Can you? See his thinking.
I can’t. After we scored I thought with 35 minutes left we’d at the very least draw.
We lost all momentum. Forss adds nothing.
Surely, tactically, playing Toney, Forss, and Goode up front was forced upon him. (forgive the pun). Goode must have been carrying an injury or something, hence more and more of the long ball as the game progressed in the 2nd half. No one plays a centre back with division 2 match experience as centre forward in the Premier by choice, do they? Either way, we are very short of options from the bench due to injuries, which appear to be stacking up. Janelt, for instance, wasn’t a good look. The club have a policy of non-disclosure on this type of thing, so we’ll probably have to draw our own conclusions.

Thomas Frank

I reckon we have had three bad 'halves' - West Ham second half and the first half at Burnley and yesterday.

Overall a pretty good record for a promoted club but sadly the latter two cost us dear as there were 6 points for the taking.

Newcastle will be tough with a new manager, new owners and 52,000 Geordies supporting their team but it has to be onwards and upwards from now on.

Thomas Frank

The subs.

Hand was forced with Goode for Zanka (although maybe he could have been braver and brought on Ghoddos and dropped CN into the back three)

He then made the right call with Ghoddos for Janelt at HT.

When we were chasing it at 2-1 down Forss was the only real attacking option left on the bench, can see why he brought him on tbh. In theory taking Henry off and pulling Canos out to the left made sense as well, but again wished he had been braver and sacrificed a CB instead.

Sometimes just chucking on another forward isn't the answer.

We should have left things as they were for a while and then tried Forss in the last 5 minutes.

Agree completely. We were comfortably on top and the positional changes killed that.

Thomas Frank

For me there were two really worrying things yesterday.
First Thomas's comments at the end saying the first half was fine and their first goal was a Messi like effort. It was a dreadful goal to concede- not a glove on him. Also first half was very poor. Why can't he admit to that.
secondly tactics for the final 25. When we scored and I looked at the clock I thought we could go on and win it. We were rampant. Thomas kills that 5 mins later with the sub. Unless Rico was injured - WHY? . In the past Thomas has always said stay calm, keep playing and it will come. Look at that Millwall final 10. No panic. Just pass. The tactics to continually lump the ball forward we're league 2 tactics at best and played into Norwich hands. It was the first time I've seen him panic and was worrying.
Anyway, that's me finished for today. Got to rest my voice as I had none left at 90 minutes again as usual. In response to earlier criticism, I thought West Stand did a decent job second half. Shame not matched in other parts of the ground. You Beeeesss!!!

getting fed up with tf saying the same things after yet another defeat...........if it carrys on like this he'll be saying this in the championship again next year:(

yes we have more of the game, yes we have more attempts, yes we are unlucky maybe, yes injuries are bad but he needs to find a way to win games and not keep giving away crap goals against rubbish teams like norwich, burnley etc......this is now a proper relegation battle and he needs to realise that playing jensen in every bleedin game is not doing us any favours......please dont persist with this tf as our midfield needs more strength and jensen is NOT the answer to our problems

Thomas Frank

Certainly taking off Rico took away all the momentum we had built up.
You're absolutely correct TW3bee, taking of Rico when he has just scored his first goal for the season, playing well and now hungry for a second goal now his confidence high and the momentum in our favor, TF takes him off 'Wow'. TF has tried this option 3 time last season when we are chasing a game and it has never been successful. I think we looked desperate chasing the equaliser, lost some momentum and shape when Rico came off. Oh, and those suggesting he might have picked up an injury, hence the substitution is incorrect, he has no injuries.

I think TF is a fantastic coach and man manager. Probably the best and most successful in living memory at our club
And I expect Thomas will still be in charge whatever happens at the end of this season.
Of course, we are no AV, but with Dean Smith being fired after 5 consecutive defeats, and Thomas on 4, I did wonder how many more before it gets a little dodgy for him.
Wouldn't surprise me if he decides to move on himself if it gets a bit too hot.
Football fans are fickle and I don't think he will take the inevitable abuse if there is not an upturn in results.

I think you answered your own question in the 1st two paragraphs. Thomas has earned himself enough goodwill to last a lifetime (and rightly so).
Thomas has already had us punching above our weight and that doesn't take into account the slightly lightweight squad at the start of the season, exacerbated now by a horrendous injury list.
He could help himself a little at the moment by not reverting to long ball, chucking centre halves up top and so on, it must be said (and I am sure he'll correct this soon).

The guy that sits next to me at the stadium reckons other teams have sussed out how we play.

Expect once TF has watched back/analysed the 90mins he'll see a different 1st half. I don't read too much in to post match interviews, heat of moment, needing to stay positive & keep players onside etc etc.

Good days bad days.
Thomas had a bad one yesterday. It happens.
Zanka going off on 12 - throws Goode on and weakens Pontus position in the game.
The Forss sub didn’t work - Marcus as a number 10 was invisible.
Bryan wide right kinda gave them problems but the further Mbeumo is away from Toney the less effective Toney is.
Sergi wide left got the ball more, but Rico unless injured was fine and showed it by scoring - he gave width.
Dyche outwitted him last week, Farke this. It happens.
Thomas did a number on Klopp and Arteta and Moyes earlier this season.
At 1-2 we had the momentum, the substitution took that away and sent us frantic - Forss came on with a kitchen sink yesterday and we became orbital like a Volleyball team.
Bay day at the office.
As Frank would say - Aaaah it’s Football it happens.

He will not be sacked by us just for a run of poor results

Judging by what I read in your comments I suggest you keep your rants and your "analysis" of our players to yourself as they portray you as neither a qualified "coach" with any knowledge of football.nor an individual who can accept that we are in a league in which we have no divine right to expect to beat anyone
You are fond of scapegoats ..Vibe, Sawyers, Canos and now Jensen...and you have been proved to be wrong. on all counts!
No true fan likes seeing their team.get beat but it happens..get over it. I still reckon we are good enough to stay up whereas I.recall you writing off our chances of even getting promoted last year.

.TF is the best and most successful manager I have had in over 50 years of supporting Brentford..I don,'t think you can teach him anything.

Do you honestly see Thomas giving up his first ever season managing in the EPL to go and manage Denmark?
I hope he doesn’t but how many opportunities do you get to manage your national side?…..and they are a brilliant side to watch

He's only 48, plenty of time on his side. Can't see he'll give up managing in the EPL having only been in it for 11 games.

In 5+ years time maybe, but not yet.

Think you're over simplifying it.
Whilst Arteta & Klopp had the proper treatment of outstanding performances by us, we nicked the win at West Ham.

We nicked 2 points there that we should have had in a couple of homes (by drawi g, not losing)

Over a season I think these even themselves out pretty much tbh

Yes I agree to a degree but your national side don’t come calling all that often

Thomas Frank

As far as I'm concerned TF is well in credit, but what a sh*t day at the office!
Hopefully he won't be trying the Goode/Forrs combo, because if it doesn't work against that weak team yesterday it never will. Norgaard as sweeper in a 3-4-3 and canos and Mbueno up top with Rico and Roerslev had to make more sense FFS. Where's the Brentford footy gone? The squad is thin, but there's just enough to keep playing the way we have for the last couple of seasons?!

“how many more”
“dodgy for him”
“decides to move on”
“too hot”
“inevitable abuse”

He’s low down on a 5 man shortlist. I doubt he’d even want to go there anyway.
He’s pals with their Danish DoF. I don’t think he’d think it the right move now but can see him being a longer term target fitting the sort of structure they’re putting in if he has a good season with us at this level.

Thomas Frank

If Hjulmand goes to AV I'd lump on TF as he'd never in a million yrs turn that opportunity down.

I fear you might have something there. Denmark have a very good squad of players right now, the opportunity doesn't come around very often and who knows what his family might think about the chance to move back home again?

And TF did mention how he (and Brian R) were very much in a bubble in West London for much of last year during lockdown etc.

Given that Denmark have already qualified if Hjulmand does go to Villa they could appoint a caretaker and wait until the summer for a manager to take them through Qatar and beyond. That might make the job more appealing to TF and maybe BR as assistant as well while also giving them the benefit of a full season of PL work and seeing many of the opposing team star players up front. Longer term that would be better for them if they as fairly young men looked to return to club management. They’re professional enough to keep working hard for us if appointed now.

Denmark are a serious team who were very unlucky at Wembley against England who went on to a penalty shoot out to decide the Euro's. I'd put Denmark into the potential WC winners bracket, of course they'd need luck of draw, schedule and injuries etc but where we are now they'll certainly be targeting a long run next November. As a result I doubt Hjulmand will be looking at any other job even as a part time role prior to the World Cup; I'd be shocked if he replaced the opportunity he has with Denmark for the Villa job. He'll get a top club job when the time is right.

That would have to be BFC's hope, certainly.

Otoh, if Villa offered to triple, or even quadruple, Hjulmand's salary....

Money talks I guess but I'd be confident he would get the same deal maybe even a better deal in 18 months after a good World Cup. I see TF as a future Denmark head coach but not pre WC 22.

International managers don't earn nearly as much as club managers (the England job excepted), especially with middle-tier countries like Denmark.

While as we know, the PL is just about the highest paying league for club managers, a few individual clubs like PSG or Real M excepted. (Or the Gulf, but I doubt Hjulmand would be interested in them)

Though culturally Scandinavians are broadly less motivated by money when they already have plenty. The improvement in salary is only a marginal benefit (as Wenger once said, you can only sleep in one bed in one house at a time). It’s different to players who have a limited career length and for whom salary is a strong indicator of where they are in the pecking order.

It's about opinions but if it was me and I was managing my country on a decent wage a year out from taking a very talented squad into the WC finals I'd find it very hard to walk away from that.

What if he doesn't have a stellar WC and Denmark underperform (it's happened with other well fancied teams before btw)?

Is that the same Wenger who's now taking a big wedge from FIFA to do the Saudi's dirty work for them over a biennial World Cup?

You know, the same Wenger who was poison on international football when he was a club manager?

If he’d jumped ship from Arsenal at the chance to increase his pay you might have a point. Whereas in fact this is just whataboutery.
