Hi
I used to be a season ticket holder but due to work now live in Glasgow.
I manage to get to a lot of the northern away games but home games have been a bit too much for the finances ,however I have a work trip to London when we play Bolton at home,
my question is if I purchase a club membership would it then let me buy a ticket for that game ?
I don't want to spend £20 on membership for one game if I don't have too (I have plenty of purchase history just no memberships)
Or is it better to just leave it and close to the game try and get a ticket on the GPG as sat home games don't appear to go on general sale anymore?

I would've thought you would be able to buy a ticket for that game with purchase history.

Having said that, I'd get a membership anyway. You're bound to use it again at sine point.

I'm in a similar boat, non member but with a purchase history so can buy tickets through the website no problem.

With all due respect to Bolton...........would've thought tickets for this will also be on sale to those without previous purchase history..............

I'd phone the club - they tend to be very helpful and unjobsworthy about helping fans get tickets and given that you're an exiled former ST holder I'm sure they'd (off the record) relax the rules to let you get a ticket.

Thanks for the offers of help I am now sorted cant wait not been to Griffin park for 3 years because of my exile to Glasgow

Maybe I was unlucky but that wasn't my experience. Had a ST for a few years in the 90s, but then because of work/travel commitments which meant I'd miss most midweek games and some Saturday fixtures too, it made more sense just to pay on the gate and rely on friends to blag tickets on the rare occasion they were needed.

Of course, pay at the gate = no purchase history, tickets obtained through third party = no purchase history, and tickets to Wembley, Cardiff etc... booked through ticketing agencies = no purchase history. STs in the nineties? Sorry mate, our records don't go back that far.

Since moving abroad about 10 years ago, it's only this year it has become an issue, since up until now I could usually turn up and pay at the gate (but of course... with no purchase history).

There are helpful people about, but as I said at the start, I may perhaps have been unlucky with the ticket office.

I am Dundee United fan and have moved to London. Have a mate visiting at the weekend and we both fancy going to your game v Millwall. I called the club but obviously have no purchase history. Is there anyway round this so that I can buy 2 tickets?

I doubt it. For all the club know you could be a Millwall fan, even if you don't sound like one.

Yeah the accent would have to be quite a cunning disguise! The guy on the phone was fair about it saying he couldn't sell directly, but was hoping there may be a ticket website or some other way round it.

Think we'll do just that. If we can't get a ticket will just spend the afternoon in one of the pubs. Any recommendation for which boozer is best to head to?

Are you a Season Ticket holder or club member of Dundee United? If so, you could approach the Brentford ticket office suggesting that you have 'proof' of your credentials and could visit the ticket office personally? Unfortunately, there is going to be additional scrutiny for a match against Millwall and you've been caught in the spotlight, the club doesn't have much flexibility. The police will on the look-out for ticket touts, too.

If you're looking for a pub recommendation, you've got to do all four; there's one on each corner and doing all of them is a bit of an away fans' right-of-passage. The New Inn has the most celtic (lower case) connection, though.

You could try offering to buy tickets to all 4 remaining games, since you now live in london. THis would prove to the ticket office that you are not 'wall in disguise

I think he has probably had enough of Celtic over the last week or so.

I have previously been a season ticket holder at United but as I'm down south I now just pay for the club's media service.

The game against Fulham is open to all buying tickets. Why not ring and request tickets for this match thereby creating purchase history and buy the Millwall tickets at same time if allowed.

I think Tidy is 'into' Dundee United, at the mo'.

Thanks. Really appreciate your offer, especially since you don't know me.

It illustrates the point I was making I suppose, which is that there are some very helpful people about, and there are people like you prepared to help out.... As a result, I've usually managed to beg tickets for matches I could attend when I've been back to the UK. Sorted for Easter, thanks to... well you know who you are (although Fulham away I've got the ticket courtesy of a Fulham supporting mate, so will be in the main stand, sat on my hands, with a handkerchief in my mouth, and on my best behaviour... although that may be sorely tested if we score another last minute winner!).

I was just unlucky when I contacted the ticket office I suppose. Might have been a bad day for him.

(ps - a rash offer, I may take you up on it sometime :-) )
