Vending machine idea

I mentioned this in the other vending machine thread, and thought that I'd ask the question here as its Bees related and not general chat..

Would it be a good idea to have vending machines at GP?

I think that it would be a good idea. For anyone not wanting hot food, and just wanting bottled drinks and sweets/crisps, they could get them from a machine (might be quicker too). Would cut the queues down for the main outlet which does hot food and drinks.

I know that the club will have to pay rent on the machines, but I still think that with another 'quick' outlet, it might help the queues.

good idea yes. i can't believe how slow the beer servers are at brentford. they must lose a fortune. can we have a machine full of cans of lager for £2 a go. the club could make a lot of money.

the queues on new road are a nightmare, definately think it would help, good idea!

The Eastern Europeans will jam them with their currency;) No,in all seriousness its a naff idea. Its ok for railway stations, colleges etc who have customers every day.GP business is at most four 6 to 8 times a month, for three hours tops,,so its managable from within. The vending machine co's will either charge for rental of machines or give them " free " and take the takings,or a mixture of both.At these times when we want to keep all profits to the club its a very bad idea.A very basic remedy which has been done before is temporary vendor points around GP( some areas are tight for space I know) .A couple of crates of soft drinks, water, an urn for tea, coffee and eventual delivery of Bovril ;) , boxes of crisps and sweets.Even a pasting table has been used before. If the weather is inclement Im sure we can use cheap gazeebos as well.David, sort it.;) I will offer to help here........should I ? Yes I will actually .The Milky Bars are on me ! sh*t e I didnt order them.

What happened to the bottle bar in the Braemar? Plenty would buy from there then take the bottle into stripes, everyone's a winner

Vending machine idea

wouldn't be allowed, because will the machine take the bottle tops off without spilling anything as the bottle drops to the tray where you get it from!

will never happen for drinks. maybe for food items, but then you'd have a 10 minute queue for them as they'll come up with "CORRECT CHANGE ONLY" !!!!

Never happen.

Vending machine idea

There is a danger of us Eastern European Ealing Road types who have started to venture from our compound at half time, that Stripes will be over subscribed, like our fair isle?

Vending machine idea

sell drinks from pitch side at half time and getting back the peanut man

Vending machine idea

I also think, and I believe it was brought up at the last fans forum, that a canteen that feeds both New Road and Ealing Road will be a good thing for all.

Just trying to throw up new ideas that will help reduce the queues and maybe, just maybe, add more to the sales. I know that a few people turn away on New Road when they see the queue, including myself.

remember the ice cream sellers at the cinema?

Simple solution employed at several other grounds is to get a number of persons with cool boxes or hot boxes:rolleyes: walking around selling these in the stands at half time.

great way to make money for the club......

Several clubs do this and if you get your pricing right and give the vendors change it is quick and easy.

You can sell all sorts hot and cold

You could even have someone selling scarfs / hats save having to scrum down in the shop on match days etc.

I've often thought that some kind of cinema type selling at the bottom of steps in New Road could work.

A simple idea but one that can raise quick revenue, just sell crisps (main flavours will do) and chocolate bars (mars, marathons and milky ways), 50p a pack or bar, bought in bulk and sold throughout the game so you dont have to leave the game to get some quick food. If you know you can get them easily in the ground probably wont bother getting them from outside. Once kids are in the ground they can pester their parents till they give in and its not too much...ikt all goes back to the Nans principles I posted a while back...SIMPLE MARKETTING...BIGGER REWARDS

Vending machines no...not used enough and will be vandalised as soon as they dont work properly

i draw your attention to this post by the current acting CEO of BFC.

it ain't gonna happen................................ as he says, who will take the tops off bottles?

I read that post.. I did not respond directly to it.

Never mind.

Oh, when was the last time you had a bottle top taken off your drink when purchased at the ground, more over when you entered the ground?
As I have never seen it, I made the suggestion. Its not viable. End of.
What about my other suggestion. Creating another outlet that is on the corner of Ealing Road/New Road and caters for both. Meaning access to both ends and gives more options.

I think that's a fair idea if you're suggesting an idea similar to what they do in the US: itinerant vendors who wander round the pitch and the stand (or terraces in our case).

Because of the crowds, it wouldn't work at Liverpool or United, say, but it could well work with choccie bars etc at GP.

Didnt they use to have the kids going around the pitch at half time selling choccie bars and sweets and other stuff bout 2 seasons ago.. well thats what i remember

What's £1 minus 50p again? Erm...

They did have people at the bottom of New Road offering sweets and crisps. I do seem to remember people wanting them to hand deliver it to them rather than get it themselves or request that they throw it up to them, after some unsuccessful throwing of money from the fan and of goods from the vendor I think it was scrapped!lol

when bottles are purchased within the ground, the tops should be removed before handing over to the purchaser, if they don;t do that at present then i bet it will start happening again! As for people entering the ground with bottles, that is the stewards and club's job, ground rules probably don't allow for bottles and cans to be taken into GP but that is another question! as to whether that person is breaking the ground rules thats for the club to decide.

Iirc the club has relaxed rules on people bringing their own food and drink in an effort to not alienate the very people that justify the club's existence in the first place. We'll see what happens when it ceases to be heavy coat weather though.

when i went to the Oval last year they had beer sellers walking around with tanks strapped to their backs, like a diver, full of beer that they squirted into a large paper mug(half litre). They were very popular and very quick to serve and the can walk round the ground or the stands. And thats why everybody gets un-sober at cricket matches apart from the bloody boring game.

They have these at Reading's games as well very popular, Bees could do something like this I'm sure.

They couldn't walk around the ground though, restrictions are in place as to where you can drink alcohol at football matches.

How come you can spend seven hours drinking as much as you like watching a cricket match but can't drink at all for 90 mins ata football match.

Bloody government!

cant people give their stomachs a rest for 90 minutes, no wonder were getting fat in this country

That's true... but they could do a good trade along the back of New Road, Braemar and probably behind A Block where you can drink beer...

Oy - don't you come on here giving solutions instead of problems. :nono:

Because cricket watchers didn't go around beating the sh*t out of each other throughout the 70s and 80s.
Although having been to an AFL game where they allow alcohol in the stadium, the behaviour in there is absolutely disgraceful. Acceptable by Australian standards though, which says a lot. Pro-tip: Don't be there when a Mexican wave goes around. Everything goes in the air including rubbish, alcohol, drink cans, bottles, clothing, the lot. Of course, there'd be national uproar if alcohol were to be banned from sport stadia in Australia, even though they manage to enforce their street drinking laws a lot better than our police can be arsed to.
