Trophies & silverware
It’s the time of year when the shiny stuff is flying in all directions. I realised today that I have favourite trophies, just as Australia were presented with a giant gold and silver cotton bud at The Oval. It’ll get ‘misplaced’ with someone’s golf clubs.
I love the classics, Jules Rimet, FA Cup, Wimbledon (men’s and women’s). Then there’s the utter monstrosities like that ice hockey one that takes about 3 people to lift. My latest favourite is the gold never-ending spiral thingy awarded to the Giro d’Italia winner. Chic, sleek, and (probably) Italian.
