This Year's Forecast

I think it's reported that we have played most games in England and it got me thinking how this had impacted the budget. Some things I was wondering were;

  • Is the JPT cup run costing us money because we have 3 of our 4 ties away from home? Do the expenses outweigh any income we might get?
  • What's the prize money for the JPT?
  • I assume the Carling Cup games against Hull and Everton were very positive but what about Birmingham? Does 15k at Birmingham equal a good return for us?
  • What was the prize money for getting to the Carling Cup 4th round?
  • Contentious one - does money made in the cups largely go back to the players in bonuses or does the club get the lion's share?
  • If the club gets it, does this go into the playing budget or is it mainly used to pay off creditors?

Just interested is all. No agenda. :)

  • What was the prize money for getting to the Carling Cup 4th round?
According to wiki:

The prize money is awarded by the Football League. The winners of the League Cup win £100,000 and the runners-up win £50,000. The losing semi-finalists will each take home £25,000.

I can't imagine it will be much for 4th Round!

This is a quick reply as I don't have immediate access to some of your queries. As far as I'm aware there's no prize money for Carling Cup games. I assume JPT games are in line with FA Cup matches in that the away team claims expenses thus we are not out of pocket. All three have not required an overnight stay either.

There is prize money for the JPT, (even 1st round losers get £5k) not much though! But getting to the final could be worth something. No prize money for the LC though, what was our 'cut' from the Brum game? £25k ??

I have no problem with it going to the players in bonuses this season.

I read the rules for the JPT a while ago. Interestingly they had rules to cover the eventuality whereby gate income doesn't cover match and travel expenses :(

Surprising. I thought we'd had a fair few in Wales.
