I think fans willing to come just to see Shipperley play would be few are far between, he isn't the sort of player to put bums on seats, that was more for the likes of Gascoigne and Ian Wright in the twilights of their carears.

only players who could bums on seats at our level are the likes of Sheringham/Shearer. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch a Shipperley type player who's not international class.

I have done abit of scouting around and found a few players that are available, some are training with other clubs, but if they can't get deals maybe The Bees could jump in. The players are:

Gareth Farelly - Midfielder- currently on trial with Leicester but looking at there midfiled I couldn't imagine him getting a deal.
Carl Asaba - Striker - Again on trial with Leicester, wages could be an issue on this player.
James Lawson -striker - Just returned back to Southend from Grimsby, as he wasn't getting games. Young and energetic could be well worth a loan move.

or if Brentford are interested, take a look at Mark Reed of Buxton Town FC, scored 42 goals last season, and since joining in 2002 has scored 79 times in 123 starts

I think Bees fans will be well aware of Asaba: he had a couple of very good seasons for us. Leaving aside the money, I think he's probably well past his best now - pace was one of his main assets, and that goes with age.

Also, if Owusu ever gets back to fitness it's probably not another striker we would want.

If money were available (a big if) , Farrelly might be an option as I think he has some Premiership experience (Villa?). However that probably suggests his cash expectations might be unrealistic for us

You are quite correct, he has had Premiership experienance with Bolton, Everton and Wigan. He also had a stint as player/manager of Bohemians, but was sacked in August and has now pitched up at Leicester City.

Neil Shipperley fits that bill and it would do Sheff United no harm to loan him to us as the alternative is he stays and just does what Fitzgerald is doing at Brentford. We could propbably pick up about a eighth of his salary so it would save SUFC some money but we have got to hope that some Div 1/2 or conference club comes in for Willock and/or Fitzgerald for it to have any merit.
He would fit in with the new boys cos he used to spend all his spare time in Kingston Bars and nightclubs as well!!! lol

Ships is on about 12-13K so £1500 we could afford because of the bums on seat effect he would have. Warnock does not want to loan him out for less than full wages recouperation apparently and we have been trying to persuade him otherwise.

Remember we can still get players in on loan and move some the other way which we have started with Fitz at AFC Wimbledon and I expect more to follow in coming weeks. It will be a test of the financial juggling skills of Mr Griffin coupled with his knowledge of players and managers. The longer we are up there challenging but losing 1000 fans on the budgeted home gates the quicker they will have to lure the fans back.

You're deliberately missing the point of course but if you want to intepret things for your own self-gratification, go ahead.

There's nothing wrong with a journeyman forward, which is what he he is. He's a very good player - but people won't be getting in their cars on a Saturday because we've signed Neil Shipperley. They might if his signing leads to a few results though.
