I’m surprised that Villa haven’t already put in an official approach- if only to try and unsettle us for tomorrow

Thomas Frank

I think TF is smart enough & ambitious enough to know that any team with bad luck & injuries outside of the 'big 6' & Newcastle could go down.
However if we were unlucky he would not be sacked,if Villa or Leicester went down he almost certainly would be.
He will get a big job, just like Potter.Just not yet.

Thomas Frank

Don’t think there will be an approach from villa now..all the people that were gritting their teeth about villa can breath easy now…

Interesting post match words from Thomas and then reportedly from Ivan.
Ivan lambasting his team mates with a totally inept performance and acting like school kids. Thomas not so forthright, which I would expect... thing is should Ivan have been so honest in his assessment or left it for the team to discuss internally Monday

Thomas Frank

His post match interview reminded me of the embarrassing post match garbage that Martin Allen used to spout.

”At least we managed to stop the bleeding after the third goal”

That, sadly, is complete nonsense. Nothing changed. It was only poor finishing from Villa that didn’t see at least a five goal half time deficit.

I hope Ivan included himself in that, his pasing was really bad at times.

Some issues for Frank at the moment;

1) He doesn’t know his best XI
2) Key players are injured or unfit
3) The team isn’t performing to the same levels away from home

I think switching between 4-3-3 and 5-3-2 so often and having as much rotation as we have had lately is limiting the players ability to get some consistent form.

Can’t mitigate for injuries but the fitness issues need sorting. To have players like Ajer, Dasilva, Damsgaard, Lewis-Potter “available” but playing at like 50% of their level is a major problem.

Don’t know what it is away from home but it seems like a mentality thing. We seem to concede consecutive goals regularly and a bit overwhelmed by home crowds etc. Not sure if it’s just a personnel thing or something Frank can influence.

As I've posted in the match report. It's not at all clear what our 'plan' is at the moment. We'd been geared up for 4-3-3 from the summer but the squad we've ended up just isn't up to it, particularly with Norgaard out. We've got no pace up front bar Mbeumo who's having a mare at the mo, but we can't drop him because, well, who would you replace him with? Midfield feels like you could just chuck all the numbers up in the air, and pick the first three who land and you'd prob get much the same result whatever the combination. Defence, well, just as it looks like we've got it sorted we have to change it up and it all goes to sh*t. We've probably got the most experienced set of CBs we've ever had in a squad and we still can't defend a bloody corner!!

We were lost out there today and Ivan's comments reflected the frustration we all felt. I'm pretty sure he included himself in the description too. Without Norgaard and Jansen (and Mee) on the pitch we look rudderless and leaderless.

I think he did. Their was a brutal truth in his words. There was no lack of effort on Ivan's part but he charged around the pitch popping up everywhere trying to make something happen but left us without a focal point in attack except for poor old Bryan who couldn't hit a Cows arse with a Banjo......

Becoming a bit stubborn in the way we set up away from home. We always look better when we set up to win the game. Villa aside (game dead after 10mins) we need to get back to this philosophy. Or does he not trust the squad?

Shipping that many goals so easily away from home is very unlike us.

I don’t think he trusts the midfield and so resorts to a 5 at the back. Norgaard sets the tone and the formation - TF got him in ASAP at the start of the season

The game was over and they took their boot off our throat is the truth

Has not cracked our midfield away yet this season, defo miss Norgaard seems like we have nobody who can do roughly the same job...
Except last season Janelt filled in pretty well? But we don't seem to trust him to do it this year.

Sorry to ask, but if you enjoyed it could you possibly leave a review on Amazon if you have time? Many thanks.
I forgot to add, I liked it that much I bought it twice!
I couldn't get on with the paperback, it's so long since reading a real book, I had to buy it again for my Kindle!

Linked with Spurs..... could be clickbait rubbish. Sorry, don't know how to upload the article. Looks like two spurs supporters group websites

Spuds? No chance now now. Maybe in five years.

Next stop an established mid-table side or even a sleeping giant in The Championship.

It's consistently reassuring that the click-bait writers link Thomas to English big clubs that can generate high-volume clicks from fans of those clubs.

Weird. I can’t see any reason he’d leave us for a team in a similar position let alone go and have a pop at getting Preston promoted, whereas Spurs would be an offer he could hardly refuse.

It's only a matter of time before Thomas gets offered something at a bigger club with more resources. He is ambitious too and although he knows he will probably never be as snug a fit for a club as he is here, at some point he will want to test himself at the next level.

I don't think that club is Spurs at the moment, but in modern times, it's rare for a manager to do more than 5 years at a club. We are unlikely to choose the time Thomas leaves us. Hope I'm wrong, but we can't be too far away from the point where TF feels he's taken us as far as he can.

True, but hopefully there’s further we can go and having 2-3 seasons with us progressing in the PL gives him a longer term career than jumping now.
