Trialists?

Was Barnard playing as right-back? I wouldn't have thought that a priority (given O'Connor, Pead, Osborne and Dark as options there) unless the 2nd half pairing of Pead and O'Connor in midfield is something TB has in mind

First half at rb, second half as a holding midfielder. Didn't impress greatly in either position but probably better in midfield.

Playing as the holding midfielder is slightly easier when you have two centre midfielders infront of you though. We were far too narrow in the second half.

I was very impressed by Mr Shakes on the Right Flank, Very quick and work hard too.

eff all end product though. He'll need to improve a lot to be worth a deal. Looks like the reports from the Swindon fans were spot on from last night.

I disagree with that, I believe he put a couple of nice balls in the box, but sometimes cut and turned back to goal when maybe he should have crossed.

I prefer him any day over Paul Brooker!!! Ricky actually put some effort in, and he'll sh*t the life out of defenders with his pace.

The only triallist i thought was worth a mention was the No.8 Gary Smith, i thought he played well, especially in his tackling. the No.2 Barnard was ok but no better than what we have already. the No.11 was quiet, didn;t do that much. the No.7 Shakes didn't impress me.No better than Brooker/Peters/Ide. The No.20 wasn't commanding enough up front as Thorpe was.

whoever nick wright is, he's worth a look. he was strong, and fought for the ball, getting through the defence to try a shot or try and make a pass. one of the best players on the pitch all match, and played only 45 mins :( shame.

I had a conversation with The trialist Knisiel on the tube back to acton
he told me that ALL of the trialists including himself have been turned down.
He also said that he believes that Thorpe has only signed for the money and he is looking terrible.Also he told me that Swindon are interested in brooker.
And that butcher desperitley is trying to get rid of brooker and heywood.

1) hes knows alot for a trialist about other players
2) If true we're going to get much better trialists in
3) this is the more unfortunate option- we have to off load before we can offer any new deals.Dyke is a **** with a big mouth and feck all back up substance and hes the last one you'd like to be with in a trench in the 1st WW,but being chairman is still " fun "

He was being genuine . He was verry pissed off to be honest he told me he was going to drink hes troubles awayrofl

This is absolute b*llocks and will be proved when some of the so called trialists who have been turned down, turn out this week at the friendlies.
1) Because there are players who are on trial who TB and AS want to sign and 2) Because a trialist wouldn't know jacksh*t about what TB and AS want to do with players under contract - this may be sour grapes talking as the German may have been turned down or you are making up a load of old tosh.:nono:

i dont think what the other guy is saying is true from what i have heard it looks like tb whants to offer contracts to ricky shakes mkdons smith and the german under 21 like tigerflyer said we will see on tuesday if any of them are still on trial

I can say now Gary Smith will be signing as TB has called him in monday, plus his agent was sat with him during the game and TB was discussin where to play him, in front of the bak 4 or in the middle, garys agent said he'd be mad not to sign him. I know this cause im Garys best mate probs why this is my only post so far but he'll be the best player in the team ask mkdons fans who didnt wanna see him leave just had a bad season thru injry, stays fit, championship player in leage 2, best signing i reckon u can hope for.

Well I guess we will see on Monday but he was the only one of the triallists that I was impressed with on Thursday so I would be quite happy to give him a deal

IMO we should not be rushing to give anyone a deal after a fair 45 mins against Staines.I wasn't impressed with him yesterday either.Smith may well be a decent player but i would like to see abit more from him first.

To be fair, he has been training with the sqaud for over a week now, so TB/AS will have a fair indication of what he is all about (attitude, one of the lads, ability, etc).

I saw him a couple of time in his MK days and thought he was a good steady player on both occasions.:sorted:

I know MK Dons fans were unhappy to see Smith leave. Living in Mk I get a bit of info on the players and I think he was just unlucky with injuries last year. Before that he had some good reviews and I think he would be a decent adition to our midfield if he stays injury free!

It's Monday. It's 2030 in my time................so what has happened:D No doubt, from what I have seen he should be a good signing. So cooper has he or hasn't he signed. With a few more trail games to go especially against some good teams al Reading/ Chelski and Soton if I was TB and AS I would be biding my time..just my opinion :wave:
