Thomas Frank

I have a hunch this will be his last season with us.

Negative. I know, I know.
He's contracted to 26/27 season (i think), so thats another 2 seasons after this one. Expect temptation will come his way again this summer , lets see. I have confidence the club have a plan b up their sleeve , this is our modus operandi after all .

Thomas Frank

I’m picking up those vibes from him.
I think he’s ready for a different challenge.
Lets hope not ?

Lets just hope it’s because of all the injuries hampering his plans. I seem to remember him beeing like that when ever we have been short of players in the past.

I think/hope that he is just annoyed by the situation.

Thomas Frank

Thomas knows he has a support network at Brentford that will be difficult to match elsewhere. Expectations are also realistic compared to many other clubs. So it's a good set up here.

If he were offered a Graham Potter-type contract at Chelsea it might set him up financially for life and he could have a career break, then maybe manage the national side. However, those sort of deals may be more difficult to come by nowadays

One Win in 7 and an injury list too long for comfort makes someone like Frank irritable.
Thomas stated before he hates losing and his mind doesn’t rest unless he‘s winning.
The 24 hour rule think and reflect on the result come win or lose is a fine mantra, but difficult to apply when the footballing gods turn their cheek.

Frank has an over active mind re: football, which most managers do. Think Pep pre Christmas haunted look.
Nothing to see here other than a perfectionist juggling with reality.
We all have bad periods at work when things outside our control go against the grain.
A few weeks time when the fixtures look kinder and injury list reduces and the furrowed brow will disappear and sparkle will return.

I'm sure you're right.

Let's just hope he is rewarded with no more setbacks with players returning from injury or new injuries. His dedication to us deserves a more level playing field against top 10 clubs, with our best players, instead of having to make do and mend all the time.

Thomas Frank

Seriously? Being asked the same stupid questions by the same stupid people week after week. Would test the patience of St Thomas let alone Frank
Agree and a manager that for the last two seasons that has been hampered by the number of injuries that we have had. To stay up last season was a massive achievement although I never ever felt we would be relegated. We all know the kind expansive football TF wanted to play last season and this (after the impressive 2nd season in the PL) but we need to bodies to be fit. We haven't had that. We saw signs against Newcastle at home but then we fell again to many injures thereafter. I feel for TF. He knows we have the players but when half are injured it is bloody tough.

Thomas Frank

I agree, he is agitated by certain questions and he looks very tired .....hopefully our sports physco man is on the case ......"fatigue makes fools of us" , he recently said on radio which caught my ear !
Nothing to do with over training then. As was revealed by Brian R two seasons back (much to his surprise).

The second contorted question was remarkably stupid and seemed to amaze and annoy him in equal measures. It seemed to be the sort of thing you’d read in a FB Loyal post. I think that set the tone for the rest.

Had a new lease of life at the start of the season, and even up to the Newcastle game, especially that video afterwards. But then everyone got injured again. I can imagine how draining it is trying to scrape results with only half your squad available. I don’t think Ange will last much longer at Tottenham and that would be a worry for me. I’m sure we have a good succession plan though as nothing lasts forever, hopefully we win today and he feels a release

Thomas Frank

Sadly, we've rarely been able to field out best team since.coming to the Premier League. The last couple of years have been particularly bad for injuries and this must really frustrate and irritate Thomas. He regularly has to cobble together matchday squads playing B teamers and players out of position for months on end instead.of adding the layers to our game he desires. Imagine if we could have a real square go at the Prem with our full squad available...

:imwith:
I imagine he gets as pissed off with the same stupid questions every week as i do with with the weekly fearmongering on here about players being sold when they having a good spell or TF looking to move on because he looks a bit jaded in a press conference.

Thomas Frank

Starting to feel that to keep Frank for much longer there really need to be a substantial rethink/rework/upgrade (depending on what an analysis suggest is most proper) of the injury prevention (and possibly handling) in the club, whether that be modifying training practices or implementing new reconstitution guidelines or overhauling the sport physio department ... No idea what's going wrong (and not qualified to make even an uneducated guess) but comparing to how injuries seem to effect other clubs compared to us, something is not up to it, and I'm doubtful that it all can be down to us being more willing (or having to for financial reasons) to go for more fragile players for cheaper (... if that had been the case I'd have presumed that one such as Damsgaard would've been more susceptible)

Thomas Frank

If anything I think he's more likely to leave end of next season.

We've just brought in a new batch of young talent which TF will want to explore, injuries permitting. On top of that, by autumn of 2026, Ben will presumably either left or retired. Ethan may well have decided he's going to make way for the new generation. I'd love CN to stay but he too may be thinking about a new challenge. Plus we'll know what to expect from Rico by then.

So the combination of new players plus another chapter closer to the end of our 'Championship squad', or more precisely the elders of that squad, would seem a more fitting time in my opinion.

With due respect. I sincerely hope your wrong.

Give that man and his family, a couple of weeks away in the sunshine. He needs to relax and recharge his batteries, and hopefullly will come back completely refreshed to take us up the ladder. Unlike some managers, he puts his heart and soul into every day (& I guess night also) for the success of BFC. Take my advice Thomas, take a break, you absolutely deserve it. :hat:

Thomas Frank

While I believe/fear that Frank is here on borrowed time, and that we're probably in our last full season with him, I'm more inclined to believe that the changing of the guard being because a bigger club manages to put enough on the table (both monetary and in terms of project)

Yep. It must be very boring having to do these press conferences every day and being asked the same thing every day.

Thomas Frank

Thomas is very proud of what his players did today (and so are we) in achieving what he wanted them to do, and putting in a strong performance throughout the whole game which, typically, is pretty unusual when playing against some of the best teams in the country.

I’m sure all of us will hope that today’s result will, for him, go some way to get back to normality after what has been a pretty busy and difficult schedule over the last month.

Ditto, looking around the league no one else worries me except for Spurs.

Maybe and I’d certainly have no issue with your approach, but I’d also argue injuries are part of the deal in a very fast paced/intense premier league. I’d argue it’s simply that we don’t have a deep enough squad, for very understandable financial reasons.

It’s not going to happen mid season!!

The reverse fixtures could see a reversal of our home and away successes. Arsenal, City and Liverpool at home takes some believing. The fixture list this season had been any but helpful and has much to do with our struggles away from home.

Next International Break? I’m sure we could cope for 7-10 days. We’ve plenty of coaches, there must be a dozen of them on the pitch in the pre-game warmup.

A salute to his bravery yesterday in choosing 3 strikers from the start, rather than leave 1 on the bench for later. They all scored!

7-10 days isn’t a couple of weeks! He generally disappears for part of the international breaks and I’d imagine he would do so again, but not for a couple of weeks!!

The defeat today was not down TF. That team should have beaten Plymouth.

However, for City, let's play to our strength and that is a 433. It's becoming so predictable against Arsenal, City and Liverpool we always play a 352. Let have our best players on the pitch and at the moment that is a 443.

Surprise me TF on Tuesday.

If we play 443, then it will be a surprise!

We have a couple of proverbial "free hits" ahead this week against a recovering City and a wobbling Liverpool. Maybe time for Thomas to launch our league campaign into the stratosphere and go for 6 points? We'll need our front three on the pitch though to pin them back!! COYBs.

Absolutely agree. Hoping for them to push hard for a few 'bonus points'

Masterclass from Thomas last night, absolutely spot on selection and tactics.

Happy to be corrected, but was this the first time we've gone 2 CBs against one of the genuine "big boys"? Clearly it worked yesterday and will be interesting to see if it will be a general shift in approach or simply that Thomas felt it was the best set up for this one. Guess we'll find out on Saturday!

Think we only had two CBs against Arsenal. We're struggling for fit CBs at the moment!

It was a very compact 442 Vs Arsenal, yes, and we were punished for not been pragmatic and kicking it out when needed, as we tried too much to get out of the back with short passes/dribbles.
Still a low block, attrition setup, and as you said, mostly due to lack of CBs with experience (VdB was just back for that game I think after a short injury)
Yesterday was much more balanced, much better mixture of playing or clearing it when needed

Thomas Frank

I wonder if many of our supporters realise just how much we owe to this man. What he has achieved is nothing short of miraculous, and has done so in a way that sets him apart from many of his peers. A thoroughly decent often humble man.
Whatever needs to be done to keep him at our club for as long as possible should be done. We can also do our bit by showing our appreciation and not moaning when he gets things wrong or bloody whinging over losing cup games. We won't have him for ever unfortunately!

Thomas Frank

Not much new in that except he did say that if you aren’t a regular starter for 2-3 seasons then it’s time to move on
Seen that recently and likely with Roeslev
