Transfer deadline date???

What with Noades saying he wouldn't be surprised if two new faces are brought in by this date, when in fact is it??? I know it is usually a thursday so presume it is this or next weeks thursday........ Anyone know for certain.

Transfer deadline date???

It should be the 21st, as the third thursday in march

Transfer deadline date???

It's usually the third Thursday in March, but maybe it's earlier this season as everything finishes earlier because of the World Cup.

Incidentally, I can't see any loan signings breaking into the first team if we stay free of injuries and suspensions. But a reserve central defender who can also play full back would be handy, as would a central midfielder, or even a striker.

Transfer deadline date???

We have 5 games left of the season after the 21st, so can't really see the point in waiting till then, if we have any intentions of getting anybody, get 'em now.

Transfer deadline date???

The problem we have is Gibbs - 9 bookings, Powell, Ijah, Sidwell each with 8 so the dreaded suspensions could bite us in the arse just when we don't need it.

Agree with Edmund, we probably do not need a new first X1 player but we could certainly do with a Robert Quinn type player for the bench and able to fill in should any of the above miss games.

We could get Quinny for nothing Oxford think he is sh*te!!!

Transfer deadline date???

If we need a loan striker, why look any further than R A P L E Y. He's not 1st choice at Colchester at the moment.

Transfer deadline date???

I think frankly we're better off with Peters ir O'Connor.

As for Quinn, who was always pretty decent for us in a utility kind of way, it is true that Oxford think he is absolutely terrible - shame really, he was young with some potential.

Transfer deadline date???

I agree lets see what Peters can do first. If Lloyd and BBB are injury and susspension free they will play out the season.

I think we need another centre midfielder as backup, possibly who could play at the back.

Transfer deadline date???

so the people want a striker and midfielder, rob quinn's name is mentioned, yet no-one makes the obvious connection.....

let's get Andy Scott back

(see if he can prove the doubters [me!!] wrong!!)

Transfer deadline date???

transfer deadline day is the 28th mar

Transfer deadline date???

I think Quinn back as a utility bench player is a good call for a loan move until the end of the season. However after we took Carl Hutchings back on loan a couple of seasons ago, (or was it last season?) it was clear he wasnt the same player, pehaps the time at oxford has been just as cruel to Quinn.

I wonder if there are any Palace fans who contribute who may be able to throw a few names into the hat as I assume Coppell and Noades will know a few boys from there.

Maybe an experienced centre forward would be useful as well. Anyone know where Stan Collymore is?

I think the fact that Quinn struggles to make a distinctly average, mid-third division side says it all. The man is no longer good enough for us.

Transfer deadline date???

I would agree that having Quinny back is not a good move. Firstly he is porbably not good enough, and when he went o Oxford he must have had a wage increas and would possibly want too much from us

Transfer deadline date???

conversely, i'd be right behind a move for quinn - always rated him as a player, and i believe Stevie Coppell was the man who gave him his debut at Selhurst.... just the sort of dependable player who can provide cover that we'd need at this time, and surely the chance to escape oxford would give him a lift...

Transfer deadline date???

It might give him a lift, but I think he's a very different player to the one we had here.
Furthermore, him and Scott were reported to have doubled their wages when they left (hence, going to a team on the verge of relegation), and thus he might not be willing to return for the drop in wages we'd undoubtedly offer.

Transfer deadline date???

hmmm, i know what you mean, but he might be that glad to be out of there!

and when you say he's a different player, how do you mean? i haven't seen oxford at all, i assume you're working on the basis that if he can't get in their team he must be sh*te? well, it might be a different system, or a sh*te manager??

Transfer deadline date???

One of my best mates is an Oxford season ticket-holder, and has been to at least 25-30 of their games this season.
He never shuts up about how sh*t Quinn is. I assure him that Quinn was quite good at Brentford, and seemed a bargain at £50k. He, however, is adamant that Quinn is even more of an anti-climax than Peter Fear (remember when he was good?).
I confess I haven't seen him play, but 8000 Oxford fans can't be wrong, especially when you bear in mind they reckon Scott is probs their best player - something we would NEVER have thought.
Basically, Quinn is now pony. You can't sign a player because of what he did a few years back. Otherwise, people would all be clamouring for the likes of Wanchope etc. Players change.

Transfer deadline date???

I heard that Bristol City were interested in Paul Gascoigne. Now Gazza would be a landmark signing for Brentford!

Transfer deadline date???

Like we could afford that drunken lout's wages...

Transfer deadline date???

Burnley have tried to sign him loan but Everton refused.

Transfer deadline date???

We have Kev O'Connor, Mark Peters, Julian Charles and Mark McCammon for attackers, Paul Gibbs, Eddie Hutchinson, Matt Somner, and Jay Tabb in midfield, and Danny Boxall, David Theobald, Lee Fieldwick, Jay Smith and Jay Lovett in defence, and Alan Julian in goal.

Why are we talking about bringing in cover? What are these players paid for if not to be cover?!

Transfer deadline date???

Would you really be confident in playing any of that lot in defence, bar Boxall, Mr T bee. In midfield Hutchinson looks to have potential, along with Tabb and not forgetting willow. Up front...... defo start panicking unless Peters, if needed, comes in and produces his 'academy' form!!

Transfer deadline date???

Theobald did a pretty good job for us at the end of last season, and Jay Smith has looked competent in his few brief appearances

Won't 'Theo' be playing tomorrow, I think Powell's banned.

Transfer deadline date???

is he banned? has he reached another 5 bookings, if so probably be theobald to partner unless he puts box at right back and dobbo at the heart? not much height though?

Transfer deadline date???

was it the wycombe ldv whatsit when evo got injured?
i thought tabb and theobald and smith had good games... cant remember who the other 2nd string were... and now smith is playing in the 1st team. theo looked pretty safe with ivar, and tabb, maybe not spectacular, but solid, is better than a quick splash out knee jerk type thing.
our squad is good enough. we will get promoted.
