This Season's Match Programme

Not as good a programme as previous years, I feel: disapponted for example that I couldn't find "They played for both sides".

In particular, is it just me (actually it's not as my 16-year old son had the same problem) or is the use of silver/grey (for example on the Barbet page) a bad move as it makes the text totally unreadable?

Any other thoughts?

This Season's Match Programme

My kids loved the back page squad information as they could mark who started, substitutions and red and yellow cards.

And I also enjoyed the QUALITY article about the West Country Minibus, particularly well written I thought.

This Season's Match Programme

I could not find the Watford attendance either

I really struggled to read most of the text!

As someone who was in charge of editing the programme for five years I can attest it's a thankless task. Especially when smart arses point out your mistakes when there's 26,000 words in each edition and only a one-man team putting it together. National newspapers are chock full of them every day with teams of subs but that's conveniently overlooked.

I wanted to produce something that you couldn't get on a website and I thought in the final two seasons I edited it, it did that.

I liked the format and content during your tenure but unfortunately eventually I stopped buying because some
weeks it was littered throughout with spelling mistakes and typos that jumped out of the page. It may have been a thankless task but you had at least two offers of weekly proof reading, both free of charge and one from a professional that I recall you declined and in a less than courteous manner.

Could have bet you'd pipe up!

Did you edit the programme?

I'd never have known!

In all seriousness, I don't think there's much point in physical club programmes these days. Sorry :(

It refers back to my original point where you have to offer content that can't be got elsewhere. If you simply reprint it on the club website then there's no point. It's a declining industry, no doubt.

Brentford 7 v 1 Gainsborough Trinity. Biggest home win since 1980 something.....

Yeah, thought of you and that story when we went 5-0 up on Saturday!

I didn't realise we used to have a section on bisexuality!

Depends what you want from it and your age to some extent.

Saturday’s programme mentioned something along the line of honouring our contract to produce programmes until 19/20 season. Does that suggest beyond that they may not be produced?

Who knows? Colchester give them away on the turnstiles now. I’m sure they will stay as long as we’re in the top two levels of football.

I always buy the programme and enjoy reading it at the game and in the pub afterwards. I didn't get to either the Watford or Rotherham games so haven't seen this season's programme but last season, printing text on a dark background and the point size being very small did make it difficult to read in the ground when the light in the stands was not great.

This Season's Match Programme

I quite liked the new programme and did read it pretty much cover to cover when I got home. £3.50 is a bit steep but I assume that it doesn't make a massive profit. Not sure there's enough in it to make it worth buying another until last home game of the season (I usually try and get this one if I'm at the match as it serves as a handy record of the whole season stats etc).

I've no idea who rebus is IRL, but I like his aim from his time as editor of having stuff in the programme which you can't just get off the internet. Not particularly sure that I remember many such nuggets (maybe stuff about ancient games, star players from the olden days?). Maybe the way forward would be to accept that there isn't really much interesting stuff you can put in which wouldn't be as easily put on the website and revert to 1950s/60s style programmes which were only a few pages long and didn't go much beyond team sheet and other basic info with some ads, then as Colchester is doing, just give it away with a match ticket. The club could supplement it with a thicker monthly glossy magazine for those who wanted to buy something more substantial and this could be something which was sold in local newsagents and by subscription (maybe with the spines when put together making a nice Bees related picture - Volume 1 2019-20 would obviously have to have that as a picture of GP).

I provided those! (water-downed versions).

I've got around 700 more comprehensive ones awaiting a use!!

Main complaint would be the use of colored fonts on some of the pages. The Glenn Poole article was very interesting but the use of black print on a brown background made it difficult to read and spoiled it. Perhaps someone could tell me what Barbet's best team is because I found it impossible to read. Even black print on red background isnt that easy to read. No point buying a programme if you cant read it.

Black and red are illegal to use as ink and envelope for posting. It causes eye strain. I told beesotted this for years. Did they listen?

This Season's Match Programme

Good read , just didn't like the drawings of players rather than proper pics.

Still good though

This Season's Match Programme

I enjoyed reading the programme. Thought it was better than last year.

I know so many people that buy the programme as a memento of the game.

Barnet have stopped printing match day programmes and just produce an online version (very sad).

Hope that we don't go down that road!!

Guess it will all be about the cost income ratio

No longer lists the away fans attendance figure. Terrible thing to omit.

This Season's Match Programme

I bought the programme yesterday and quite enjoyed reading it.

I'm not expecting a professional glossy mag, but there is some stuff there that I otherwise wouldn't have read, so I'm happy.

Last time, I complained that the text was hard to read because of the colours and fonts. Not so yesterday: much more readable, so a thumbs up from me on that front.

This Season's Match Programme

The programme showed the match referee against Southend as Keith Stroud! And yet I suspect the entire media team were at the game.

That's lazy work.

Arsenal programme £2:50 on Wednesday (compared to our £3:50).....presumably this is their normal price? Or is it more for PL games?
Seemed a decent price/read (although I got mine for free, so my judgement might be a bit biased......)

A reduced issue. Normal editions are more expensive and have more pages.

Added back in now, much better. The interviews from the 09 promotion season have been really good, they could have been longer actually, really good read.

The seller I purchased from had the 2 written over another The 50 was the same

Sounds like it is 350 0n PL days

WTF is going on with our covers.

They look dreadful and it’s hard to figure out who it is supposed to be.

Completely disagree, the Lewis McLeod cover with the old shirt and badge design looked great and was something new.

Yes, agreed. Quite like the covers this year. :)

Someone took my Lewis MacLeod issue. :(

Oi! Shadow! Have you got it?!? lol

This Season's Match Programme

Would much prefer an e-programme that maybe becomes available on the BFC app or sent via email to everyone who buys a ticket/members/ST holders.

Some thing interactive for the kids could be good like an app where they rate the players or a fantasy league style thing where they predict who will score/assist etc before a game and win prizes for getting the most points.
