It's all to do with the maintenance cost on MB's fleet of planes and fancy cars.At the risk of getting called out again by Silly Hat for spending other peoples money, why cant we pay him a bit more?
Surely the real point(s) is(are):At the risk of getting called out again by Silly Hat for spending other peoples money, why cant we pay him a bit more?
When you are receiving >£130m a year in revenue, and if you believe TF is a key component to keeping that revenue (by staying up), surely it is worth £3m to close the gap on the Moyes/Gerrards/Lassos of the is world?
The harmony and happiness of the players on the pitch and our sharp upward trajectory in performance with nobody core to the team agitating loudly to leave against the club’s wishes suggest he’s a great guy in his job and with his colleagues. Whether we’d personally enjoy ten minutes chatting privately is fairly irrelevant but there are plenty who’d come across nicely doing that who are still not great guys or good at their jobs in public perception.Anyone ever spoken to Thomas personally for more than 10 minutes???
seems we all assume he is a great guy but how the hell can we know without speaking with him
We do things our way, remuneration for players coaches etc has all got to be balanced, yes we do receive the money from the Premier League but this is only our second year and I have no doubt the club costs on wages infrastructure transfers etc makes a bloody big hole in those funds. At the risk of getting called out again by Silly Hat for spending other peoples money, why cant we pay him a bit more?

Boredom? ?Where's all this speculation even come from![]()
Because most longstanding Bees fans are always secretly worried that things are about to go tits upWhere's all this speculation even come from![]()
I considered this highly likely and in all honestly only posted because a follower count of >350k slightly elevates it above the usual Twitter b***ocks. That guy is a long time bullshitter
99% of us immediately roll our eyes and ignore indykaila, it's not a source worth worrying about. He's a wind up merchant.
Whilst I think the print media are tripping over themselves to over-exaggerate the woes of Leicester to sell a story, we almost certainly can't afford to buy Rodgers out of his contract AND then poach another Premier League club's manager.
I also don't see why the names the press are likely to throw up (Frank, Potter, Cooper, etc) would jump ship so early in to the season.
Our next manager will be currently out of work. You'll be fine.
Agree with this. Also, you only have to look at Potter at Brighton to see how hard it is for good managers at less "prestigious" clubs to get opportunities at big 6, so unless they change their policy (who was the last "big" club manager appointed on a long term basis from a lesser side?) I can't see him moving elsewhere in the premI feel if TF was offered the job as the Danish Manager he’d grab it, and who could blame him. I’m sure it will happen eventually.
Not sure if I'm right, you'd know more than me but I think the payoff talks might be true. Rodgers won't walk out of his contract but an ageing squad clearly required investment. If Rodgers got a good deal he might be tempted to accept it and move on with his reputation still intact, the Leicester job profile he accepted has clearly changed over the past 18 months, it's become a tough job with expectations still high.
Any new manager won't get the same contract Rodgers got and I'd agree it'll be a manager currently out of work, nobody would leave a safe job to take the current Leicester job profile on, from the outside it's going to be a tough few seasons for you's.
we really don't love Maddison - hyper-talented player and all that, but he really is a dick
Oh we're almost certainly going to sack him and have to pay him off, it will happen, he's quite clearly not going to resign and forfeit millions - in fairness, who would?
Honestly though, the job hasn't gotten any harder it's just that his failings have caught up with him. The man just can't manage people - when you lose what does Frank do? Come out to the media and deflect, right? I've seen him wind up Leicester fans a few times with his interviews after we've played you but really they're just smart, he doesn't want to throw his players under the bus, he wants to keep up morale. Rodgers routinely does the opposite. He's been undermining the squad's confidence for about two years solidly now. You just can't do that and expect to keep working with them forever.
The "difficulties" at Leicester are largely over exaggerated. The squad is still 90% the team that finished 5th twice and won the FA Cup, a lot of our dead wood is out of contract next year so the wage bill will be back under control, we'll have a significant net gain this year in FFP terms to compensate for last summer's spend. I'm not particularly worried to be honest. A new manager will come in, steady the ship, we'll probably finish around 9th/10th again and go back to building from there.
Unless we sh*t the bed and hire Dyche, Benitez or the like I have no major anxiety about the future.
I think from the outside it is Rodgers. Even in defeat you can see you’ve got some really good players but that he’s run out of ideas about who to play and how to play them. He should really have gone last season or in the summer after seeing the way he dithered and swapped between 3 and 2 CBs, zonal and man marking seemingly without any particular plan or confidence in one being a solution for a specific opponent or more generally. Up front I like Iheanacho and Daka but he doesn’t really seem to trust either with a consistent run and Vardy is past banging them in reliably as a starter every week but a great option to have on the bench. He also doesn’t seem to have much idea about subs. Pretty much any fresh and keen up and coming manager could get a tune out of that squad and possibly make the club feel like they were worth backing with signings.Oh we're almost certainly going to sack him and have to pay him off, it will happen, he's quite clearly not going to resign and forfeit millions - in fairness, who would?

....his narcissistic attention seeking mind perhaps....like most wannabes. He's one of those people that deletes predictions that were wrong so people don't pull him up on it. 'Brentford would prefer not to change Manager until next summer' - Where on Earth is he getting that from!
Hahaha, you love to hate him. Every club needs it's pantomime villains doesn't it? Just surprised it isn't Vards for once! I've just been reading your James Maddison thread it's given me a smile. I think the perception of him as a bit of ratty, nasty chav is kinda funny - you should listen to a few interviews with him. He's a really polite, well spoken kid.
All good banter though isn't it?
Got to say, I admire your confidence about finishing in the top half given your current situation! I do think you'll stay up, but I can't see it being comfortable for you - the league looks stronger this season and no early signs that anyone will fare as bad as Norwich.Oh we're almost certainly going to sack him and have to pay him off, it will happen, he's quite clearly not going to resign and forfeit millions - in fairness, who would?

We couldn’t pay him enough to dissuade him from moving if he wanted so if money isn’t what’s keeping him here now the thing to do is to stop him having any interest in leaving the project. At the risk of getting called out again by Silly Hat for spending other peoples money, why cant we pay him a bit more?

He's already won promotion what more does he wantI think he’ll want to win something in club football before semi-retiring to manage Denmark. Also he strikes me as someone who thrives on the day-to-day interaction with the squad. There was a comment the other day about TF ‘being Thomas’ and going over to chat to the trialists

You were doing so well. It's not just us having a somewhat underwhelming start - all of the clubs we usually expect to compete with, Wolves, Palace, Villa, Southampton, West Ham, all doing pretty honking at the moment where as (and I'm going to take some pelters for this so I'm sorry in advance) the jury is obviously still going to be out on whether or not Brentford, Leeds, Fulham and especially Brighton can keep up their current pace.
Spot on with part of that. I think Wolves have looked terrible and Villa & West Ham too. Palace will linger around lower mid-table again probably, and Southampton will be back in a bun fight after this weekend.
A top-six finish. A reasonable ambition, wouldn't you say? He's already won promotion what more does he want?
I think it's the shushing celebration that does it, and he has a habit of scoring worldies against usHahaha, you love to hate him. Every club needs it's pantomime villains doesn't it? We're so used to being underestimated and written off, it's just water off a ducks back. We'll continue to surprise and progress. Other fans will continue to moan....."how the feck have we been beaten by tinpot Brentford"! It's just the way it is.
In fairness he questioned whether we can keep up the pace ..currently we are in contention for a place in Europe...I too question wether we can keep this up.You were doing so well.
Brighton are a good side and they'll have another good year. Fulham look good (unfortunately) but will suffer if Mitro looses form / gets injured. Leeds I think are fragile. No we're not Man City and I'm not an arrogant fan who thinks we are. Nor do I think we capitulated last season. We were affected by injuries to key players but at no stage did we capitulate!!In fairness he questioned whether we can keep up the pace ..currently we are in contention for a place in Europe...I too question wether we can keep this up.
Given also how midway through last season we capitulated I think it be a bit foolish to not have doubts (and all it took was a couple of injuries)..we aren't man city...
I think Leicester winning the title by clever recruitment and management gives us huge hope for the future even if not for a PL win. Getting into the top 6 is for a club of our stature all about consistency as that’s the big test of overall quality and depth. It is encouraging that with 3 first choice starters out we’re holding our own better than our start to last season with a full squad. No we're not Man City and I'm not an arrogant fan who thinks we are. Nor do I think we capitulated last season. We were affected by injuries to key players but at no stage did we capitulate!!
We are extremely well run and well managed. Of course there are dangers in this league. It is unbelievably tough. But, it is clear to see the direction we' re heading in. I suppose you can't really blame opposition fans for not getting it when neither do a number of our own.
Agree that the Leicester poster comes across well.
What we found at Celtic was he was very good at managing and improving players when he came in. The players he bought were generally terrible so we seemed to get weaker every transfer window. He also had limited ways of playing so once teams found us out, we couldn’t change. Very different from ThomasOh we're almost certainly going to sack him and have to pay him off, it will happen, he's quite clearly not going to resign and forfeit millions - in fairness, who would?

Good post?Having a fully fit David Raya all season long should help mitigate the poor form from last season. Even if something does happen again we have Strakosha so will be miles better placed than last season when we struggled without David.
I don't think many are expecting us to keep up 8th, but 13th or above would still be a good season and I think we're well placed to get that. There are several teams who look worse than us, who are now 5 points or so behind us as well. Villa, Leicester, Everton, Bournemouth, Forest, Southampton and Wolves all look worse for varying reasons, while there are several teams who we could finish above or below (Fulham, Palace, Leeds and Newcastle).
Frank is important to that to keep this on topic, but under his team there isn't much evidence to suggest that we'll finish in the bottom 5 clubs. In fact we'd probably have had a fairly poor season if we do finish 16th. We have a stability and consistency under Frank and have only added to our team from last year minus Eriksen. We're much more able to ride out injuries this time around while everyone knows their roles extremely well.
Ask Sir Alex FergusonNot unusual in any line of work. What can you improve after 7 years?
Ask Sir Alex Ferguson
When he arrived in the country he rented a VW Golf for about 4 weeks .. he then got a lease deal with Kia I believe .. I think (not 100% sure) he still drives a KiaJust saw a video of thomas tuchel driving a smart car which was refreshing even though it looked rubbish. Got me wondering what our own thomas drives, anyone know?
I imagine something equally modest but can imagine him in a mustang
Not as low as becoming the next manager of Leicester or Brighton I wouldn't have thought.Odds on becoming next manager at Chelsea......??......
