We like to laugh at Spurs but: they have a huge stadium, some talented young players, and are financially secure. Their director of football seems competent and knows TF well (if I remember correctly he gave him his first job in football). On top of that they could be coming off one of their most disappointing seasons in recent memory, meaning in all probability the only way is up. If they offer him that he's gone, I think.

For spurs the whole question probably boils down to ... how willing would Frank be to work with an incompetent chairman (Levy) with vastly outsized ideas of his footballing prowess

Also ... you're thinking of their Technical director, Johan Lange ... who was in FCK for the whole time Frank was active in Brøndby (contestant for the biggest/dirtiest/most hate-infested rivalry in non-balkan Europe)

Thomas Frank

Do you believe it could make any sense to leave a safe job for one that is not Liverpool Arsenal or City and take even a slight risk to be discarded like an old beer can?
Money is not everything
In a few weeks Spurs might be 17th and without europe lol

Lange and TF go back further than that. They shared an office at Lyngby.

He’d get offered double, perhaps triple the wage whilst not even having to move house. Spurs are a shambles but he’d get a decent amount of money to improve the squad. If he got the offer I’d be very surprised if he said no unfortunately.

Thomas Frank

I guess all of you know the bizarre reason Thomas left his previous job
After this probably he will be more careful with his choices
He said several times that grass is not greener in the other side,it wont make my life better etc
I dont think he said all these just to say them and because would be the obvious answers
He actually wants to stay
Hopefully this wont age like milk

He has also never ruled out a move. Thomas is a sensible guy. He'll do what's right for him and he knows the risks and benefits of a move.

But we have to be realistic. 7 years as our manager now. That's almost unheard of these days. If the Spurs job was offered, the only way is up there. He would take it, imo.

Thomas Frank

It’s all about timing, timing, timing.
TF has his structure, his routine, his say, his mentor all on tap at the club.
He is a well known face in football.

Frank has to nothing seek and strive for urgently, it’s all about the timing of opportunity.

If Tottenham come calling whether first choice or third, he wouldn’t not want to chat, who wouldn’t want to see the terms and conditions.

TF in his honest moments knows the life of a PL head coach is well rewarded, he is VERY happy at Brentford but opportunity will knock only a few times for Thomas in this field. Thomas will get the call if not in the Summer from someone then in a few months time.

Stick or twist, his decision, Stick and aim for silverware, European football and a statue at his footballing home here to be his holy grail or twist and jump Into the frying pan at a club with wealthier pockets but only ever 4 straight defeats from the sack..

Happiness outlasts ambition for many. Thomas will no doubt get a chance to test that theory shortly.

Nothing compared to Heidenheim's 17 years its nothing?
Being one of the very few in history of the Premier League to stay somewhere for 10+ seasons(and not for big club) could be a strong motivation
As long as Brentford stays in PL and as long as he wants to he could make history

Thomas Frank

Sure. But it'll also probably mean he'll never get a go in the champions league, which is surely a strong motivation too.

I don't see Spurs being attractive though. He'll know they're a basket case, and while I'm sure he'd be tempted by "maybe I'm the one who can turn it around", there'd surely be a strong worry of also, maybe not...

Thomas Frank

Also i am not sure Tottenham after so many years of failing to get something will go to an option like Thomas Frank
More likely to go again to a very big name like they did with Mourinho
(Not sure who could be)

The thing is, lots of these perceived big clubs appear to be basket cases; Spurs, Chelsea, Man U, Newcastle, etc. At some point, he'll take a risk and chance his arm. There's no point moving to a regular mid table club. I just don't see the likes of Arsenal, Man C or Liverpool going for a manager with no Euro experience. Maybe Villa if Emery got offered a massive job.

Frank on a European spot, friendships and injury updates
16:27

BBC Sport

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Brighton (kick-off 15:00 BST).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

Frank expects everyone who was available last week for the 1-1 draw against Arsenal to be available against Brighton.

Providing an update on Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago, who have not featured for the Bees this year, he says that both players are "getting closer" and that it "all looks good" to return soon.

On team morale: "They're in good spirits, I think some weeks are good in terms of training, other weeks are fantastic, and this week has been fantastic."

Brentford "need to win" if they want any chance of finishing in a European spot this term, according to Frank. He said further: "We have plenty to aim for still. The simple one to aim for is to just finish as high as possible, and everything is still there for us - a top-10 finish would be fantastic for the club." Frank explained: "Everyone is speaking about Europe and that's tough - if we want any ambition about that, we need to win on Saturday, against a team that also needs to win on Saturday!"

On the atmosphere in Brentford: "I'm a big believer that if there is a good atmosphere and relationship between the players, then they are more willing to go the extra mile for each other. It's very rare that every player is friends with each other, but there are people who are closer than others in the squad.

On Bryan Mbeumo and Yoanne Wissa - who have both hit 15 or more goals this season, Frank said: "I think that they will be friends always, even when they stop playing football. It's a privilege to coach them and see them everyday because they are so lively and always have big smiles coming in."

Frank also praised young defender Michael Kayode: " I think he was very good when he came on. He was energetic, constantly bombarding forward, going up and down. I thought he was strong defensively as well in his one-on-one duels.

On Brighton: "I think they have had a good season. I think [Fabian] Hurzeler has done a good job in his first year in the Premier League. Clearly he's a talented coach, who like all of us are learning on the way."

If he gets offered a basket case club (Man utd, Spurs, Chelsea etc) and it all went wrong I'm sure he'd get a decent job elsewhere...Potter was still able to get a prem job (albeit West Ham) on the basis of having a couple of reasonable seasons with Brighton and having two years out the game so I'm sure Frank would have no problem given his record with us.

I suspect his two years out is pretty much to do with getting paid up in full from Chelsea.

I would think all that reputation he built up at Brighton has now disappeared as in reality your only as good as you last job

Thomas Frank

I hope we get at least another full season from Thomas and be able to give the Prem a proper square go with a full and fit squad. Another season ruined injury with mid table anonymity might make him consider whether he can take us any further and whether he needs a new challenge.

Thomas Frank

As much as I’d love him to stay forever ?, I’m hoping he stays until the end of next season. A fitter, thereby stronger squad with a genuine chance of Europe hopefully (I’ve pretty much written off the chances this season).
Now, if he gets us into Europe next season maybe one more year…..??

It doesn’t work like this sadly. Every season we will be hit with injuries to some degree. It’s less about “can we go injury free” (even to a large extent rather than totally) and more about “can we have sufficient depth” (to go beyond midtable). Thats a gradual and expensive process.

Have reached the point where the sufficient depth is injured as well

Thomas Frank

When you are Brentford and not Liverpool its not simple at all to buy top level players and tell them in some games you may have to be benched
With years to come and with an even better name in the market will be easier

Thomas Frank

I’d say Thomas would loathe to leave Brentford without having achieved something. Be it European competition, a cup or winning the league, he’d want something that defined his career with us. He’s that sort of guy.

Brentford are currently 11th but are only five points off eighth spot, which could be a European spot come the end of the season.

Thomas Frank knows that Saturday's game against Brighton is a must-win though and believes a positive atmosphere at the club is behind their impressive season.

"We have plenty to aim for still. The simple one to aim for is to just finish as high as possible, and everything is still there for us - a top-10 finish would be fantastic for the club," said Frank.

Getting into Europe is the only one of those achievable, unless there is a sea change in mentality in competing for cups.

He's already achieved something. Getting us promoted to the Premier League, and keeping us there for 5 years, earning the club 500 Million pounds while doing so, is a fantastic achievement.

Agreed. This season has shown with a deeper squad that we are a solid mid table side capable of competing with any team in this league. Last season was more of a struggle.

We have to keep adding depth and quality to the squad but that costs serious money.

yes but we give players time to come through: several possibles like Konak, Yamou and no doubt others pushing their way through the system. not all big money.

Is there a chance Tottenham to sack a coach who brought a trophy after nearly 20 years?
Most probably they will make a statue if it happens

Thomas Frank

Last season yes: was a bit of a freak one. Less so this season.
We’ve played this season essentially with 4/11 missing, played 14 games with 5/11 missing and 11 games with 6/11 missing. We have been hit hard with injuries to our starting eleven this season, it really isn’t normal.

Henry, Hickey, Jensen, Thiago, Dasilva. Then add in the games where we’ve been without Pinnock, Flekken, Wissa and Norgaard on top of those injuries.

On top of that Ajer, our first choice cover at right back has also spent a large portion of the season injured.

Most teams have the same story to tell: I think it’s more “normal” than you think.

Thomas Frank

Whilst Spurs are a “bigger club” with an all singing and all dancing stadium, alongside (if someone can get them playing) top players, it’s a completely toxic club from the top down and I can personally see Frank waiting for another (better) opportunity, as I can’t see him being short of offers in time to come.

Thomas Frank

Frank had a very good day over Hurzeler. The tutor outwitted the apprentice.

A strong opening 15 in both halves exploited Estupinan’s casual monitoring of Bryan and Wieffer not catching a whiff of Schade running past him.

A good head coach puts in the hard yards like the team and his attention to detail is never in doubt and Thomas’ game plan are usually easy to follow from the sidelines. Simple but technically on point most weeks, it‘s a pleasure to watch Thomas plot our way through the Matchdays week by week.

Occasionally like the team he makes it harder, A Rusty Rico for a Buzzing KLP and a Flicky Jensen for the Pass pass pass of Yarmo on paper at 3-1 and them down to 10 made it on paper fair enough, but it made the last 25 a wince and watch.

But in the glow of a glass of red last night, Thomas knows that whilst his reputation enhances, Hurzeler a PL manager novice at Brighton judging by their toxic away end won’t pass his probation.

Frank doesn’t hold us back and more importantly we don’t hold Thomas back.
It’s a happy managerial marriage with a lot of fun days in the sun, yesterday was just another.
300 games in and it seems we are both not bored and at peace in admiration with each other and that in this day and age says everything.

9 Mil release clause, Is this true?

However, securing Frank’s services would come at a cost. Reports indicate that his release clause exceeds £9 million, and while Tottenham admire his achievements, they are reportedly hesitant to trigger the clause at this stage. The club’s sporting director, Johan Lange, is known to value Frank highly and previously attempted to bring him to Aston Villa, further strengthening his candidacy.

If it happens they could melt the trophy down and remould it into a tabletop statuette.

Most teams have the same story to tell: I think it’s more “normal” than you think.
They really don’t. A few teams have had big injury problems as we have had, but it is rare to see any team in the league suffer the amount of injuries that we have had to the first eleven & still be able to compete to their best.

There is a reason why Liverpool have won the league so easily, why Fulham have been able to be spoken about as Champions League/Europa League contenders, why Villa have done so well competing in two major comps, why Forest have been top 5 all season, why Palace & Everton have become so safe so soon. Their first eleven and squads in general have mostly been fit, or they have come around and found a good general fitness level for half of the season.

Contrast that to Spurs, Brighton, Bournemouth, City and Arsenal all falling short of their expected end of season form.

We aren’t as bad as some of these teams, we’re worse than others.

Injuries have had their toll on us this season & on top of that we don’t have the budget a lot of the teams mentioned have to replace players.

Thomas Frank

Dasilva and Janelt would essentially alternate depending on the team we played in the Prem, but if one didn’t start they would get subbed on. Dasilva’s importance to the first team really can’t be overstated, when he’s fit he is a game changer.
You can have 20 players on the match squad and with the injured there are 24
Which 4 you put out to put the 4 injured players?
