Not sure if this is the right forum, but he has left Leicester and joined Northampton on a short term deal to end of season - Would anybody have liked to have seen him play for the Bees? We were interested in him when he was at Cambridge and Noades was obsessed with signing Big strikers (e.g Pinamonte, Fortune-west, Broughton & McCammon!). Maybe he's always been a 3rd div player, sorry league2.

Trevor Benjamin

Disagree with Bigbee, I have always rated him.

We tried to sign him together with Martin 'i hate you' Butler when they were both at Cambridge.

Would be good to get on short term deal IMHO. :sorted:

Dont think so. Admittedly I have not seen him play recently but he has has-been written all over him. We could have done with him 3 years ago but not now i think. At this rate we'll be sponsored by Sanatogen!!

With Butler and Benjamin back when Noades wanted them we could have got promoted. And had an even bigger debt.

I saw him last season on loan at brighton - dreadful and disinteresteds until MIckey Adams came to a game. A lumbering oaf.

He is pants and Cobblers fans talk of his bumbling open goal miss on his debut.
They have a player called Mark Richards who has virtually been injured all year, should he come back soon then TB will be getting woodworm up his harris.

He has just joined Northampton on a free.

He had 4 torrid seasons at Leicester and never established himself. Perhaps he got into a comfort zone as he was earning an astronomic salary.

He is young enough to come again at a lower level but unless he has taken a massive pay cut I doubt we could afford the VAT on his wages let alone the principal.

He has scored a goal every other game so far for Northampton (2 in 4) and did so while out on loan at Brighton (5 in 10)!

Stats lie, we have a forward with 6 goals in 25+ games who should be playing in the prem. ;) :fishing:

Cobblers cut down on their wage bill, thus Hargreaves offered £500 a week and Trollope released etc etc.
Wouldn't think TB is on as much as you imagine. I think he comes from Kettering and all his clubs (bar the Bummers) have been pretty centrally located.

Trevor Benjamin

I would. The deal is only until the end of the season - when TB's current contract with Leicester expires.

I would assume that Leicester are picking up most of the last 6 month's worth of a huge salary.

As far as next season is concerned, all bets are off, it will be up to him how he performs and who will offer him a new deal at a vastly reduced amount.

So as I said, Cobblers won't be paying him much.

NLB he has no contract with Leicester it was terminated by mutual consent he is a Northampton player until the end of the season

Trevor Benjamin

Agreed, Northampton are probably paying him not too much however given that his Leicester contarct was for £9K per week, yes £9K, Mr Benjamin is not hurting too much.

The problem is whether he can reconcile himself to his change in status. Will he buckle down and prove he merits a new and hopefully large contract somewhere, or will he slip out of the game too young?

If the former than Northampton might benefit from a motivated if not fully match fit striker hungry to make a point, if not then he will be a waste of space.

Given that he has not played regularly for a few years or developed a partnership - remember him with Martin Butler - mustard ! I think it is likely that we have seen the best of him and that he will slowly drift out of the game.
