"Everyone is running our club dow"! If you read my post correctly it quite clear that I was not running the club down. What I was pointing out was that Josh Dasilva may be a good player, and I think he will do well for us, but in my opinion if he was never a serious contender for Arsenal First Team this season. If that had been the case then he is considered to be a Premier League Top Six player, and if that had been the case there would have been many clubs in front of us in the queue for him. You will never find a post where I have run down the club.

Who said he was a top 6 player ?
I have only seen people saying that Arsenal wanted him to stay.

There is Arsene Wengers view on Josh D and TadBs view on him

Think I know which one I will pay more heed to.....

Thomas Frank

Frankly, I was astonished that TF was not replaced after last Saturday's shambles but clearly MB has more faith than I. Therefore I shall have a very positive attitude about the Bolton game (thank all the gods that they are probably worse than us), and we will hammer them. This will prove to be TF's Alex Ferguson moment, when he was a whisker away from getting the heave-ho, but managed to turn it around in the nick of time, and went on to win the Premiership!!

Nurse! I need my medicine......

Neither seem to be much different.
Everyone is just being over-sensitive as usual.
TadB was just saying he wasn't likely to be a "Champions League regular" overnight (ie top player for them) as they wouldn't be getting rid of those players to us for nothing.
Surely none of you can disagree with that. It doesn't make him bad or the comment wrong.
I'm sure Wenger would have agreed with that whilst thinking he was a decent prospect who might get a bit of first team game time in the future.........but they have plenty of them (and he named about five in the same breath as Da Silva including two who already had game time but you'd barely have heard of still).

Fair dos, maybe you didn’t intend it like that. You said he’d never have signed for ‘little old Brentord’ if he was Champions League standard. But no one had said he was Champions League standard (Arsenal aren’t in it for one, but also people were just commenting that he would have had first team chances) so it read as someone trying to rail against a straw man as cover for denigrating the club, which there has been a lot of recently. I was just pointing out that there are still many reasons why a young player might choose Brentford over other interested clubs, some of which may be more storied or monied than we are.

Agreed. I would never boo him or the players mid-match. I will be trying to encourage the team on Sat as that's the most likely way we're going to get a positive result.

Thomas Frank

I like Thomas I really do, think he's a good man. But watching his pre Bolton interview talking about the areas they have focused on etc I can see how the players may just find it all a bit intense and confusing.

I really hope for his sake we win Saturday and turn our form around over Xmas as I want him and us to succeed.

....the last four posts are very reminiscent of the current goings on within brexit and the tory party....buying time in an attempt to change outcomes.....all very loyal and admirable..but the question is....are TM and TF the new Thelma and Louise....will they go over the cliff edge together....and will they take the UK and BFC with them?

Thomas Frank

I enjoyed watching his interview. Thought he handled all the questions well and doesn't seem fazed by any of their questions especially about Henrik and Josh C. interesting when you get his take on for example Henrik's dip in performance and the reason behind Josh not picked. Not everything is what it seems ?

I afraid that I do not accept your mealy mouthed words. I well know the reasons why a young player may well choose Brentford, but I clearly stated that IMO Josh Dasilva was not Arsenal standard, whether you seek to confuse the issue by splitting hairs over Champion League or not. Rest assured if he was at Arsenal standard he would not have signed for Brentford, but taken a much higher salary elsewhere than we could pay. "People were saying", was exactly my point - What People? Fake news mate, and if you believe that then you will believe anything. For the record I do not pull the Club down, and I think Josh Dasilva could become a good player here.

Nah, not having that. Sadly I don't think he'll succeed but I can't help but like the bloke and hope he does.

Not blind loyalty though and if we do lose Saturday he's got to go.

There is nothing for you to 'accept': no apology was offered, 'mealy mouthed' or otherwise. I stand by the original post.

I’m sorry but I didn’t enjoy it !
Whilst it was interesting to get his take on Dalsgaard & Clarke the rest of the interview was like Groundhog Day. Talking about fine margins & working on defensive shape in small sided games is fine .Improving things by communicating with your players in such a way as to motivate them to win games is another.
Oh and as for the guy asking about Danes eating rice pudding on the 24th,who cares ?
You are right , he doesn’t seem fazed by any of the questions he was asked but maybe that’s more a reflection of the questions. I would like to know how he is dealing with an alarming decline in form and confidence and why last Saturday at Hull his team capitulated (again) failing to have a shot on target in the second half?
Lose on Saturday at GP to a team with 1 win in the last 18 and maybe they will be asked pre Bristol City .....if he’s still around ?

Thomas Frank

I just can't see MB firing Thomas even If we lose on Saturday.

Perhaps If the rot continues well into January, who knows? I get the impression MB is a very loyal person.

...tongue planted firmly in cheek mate....i too wish the man no ill....nor TM for that matter....but of the two....i'd guess TF at least still has destiny in his own hands.

I fear the issue maupay had with Dean is also that of Thomas and the players they don't know how to follow his instructions. It could be not being able to convey in footballer parlance. My uni maths teacher was the same.

Hopefully that is where King Kev comes in

Thomas is our manager. Matthew our owner. I accept his decisions and I will support his decisions..support these guys..they deserve it!

Thomas Frank

Flying back on Xmas day, hope no disruption and he makes it back in time for boxing day match and it's not Kevin's 1st match in charge!

Thomas Frank

Not taking any stock on the Frank interview. It's all talk
It's on the pitch Saturday that counts and hopefully the team can do is proud.
Walk the walk, less of taking the talk.

Then why waste your time posting a load of cr.p. If you are going to but in, and post read the post first. Perhaps where the difficulty is.

There is no difficulty at this end. I was attempting to give you the benefit of the doubt that the tone and implication of your post was not what you intended, but if it wasn't then the fault lies with you. I see no point in continuing the dispute though so I'll wish you a Merry Christmas.

Smith never said anything of note in his press conferences, it's not what they're about. Talk as much as you like without revealing anything of any use. At least Frank gives us injury updates. You're never going to get the answers you're after from one of these and no-one's likely to ask the questions you want either.

MB stood by our last chief coach when we couldn't buy a point at the beginning of a season.

True but the performances were still very good.

Since Sheff Utd at home the performances have deteriorated along with the results. Tomorrow is a big one for Thomas. Another loss will really build pressure and I think a lot of fans will be lost, who in fairness have been very patient with Thomas all things considered.

Thomas Frank

The sensible thing would be, to get rid before the transfer window opens. But as a lot of fans think and quite rightly MB does not rush into things .

Ultimately it all depends on whether you (they) think he's going to come good in the end.

If you don't then the sooner you act the better.
If you do think there's a good enough chance then it's better to give him more time.

There's also the factor of needing a replacement.......so even if they're veering towards getting rid of him, he might well get extra time to prove he actually is the right man, simply because they haven't yet found and lined up a suitable replacement.

Whether it's sensible or not depends on how many points we can get in the next few weeks. If we get 1-2 points and drop into the relegation zone, then it may be speculated that we waited too long. If we change now and results continue to be negative, the instability of repeatedly changing manager may be then seen as a disruptive influence.

I'm not against giving him a couple more weeks, but if nothing has improved by the beginning of January I think that highlights that a change does need to be made. If somehow results/performances can improve before then (and the only thing I can think of that may suddenly change that is KO'C's involvement) then it may highlight that it may be worth sticking with a bit longer to assess. Maybe MB's trying to give him every chance to succeed, but that can't last forever as much as you initially thought and wanted it to work.

Not a lot of point in listening then ,

He will make the right decision and I expect it won't be to take any hurried or drastic decision that makes things worse.

The transfer window is an irrelevance - the club wouldn't bring in a manager to give him a budget to go out and recruit in the window or an instruction to go and trim the squad either. Those decisions are taken elsewhere and with more planning rather than being what we have a Head Coach for. If they think he needs to go, he'll go when they think it is time. That could be tomorrow evening or on Feb 1 or any other date.

Thomas Frank

I don't think a win tomorrow v Bolton will change the mind of those screaming for his head.

Thomas Frank

Maybe not but it would make us all feel a hell of a lot better though.

Yep, there has to come a time when you just can't allow the losses to keep piling up without doing something. Two losses up to the 27th would have to be the end of TF I think. Hope it doesn't happen though.

Sorry to say but he is being held in his position because of Stats, if it was purely results driven he would have gone.
The players have checked out, regardless of the result Sat, i would like to see him gone.

Can't see the stats are keeping him in a job, they look terrible. MB and DOFs have made a decision to stick by him and that's their prerogative I guess.

Let's just get behind the boys tomorrow and hope for a turnaround in our fortunes.

Thomas Frank

Anything less than 6 points from the next 4 games then I think he is a goner early in Jan.

Don't think so. Smith kept his job last year because it was very clear we were unlucky and playing well. No one can say that now. He's being given the opportunity to put it right but that one last forever.

That's rubbish. The stats are crap. He's being given the chance to put things right. It won't last forever though.

Looks like Sheff Wed are not worried about going into xmas without a manager.
