Stormy the Spook
You haven't seen me, right.
Vincent Kompany
Just watched his post match interview. What an intelligent, measured and considered man. He will be a top manager. (Not with Burnley, obviously).

Didn’t do too badly last yearWell he isn't showing it so far
True but even on today's showing he needs to change the way he plays . it was obvious from the first 5 minutes playing out from the back was going to put them in a lot of troubleDidn’t do too badly last year
Maybe he will. But he’s very naive if he thinks he can keep this Burnley side in the prem playing like this.Just watched his post match interview. What an intelligent, measured and considered man. He will be a top manager. (Not with Burnley, obviously).
I’ve never understood the Kompany love in. His record in Belgium was nothing more than okay. Had a very good season with Burnley (who had been one of the favourites) and suddenly he’s the natural successor to Pep and being linked heavily with Spurs. Based seemingly on the fact he’s mates with Guadiola.
Plays a style totally unsuitable to the Premier league yet the media still see him has the chosen one.
Meanwhile TF continues to thrive.
That's what Roberts got his first yellow card for.I liked the tactics of time wasting when you are losing it's a new take on the game.
Had a look at their fans reaction, quite a few bemoaning the fact only about 4 of the players who started in the game that won them the championship played today. Up front it's all change.
From their performance, I'm not sure if they believe they will stay up.

Good because we tend to struggle against rose type of teams …I thought Burnley lacked tall athletic players, especially compared to the likes of Everton and Palace, they didn't have any style of play... They look lost
Any more prickly comments?Yes they are a thorn in the side ?
They constantly tried to play their way out from the back & use Cullen as their outlet. Our attacking press & midfield were simply too good on the day & stopped them at source. Like Foster- who is a decent prospect- quickly looked isolated & dejected up front. That is what we would have probably looked like if TF hadn't had the foresight to adapt our free flowing Championship style to a more pragmatic style in our first season back in the PL.I thought Burnley lacked tall athletic players, especially compared to the likes of Everton and Palace, they didn't have any style of play... This is when a good manager changes the style of play, because what they're doing now, will only get them relegated.
He always strikes me as someone who been invited to a wedding but needs to steal a car from the station car park to get there – why else would you be wearing a TWOCer’s hat with a suit?Kompany seems alright as a bloke but his white t-shirt, jacket, baseball cap and trainers combo really irrates me.
Much of that squad he’s been part of building, a bit under radar imho is that they’ve spent £100m in the summer. Too many changes from the league winning squad, some because of too many loans, but also some poor looking buys sinceNo pragmatism, and they’ll pay the price! He probably do well elsewhere with a better squad though!
I was thinking that about Mbeumo, then he got up and scored a worldie!I was baffled at the keeper staying on when he had a niggle - why risk making it worse in that situation?

In fairness to Kompany changed Burnley style of play after nearly a decade of Negative football under the previous management and he had to rebuild the side completely losing both Tarky and Mee on a free. Burnley were a joy to watch last season and stormed that league. However, unless they change and adapt their style they will be relegated. They honestly were the worst side I have seen in the PL since we have been back - but we were also good. Kompany if anything has been naive to think their style can win games in this league.I’ve never understood the Kompany love in. His record in Belgium was nothing more than okay. And there is the problem imo, they need to play ugly if they have any hope of avoiding the drop. Their players can play an attractive style in the championship which as you say helped them to storm the league but they are not good enough to do the same in the Premier league. I can see Kompany getting the sack before he changes their style of play, naive as you say.In fairness to Kompany changed Burnley style of play after nearly a decade of Negative football under the previous management and he had to rebuild the side completely losing both Tarky and Mee on a free. So more like Norwich and Fulham: get promoted, then bin the guys that got you there. We built a squad that was ready for the PL and didn’t go on a spending spree.VK doesn't seem to have a plan B. Similar to us and Norwich they out footballed most teams in the Championship. But thankfully Thomas Frank realised we had to be more pragmatic in the Premier League. Unless VK sorts out his defence they will do a Norwich and go straight back down. Having spent £100M in transfers this season not sure they will have the financial bandwidth to bounce straight back up if relegated.

Good post. There’s no reason why you can’t aim to play an attractive style of football at this level but you absolutely have to do that alongside some form of defensive shape and with work rate and intensity off the ball. You also need to be able to switch things up when it’s not working.
Burnley did none of that. You can’t allow players at this level to play without pressure or they’ll absolutely kill you. You don’t get to play at this level without a lot of ability. Look at Onyeka on sat. Pulled out his best performance for a long time as he was just able to play his game.
Kompany didn’t seem to have done his homework on us either, we were allowed to play out from the back without any great pressure and our two ‘makeshift’ full backs had a lovely day!! Great from our point of view but criminal from a Burnley perspective and raises big questions about VK as a manager/head coach.
