Thomas Frank

He may have been part of the set-up for a while but lots to prove as The Gaffer.

This run started 5 games he was appointed head coach

Thomas Frank

Needs to get a leader and organiser in the midfield. At the moment we are all over the shop.

Need to get a couple of assistants in to help him, pronto! To be fair the rot had started to show itself under DS, pretty much the second half of Ipswich onwards to be precise.

Thomas Frank

I actually feel sorry for the man, these players have really let him, themselves and us down.

Thomas Frank

So why appoint an assistant who was the main coaching member of staff under Dean?

Why did we appoint Phil Holder, Andy Scott or Mark Warburton - clearly doesn't work. BFC never learn.

Just why hasn't Frank proven his Gaffer-ness in his first 2 games as head coach. Clueless. Frank out

May as well just appoint Cliff Crown manager next time then.

It might not be a managerial issue anyway let’s be honest. Thomas Frank may be the next Guardiola. I’m just saying if whatever it is wasn’t working before (as you suggested too) why keep the same set up?

What he needs is a group of players to turn up and show us all how good they are. The last few weeks have been embarrassing.

Thomas Frank

Don't forget he has been a major part of the set up for 2 years, don't expect massive change all of a sudden.

Thomas Frank

As others have said, being disgracefully let down by the players, several of them particularly so.

How the hell is cliff crown used as a comparison for anything ?

It's not a managerial issue as we don't have a manager.
Frank is head coach. You questioned and eluded that it is his fault we havnt won in 7 games and keep letting in pathetic goals, and now say Frank may not be the issue ? You also question the in house appointment.

My point is Frank can't be judged after 2 games as head coach when this run started before his appointment.
And that Holder, Scott and Warburton all came from support staff, were given the reigns and got us promoted.

May not need massive changes ?

Thats the worrying factor. There is no zip in our play. And from what i saw tonight there was a few arguing out there ad sulking about passes etc.

I didn’t say any of that.

Thomas Frank

You responded to my post against it, seemingly in agreement

I was saying if the set ups not working as it hasn’t been for 7 games then it seems pointless to use the same setup again with similar personnel. But maybe it goes further up the chain (doubt it though), that’s all I was saying in my second post.

I know it’s worked for the last 2 years but once players lose confidence in a system it’s nearly impossible to come back from. Even if it brought success (ish) in the past e.g. Mourinho at Chelsea.

Not sure where you got the ‘pathetic goals’ and blaming it all on Frank from, unless it was another poster you confused me with or you just made up I said it.

Fair enough.

But it's not the same set up as the head coach has left and taken some with him.
In house appointments has worked for us.

He needs his assistants in

you've got to feel for Frank a little. First half was bizarre. We looked v good on the ball but then let in 3 very poor goals. You can't legislate for your keeper picking up a back pass. WTF?? Then, how often do teams score from those opportunities? But also, look at the bench tonight, we were down to the bare bones. SO unlucky that Jeanvier was injured when Mepham suspended. Then add to that Maceachran having slept in the hospital last few nights meaning we had to play Nico, Watkins and Sawyers being so off form, Marcondes and Forss injured and Henry and DaSilva still on their way to fitness. Judge not really at it and Macleod flattering to deceive most of the time. Moses still feeling his way back and Dalsgaard taking the opportunity as captain to have one of his stinkers. Almost a perfect storm. The fact that we very nearly got something out of it shows that we have ability and the 'heart' that everyone seems to think we're lacking. Meps back on Sat will make a BIG difference. JM back too and bring in Benhrama and things will look a lot better. Henry and DaSilva both looked V good for B team tonight and Marcondes back in training so we have back up on the way..

Thomas Frank

This was worrying today.
It was visible after the first goal.

As others have said, being disgracefully let down by the players, several of them particularly so.

The question is why ?
Why are the same players that looked like they could gain automatic promotion now this poor?
Or are they? Is it a combination of bad luck, crap refs and a woefully out of form keeper?
Add to that Smith leaving was bound to upset the team.

That makes for positive reading.

I don't think Frank is to blame for our current slump.... Just after the Wigan home game, we were sitting comfortably in second place and several bookies had us at 7/2 favourites to win the division. Then Ipswich happened and bar the Leeds performance and half an hour at the Emirates, it's not been quite the same since.
Hopefully, this is the tail end of one of the Dean Smith 'runs' and we'll start to kick on again soon.

Thomas Frank

For the last fifty odd minutes we played as well as we ever have done in my opinion. Clearly hasn't lost the team. Seems like Dan might be an exception, since his gathering the back pass. Decision time.

Well summed up. I just hope we are in or close to a top 6 place come January ??

I think the main thing at the moment is Thomas needs some help, defensive minded coach, did not see him talking to Friis last night or Saturday. I would also lock the team in room and say to them sort yourselves out

By luck we are still only 6 points off the Play Offs it’s achievable

Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank clearly did a good job at half time. The players came out for the second half more focused and livelier. Apart from a few defensive issues, the way we played second half would have us back on top in most games.

Thomas Frank

We need a leader on the pitch to focus concentration. We gift goals to the other teams and make it easy. Alex Neil said post match that PNE played effective football rather than attractive football. I wonder who he had in mind! We were good enough to score three times but not savvy enough to concede less.

I wonder if some of the team have their minds elsewhere thinking of a big pay day come January as the next cab on the rank. Equally, Dan Bentley thinking maybe his career has peaked and the big move won't happen. Too right in his present form.

Thomas Frank

No doubt thomas is good coach come across as very cool and calm and after saturday he said it was a lovely day.So wondered if he may be a bit soft on players and not ruthless enough to be the main man and the bloke to kick the players asses when needed like dean smith would do.

What any coach says in public is no indication of what they're like behind closed doors.

He is a fantastic tactician and great number 2,but not a motivator or man manager

Let's wait until he's got his full coaching team assembled around him. Hopefully his assistants will have skills and characteristics which compliment Thomas. I'm not sure the stick approach is well received these days by modern footballers anyway. A calmer more measured approach is no bad thing in my opinion.

Too right, first DS and now TF, they now need to start playing and performing as we know they can, like the start of the season.

What is this based on? Don't forget most of our bad run has come under Smith's management, and we had a very similar run at the beginning of last season. You are seriously overinterpreting based on two results which were the consequence of many factors, most of which were beyond Frank's control.

Thomas Frank

He is a fantastic tactician and great number 2,but not a motivator or man manager

Based on what? Have you worked with him? Know someone that has? He's worked a lot as a youth coach where man management is pretty important so I'd suggest he is probably more skilled there than you think. Unless, again, you have firs or even 2nd hand knowledge and experience of his style?

Thomas Frank

Your experience of him is...? Have you been behind closed doors in the dressing room to see how he works? No, thought not. Another mister know-it-all!

IMO he's earned the right to the rest of this season before we decide on his effectiveness or otherwise.
