Undeserved Points

Had a great day today visiting your club. It's a long time since I've had as good a day at an away game. Great crac in the pub before game. An unbelievable welcome at the ground from the stewards. I've never had a steward shake my hand before and tell me to enjoy the game. We then got 3 undeserved points and left the ground with the stewards wishing us a safe journey home!
Today was like visiting my gran when I was a kid. You get there and it all looks so old fashioned but within 5 mins your having a great time.
Thanks for a great day brentford and the best of luck for the rest of the season. CHEERS.
P'S we stole the points today!

Fair play. Gracious (in victory). Good support at your end, as expected. Now go and decorate your gran's house for her.

Useful feedback on the stewards, sounds like we need some more of those in the Ealing Road based on some posts a few weeks back!

Good luck for rest of season.

****ed off with being patted on the head by 'big clubs' and getting ****ed over by star struck refs....feel your post comes across as a bit condescending, but good luck back in the PL 'where you belong' next season.....

That steward is a convicted sex offender from Sunderland and you may remember he apologised, smiled and breathed unusually deeply as he patted you down checking for something in your jeans.
I'll send him your best wishes.

I reckon you've got a novel in you SOB. Kind of Barbara Cartland with a gritty twist?

Ah you were one of the Newcastle fans in New Road then.

Stewards love and treat away fans with respect but doesnt reflect their disgraceful treatment of home fans

Sounds about right only at GP do they roll out the red carpet for away fans and treat the regulars like ****.

sounds about right........you could literally be an away fan, jump up and down with a flag in the new road and the stewards wouldnt bat an eye but god forbid you ask them to remove the said away loon as its much easier to throw the brentford fan out........all in front of the most useless old bill seen in many a year since bearded **** and his accomplice..........with villa, leeds and most especially qpr at home still its a recipe for disaster.....but BFC still dont get it.....idiots

I think its going to take it kicking off for the club to actually address the problem.

I was speaking to a certain young gentleman yesterday who recently was forced to miss one home game as well documented on here. Apparently when he was asked to visit the club and discuss his actions with the stadium manager he mentioned previous examples such as Portsmouth and Celtic. Amazingly the stadium manager was, apparently, unaware of these previous incidents. Fecking scandalous if true. Like you say, Leeds, Villa and Rangers could be interesting if the club don't buck up their ideas re away fans purchasing in home ends etc.

One thing I did see yesterday which I haven't seen in years was newcastle fans getting moved from the home end (corner near away fans dug out side) into the away end. Good stewarding I thought, however must pi## you off as a home fan. For the record thought the standing away pen could easily have got a couple of hundred more in. Perhaps authorities are over cautious following tragic events in the past.

The capacity is determined by the local authority using a formula based on the time is takes to evacuate the stand in case of an emergency. The exits to our Wendy House are quite restricted, meaning that the capacity is less than can by physically accommodated.

Yeah the terrace capacity was cut to circa1,100 a couple of years ago and the upper seated section which holds 600 is never full even in a sell out I've noticed. Seeing as its a modern stand its a pretty poor design by someone. I think its to do with the exits. You should have seen the previous stand which covered all the flats behind and held circa 10,000. Now that was a stand!

The capacity was cut following the Portsmouth game when BFC proved they cant control away fans in any area of the ground iirc. Might have been a coincidence of course.

That can't be right. BFC can't control away fans in ANY area of the ground. Surely they'd close us down if that was true? Although I'd agree they don't cover themselves in glory in New Road!

I always assumed that even if they've sold all 600 seats, some fans prefer to stand (with their mates?) and so go downstairs to the lower section.

Especially so since we're in the Championship, where so few grounds still have standing sections.

Which is very likely to end up with convictions/banning orders for home supporters. :(

That's an excellent description of Griffin Park.

Most modern stadia are like visiting my nan in the sterile environment of a nursing home, when I was in my late 30s.

I hope our new ground will be different, but I fear my hopes are unrealistic... :(

A Norwich mate told me about an away end steward who is the life and soul, has a laugh with people and enjoys his job. Sounds like Ghtoon met him too. We should get him transferred to New Road, a straight swap with 16.

He's the black, friendly chap in a Bees bobble hat who is always positioned on the away fans entrance to Brook road. As you walk past you'll hear him saying welcome to Griffin Park and having banter with everyone, he's a great ambassador for the club.

He got an award for his friendly welcome to the away fans a year ago. A credit to Brentford and his profession as a steward. Shame there's not 100 of him! lol

Won an award last year if I remember rightly..Walked past him pre-Eastleigh he was welcoming away fans to Griffin Park, home of the Mighty Bees then demanding a fist bump from the fans!
With all the other ***** recently regards stewards feel he deserves a lot of credit...

It does. Dreadful stewarding, and then they kicked out a home fan for complaining about it.

I had a season ticket in Braemer B302 last season, the ticket inspection ladies always made an effort to say hello or enjoy the game using peoples names once they'd read the tickets, a nice touch :sorted: guess the arsehole element have been put on the New Road side because you never know when the family blocks are going to kick off rofl

Mate you are getting old.....asking the stewards/OB to remove a loon? In years gone by a quiet VfTB word would have done the job....still that 'man-bag' isn't going to look after itself is it?

There used to be a very friendly ticket checker at the bottom of the stairs for Braemar 302 (formerly block B). Dark haired girl who would read your name on the ticket and say 'Have a good game *insert name*', even if it felt occasionally like she was trying a bit hard.

Now there's a curly blond haired girl who looks like she wouldn't smile if she won the lottery...

I'm not sure it was that quiet, unfortunately the stewards and Old Bill (since Ken has gone) don't acknowledge Bees fans trying to avoid a proper kick off and that's why the frustration and swearing at their incompetency creeps in and Bees fans become the "problem".

I know I've banged on about it before but it's important and I'm very glad I now sit over in The Paddock as had enough in my last season in New Road with three occasions when diabolical management of a situation coupled with disgraceful attitude shown by OB who clearly favoured the offending away fans illegally in the home end over law abiding season ticket holders requesting action be taken.
I was calm and polite in my initial dealing with Beardy copper and highlighted that there were obviously Pompey supporters in our stand as there were three Portsmouth flags sited on the back wall. I was asked what it had to do with me and why I was upset, when I replied that there had been a club statement requesting Bees not purchase tickets for Pompey fans as they would not be allowed in home areas if discovered and that the group in Pompey colours with flags was kind of contradictory I was told, sit down you're the only trouble at the moment!
I was then threatened with ejection and a banning order if I followed through on my promise that we'd do something if the police or stewards didn't.

Was meant to be a tongue in cheek dig at Voice mate but I take your point - then again the stewards/coppers have been crap at Brentford since the days of "333" (Ken excepted obviously but he was a one-off). I have no problem with away fans sneaking in anywhere (been there myself) as long as they keep their heads down but unfortunately I suspect you are right that it's only a matter of time before something really messy happens.
