Simple to sum up really.
Thought we played wrong tactics (5 at back, no one knew what they were doing, was a shambles at times in first half), wrong players (Hutch and Smith ahead of Evans/Tabb?????), O'Connor up front and not in midfield, no Peters. We were crap until Peters and Tabb were on, no one was taking control of the ball.
Also, individual problems cost us. I don't care what any one says about the first pen and the sending off, both were correct decisions: Beadle threw an elbow, didn't connect but was blatant and head-high, and Sonko was charging after the striker like his life depended on it, it was obvious he'd never get there in time but chose to slide anyway. Bl00dy awful individual errors, especially cannot believe Beadle's, the guy is supposed to have experience but everyone knows you can't throw an elbow and get away with it.
Pissed off really, could've made a game of it with the right tactics and players but we didn't.
3rd goal was good from a set piece, and couldn't tell about their 2nd pen, too far away. Ours was probably the right decision, but Tabb definately played for it, was looking to fall over - for that reasons, many refs wouldn't have given it.
That was Fat Bee Slim's report under my name!
I felt the sending off harsh (on another match reported on the radio the journo stated that an (more) definate elbow deserved just a booking.
First goal poor marking against a solid and experienced forward.
The first pen was dubious as the ball was out of play when BOTH players clattered in to each other. Ref booked Sonko, if it was for dangerous play it should have been a red, otherwise - no pen!
Our pen was definate altho' Tabb was playing for it.
Their third was a very good header from a dubious free kick. Fourth, don't know why as too far away!
Team came back well when Tabb and Peters came on but until then did not seem to know what to do - Dobbo left the left winger in acres of space all afternoon.
Tactically, why no Peters at the start and more important why Hutch at all? He has played little part in the pre-season preparation and Peters looked 'up for it' when on the pitch - as
did Tabb.
Evans presumably injured as not even on the bench.
Ref gave us a lot of free kicks early on, correctly, then someone told him the home side were in white so after that we got nothing.
Overall, not as concerned as some as we always lose at Tranny and the way we came back was good, althgough inevitably an inexperienced 10 against a very experienced 11 were always going to tire as the home side used the full width of the pitch to keep us running around (why don't we do that when we play against 10!).
