things up. I think we need Dasilva although Jensen/Marcondes is up for debate as Marcondes' main strength is when teams sit back and he can put that ball though the eye of the needle, so less needed here. Not sure what else you'd change really...

Massive boost tonight with Swansea replacing Forrest as our opponents. Football is the winner. Come on you Bees. This is going to be fun.

We beat Swindon over two legs, after dealing with something a lot worse!

Over two legs I fancy us against Swansea
