Probably helped by us having nothing to lose so could go for it full throttle. But still,

Bizarrely their 2nd goal just before the break turned out to be a blessing. It persuaded the inept Fat Frank to give a park the bus half time team talk which lubed them up for a tactical wiping of the floor by TF.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. It’s Nat a given playing against 10 men but they sat back and allowed us an unbelievable amount of possession

I’m gonna give TF top marks today for taking MBS off at ht as we would have lost that game today if he’d stayed on for a minute longer….we’ll done TF ???

He , MB and our director of football are our dream team. We are so so very lucky.

Up the Bees' off-field team?

Yes!!!
He made some brilliant calls today. They were bold, innovative and intelligent. Much like our club. I'm assuming Brian had an input today together with the backroom analysts who will have helped devise our vs 10 men game plan. Well done to Thomas and the team.

Thomas deserves all the praise for changing it at half time but Sorenson doesn't have the pace or experience to be part of a back 3, Janelt should have started.
In a back three? Really?

Brian Riemer probably deserves more recognition than he's getting, there's no doubt he's highly trusted and appreciated by TF. I actually respect a manager who's comfortable in discussing throughout the game with the assistant coach. Many managers might want to give the impression that "this is all me, I'm the captain of the ship" so they don't go for that active discussion. TF couldn't care less, he just wants to win! Great to see, I find it much more appealing than a stone faced coach standing by himself not seeking advice from others

Heard a few times how impressed Ajer is with Riemer, the huy lives and breathes football

Yes, he is far more mobile than Bechs & has more awareness of what's happening around him, he also has the benefit of Rico out wide or offering cover, Wouldn't be my 1st choice position to play him but the guy can do a job wherever needed.

I think we’ve played all season with the mentality of having nothing to lose and everything to gain. How many games have we tried to sit on a lead? How many games have we treated as expecting defeat? Even the games we’ve been very defensive in like against City we’ve had the mindset of making the opponent work for it, not caving in and still having intent going forward when possible.

Due largely to Raya's absence and associated lack of confidence with whichever of his replacements was between the sticks we were very cautious during the winter bad patch when some of our games were utter guff (Citeh being one exception). But the shackles now are well and truly off.

It was boys against men. Fat Frank caught in the headlights with nowhere to run. Our Thomas showing him how its done, fat Frank would do well to take note, both both you and I know he won't, bloated by everything that is bad about the game.

If he doesn't win manager of the season, it would be an outright travesty.
He really deserves to win manager of the season but suspect it will be Pep or Jurgen if he wins the champions league. What Thomas has done is remarkable and I suspect it won't be long before he becomes Denmark manager ?

Agree re Thomas making a good call. MBS has put in some very good performances over the season so don't agree that Janelt "should have started". However, MBS can be inconsistent. I'm sure the coaching staff and TF will help him learn from it. Also, Janelt made a couple of loose passes out from the back that then put us in trouble.
A big call to be made for next week though.... but in Thomas we trust, because he has earned it.

When it starts to unravel Lampard starts to wear the look of a man who has just thought a fart was safe, but has actually lead to follow through.

I mean, it’s not just clever subs.

You can tell how extremely well coached that team is when you have them playing in different formations throughout the game (and dynamically depending on whether we had the ball) and when you have players playing in multiple different positions and it all just “works”. A lot of teams and players even at this level would struggle to adapt tactically to all of that.

Also says something about how he motivates the squad when you see the determination to win that game despite being safe.

Absolutely love TFs post match interview from yesterday. Unbelievable unrelenting pressure on this man for two years. TF can just relax and enjoy what he's achieved for a couple of games and get on with plotting a victory against Leeds. While it's as far away from being on the beach as it's possible to be we can all chase the highs without any prospect of the lows.

I don't think Janelt is any more mobile – he nearly got caught out a few times (once bailed out by Jensen coming back). The big difference was that he was much better at playing the left-side holding midfield/wing back, allowing Henry free rein to get forward.

Spot on, I think Bryan and Nørgaard must've played about 7 positions between them yesterday. It's also really interesting how some of the squad run over to TF/BR when there's a sub that's obviously going to changes things a bit so they know "move to right back? OK how much should I push forward? Move the ball quick or run at them? Early crosses?" etc. So much more than someone running on with a note. It really highlights a fantastic attitude from the players, the trust they have in the management team and also, as you said, how well coached they are in a variety of situations.

Contrast that to Lampard who spent a long part of the game trying to work out how to react; the first red card was a good example of this, him and the assistant trying to figure out what they do next.

Yep, as does fifteen points from losing positions this season - highest in the prem!

Man of the match?

Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but from the 59th minute (2-1 down) until we scored our third goal to go 3-2 up (64 mins) Everton did not make a single pass apart from kick off, they touched the ball 4 other times in that period - all blocks or clearances. In that same 5 minute period we had nearly 100 touches of the ball, made 40 passes, and scored 2 goals.

To add to the beauty of it, Everton’s last successful pass leading up to that 5 minute spell was Richarlison show boating and bringing the ball down on the back of his shoulder! ?

Credit where credit is due is getting pretty much everything right at the moment, long may it continue.

I'd say on balance he's got most things right over his time as Head Coach in the longer term as one promotion and a mid table finish in the Premier League testify.

As much as last week was a tactical masterclass. What the f*** were those substitutions about today??!!
Jensen was my MoM at the time, and Rico was doing OK too.....
All very odd.
If I didn't know better, I'd say it was a conspiracy.....

Or he gambled twice and was successful once

Well the 9 players...
The pass out
The sending off

You wouldn't be happy if you supported Burnley.

He was going 3 at the back because they could well sit back
