This time last year

Had someone told us 12 months ago that we still had a chance to reach the play offs we would have taken it.

We have two games left, of which 1 win is required to guarantee a play off place.

Okay we should perhaps of got a result yesterday, but we didn't - the Luton game is now water under the bridge and one we must put behind us.

We travel to Wrexham on Tuesday, a team still with a chance of staying up, even though it is a slim chance.

MA and the team will go to the Racecourse and they WILL get the 3 points required, thus making Saturday more enjoyable.

Come on you BEEEEEES.

I wish I could share your optimism for Tuesday, but Wrexham are fighting for their lives and are in a rich vein of form....so its going to be very tough.
As its Brentford I can see this going all the way to Saturday with us nicking a 1-0 win over Hull to secure a play-off spot.
Its going to be an almost mirror image of last year.....having to win our last game of the season at home to secure our destiny.

COME ON YOU BEEEEEESSSSSSS

But we haven't got Rhodes to get that magic goal! Maybe Ryan Peters could repeat the feat? He's capable of it.

Having watched Wrexham om Sky this morning, no wonder Ughart scored 3 goals. Unmarked for all three, and I mean unmarked, even I could have put them away. Dont think he will get that much space from Turner or Sodje. Up front, well thats another matter but maybe this is the game we have all been waiting for when all the forwards click and we get 7 lol . Still when you consider where we were this time last season

The fact that Wrexham still think they have a chance of survival means they will need to come out and attack - hopefully leaving space at the back.

And just as a matter of interest - how many goals has the Argentinian scored at home? I believe most have been away - will that help us?

he has only scored 3 at home.

I heard it was 2, out of 19!

Ugarte isn't that good, give him space and he'll exploit it but (the times when i've seen him) if he's shackled well then he loses interest.

2 out of 22 at home.

I'd swap any 2 of our forwards(including Burton) for a guy who is a proven goalscorer in this Division! Our goalscoring ratio is very poor and I fear for next season whatever Division we are in!

No doubt we would struggle with the current setup in The Championship, but with a defence that boasts Sodje (I'd be very surprised if there is a better centre half in our division) and Turner we will have no worries as far as relegation is concerned in League 1. As well as these two I would expect O'Connor and Frampton to maintain their consistency levels.

If Martin Allen is here next season I would expect a stronger squad. The big question though, is can we get a natural goalscorer. They don't come cheap and they don't come along all that often.

Our ratio is poor, agreed, but no way is Ugarte proven in this division. He's scored a fair few, but mainly against cr@p defences (Oldham, Stockport, etc) but wait and see if he can do it next year when people start marking him more closely.

Our division is half made up of rubbish defences - doesnt mean we manage to score many!

Comparing last year at the summer break, we had literally no defence, other than Nelson in goal (after Sonko left).

We will go into next season with a settled, young & improving back 5 which now picks itself

----------Nelson----------
O'Connor, Sodje,Turner, Frampton

I am sure that Martin Allen can improve on the squad by this summer turning his full attention to improving the midfield & forward areas.

Whichever division we are in, I am sure we will have a better squad next season...

PMA

Said we would do it.

WELL DONE BEES.

I think our defence would be good enough for the championship, with:

O'connor - Sodje - Turner - Frampton

If we were to go up, i think we would need to buy a proven goalscorer but i would definately keep Burton to play with him, the man is a footballing genius.

Of course, hopefully by sometime early next season Alex Rhodes will be fit and ready again. Got a feeling him and Burton (if he stays) could form a very profitable partnership. Rhodes has the awareness and speed of both mind and feet to feed off of all the good work Burton does during a game.

As a matter of interest, Ugarte is from Spain not Argentina.

Note to larry - do your research.
