TW20 Property Wanted

I am looking to buy a property in TW20 or close by that has a minimum 2 bedrooms and is "in need of modernisation". I'll pay a finder's fee to avoid an estate agent or else the reward will be the pleasure of knowing you've done someone a favour.

This will probably be a 2 bed flat or maisonette that has either been a long-term buy-to-let or long-term occupation by elderly occupants. I'm not looking for a reconstruction job. It has to be ready for occupation, just needing a refresh of things like bathroom, kitchen, carpets, etc.

My budget is up to £200k and I have a mortgage in principle. I can move on it very quickly and will make an unreasonably low offer! PM me if you have any sensible suggestions.

Thanks, but I'm not looking for a retirement property... I'm not giving up just yet!

It just seems better than digs for Ollie at Royal Holloway for a couple of years; if we can get something to turn around, it may save some money and right now must be a good time to buy.

Yes, we've looked at both. First needs a bit of TLC (and great views of the cemetery) but they've just dropped the price. The second has a garage, which is useful, and off the main road.

We've started targeting flats off Laleham Road, Staines. It's farther out from the Uni but we feel that the resale value on those close in is very Uni-dependent and the general resellability restricted. I want to be able to off-load quickly, if necessary.

I've now got a mortgage agreed in principle, so it's decision time! Are you at RHUL?
