VAR offside

In MOTD tonight there were three goals chalked off for where the scorer is deemed to be offside because his upper body is leaning forward beyond the last defender- ridiculous. Something has to be done about this travesty.

After the Lampard (goal) for England v Germany in the South Africa world cup I really wanted VAR to be introduced but they have got it wrong, also just watched MOTD and it was crazy, three good goals ruled out, they need to sort it out

In the Palace game it appeared that it was Zaha's arm that was beyond the defender's foot. But that can't count as offside according to the current laws. It's got ridiculous.

Really spoiling the moment for fans as well. Can't imagine TV companies can be too thrilled to see the number of goals being chalked off and the impact this has on the dramatic content of their offering, despite whatever it might add to the spice of post-match pundit debate.

I posted on a WhatsApp group earlier that the room in Stockley Park should have two rules in huge writing on the wall

1) If it isn’t a clear and obvious error from the ref you don’t review it in the first place

2) If it needs to watched more than twice to reach a decision it clearly isn’t a clear and obvious error and so the refs original decision should stand.

Neither Zaha, Pucci or Brighton player was offside, three perfectly good goals chalked off that were definitely not clear and obvious refereeing errors so shouldn’t have been reviewed.

That was sorted out with goal line technology which works because it’s quick and gives a definite answer. VAR is just someone giving an opinion on something. The 3 offside calls today were nothing short of pathetic.

Easy resolution - don’t use var for offsides

Or let them carry on like before and only rule it out when clear and obvious, but that won't happen either.
