Ticket touts outside!!!

With tickets not being sold on the day ticket touts have arrived at GP and seemed to be doing a decent trade yesterday. Bloke in the pub comes now and again was refused a ticket at 12.00 because they weren't allowed to give him one despite having previous history albeit limited of purchasing tickets... He then bought one off a tout for £35. shame there can't be some provision by the club!'nn

Otherwise touting is fought to get bigger

There was. Tickets have been on sale for weeks. He could have bought a club membership and tickets well before Saturday. If someone buys 2 tickets this season from a tout at those prices, they may as well have bought a membership in the first place!

He is an irregular walk up fan whose mates normally sort him out tickets in advance for all ticket games but he assumed wrongly he could get one on the day if he turned up early enough.... He is more aware now and hopefully won't get burnt in the future...

My point is though by not allowing tickets to be sold on the day you are encouraging touts.. Denying brentford of revenue and increasing the chances of away fans in home ends

Is there anything stopping the release a controlled number of unsold tix on the day for cash at the turnstile and fill the ground with those who are prepared to take a chance?
Add £5 over the online booking price: that's enough of a tariff difference to encourage advance sales and not so much you couldn't justify it to the missus!

How do you ensure those tickets are only bought by home fans?

Not wanting to be pedantic but this incident does not deny the club revenue, the ticket was bought in advance and whether it was sold on or not Brentford got their money. In fact if the touts bought a large number on a gamble that they could sell them then the club could actually come out on top.
However by discouraging/denying on the day purchases there could be loss of revenue, this would be hard to quantify though.

Yes because not tickets are available on the turnstiles and how do you know who these people were. The guy in the Ticket Office told us yesterday a bloke came up insisting he was a Brentford fan and wanted tickets and he had a Charlton tattoo on his arm!

Did you report this criminal offence?

This is a nice idea but I believe the regulations state that if the Away end is a sell out then the game has to be all ticket, so as to avoid the obvious issue of away fans getting into areas with the home fans.

Touts at the Bees is funny but seriously I worked at the egg chasing HQ down the road and came into contact with touts & illegal street sellers on a regular basis, generally they are not pleasant characters. They have also been a challenge for the egg chasers at Harlequins as well!
It's an issue which Brentford, the Police and Council will do well to 'nip in the bud'.

It's a learning process. Your mate learnt he can't amble up and get in so next time he'll be prepared. There will be a few occasions when this will happen to other people but soon everyone will get it!.

Precisely, he knows now! However, I'd like to know, as would BFC, I'm sure, how these touts came by these tickets. Are they already on the database? If so, they should be removed after appropriate investigation.

Police have better things to do it was fairly obivious touts were active around princess royal catching those disappointed punters returning from ticket office

And all this about buying a membership,I have been trying for the last few weeks......can someone tell me ..............HOW do I get on the database?

Ticket touts outside!!!

E-mail the club with details of your situation. I would imagine if you can clearly prove you are a Brentford fan then in exceptional circumstances they will get you onto the database. If you can't prove it then I think the club has no choice but to say "no" until the next window for memberships opens again.

I find it strange that you have just joined the GPG and now want to get on the database......are you really a Bee?

You can't, as yet, join as a member. The next opportunity will be in October I believe. Due to the all ticket matches expected. Yes, there are spaces in the seats and terrace, but if everyone got themselves sorted before the kick off, a lot of those who turned up on the day, ticketless, would've been able to get in and bought a ticket online for collection. If they cannot get online, or call the ticket office directly, then there's not an option for those supporters anymore, unless they know a fellow supporter who has a computer or a phone.....

If you had read my other posts you would know the reason!
I go back to the day's of Coote,Thomson,Gelson,Brodie,Houston,etc,etc,etc.....attended first match when I was six.....now knocking on the door of 60!!!
Trialed for youth team in the 70's and born and bred in Greenford!!(Cowgate Road).......used to get the E3 in my teens and also done some "kick off's" in Southend etc, remember the day Rangers tried to burn "our" stand down and that it was supposed to be a friendly!!.........last game attended was QPR v Brentford when I was bar manager at Harrow Boro ( 2001/02 season )
So there you have it, a TRUE BEE.....but been a busy one for a long time and missed my live football !!
Are there any rules about when you can become a fan or start back with your team of youth?

I am not really into online forums (not got the time and rather talk face to face) but joined here to see if I could get any answers to WHY I couldn't become a Bees Member and buy tickets now my youth days are over and I have more time on my hands!!.......see you at Bournemouth ( hopefully) Rotherham (possibly) and Norwich in Jan (definitely, but may have to be in yellow end if I cant get tickets from BFC.......that will do my head in !!!!).would love to come to the home matches but can't get a ticket !!.............

One smart @rse nearly got himself into an argument with me, I thought he was a Bee
but he soon showed his colours when he diagreed with everything I said abouit Brentford.
A complete tool.

The club should sell tickets on the day at the ticket office, it's going to cost them a few quid this season I think!
