Wally witch hunt

I have to say as a new member to GPG I find it absolutely amazing that there is such a witch hunt aginst WD...seems to me Ron Noades was the target b4...now he has gone and it's now Wally's turn !
We have a board of directors with no cash and no experience...it would appear that no matter who is in charge of our beloved Club the so called "fans" cant wait to get rid and are full of ideas about who will be our saviour...
As a long life Bees supporter I worry about the future of our great Club but if it was left to some of the people on here we would be playing Rymans League football in no time at all...
For goodness sake if Wally goes can you realistically name anyone that would be prepared to take on the thankless job of managing a team decimated due to lack of finance and having to beg borrow and steal players to compliment a bunch of untried kids !!!:( :( :(

Well said. I honestly believe that all the criticisms of Wally are unfounded and that the problems we face are due to the lack of finance, for which Wally cannot be blamed one jot.

Ron Noades - IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!

I've been all the games this season (including the West Brom cup game), I'm a season ticket holder and have been supporting the Bees for 16 years.

I have been left totally frustrated by Wally's tactics and disillusioned by his team selections...he certainly doesn't seem to be able to get the best out of the players. And I don't personally think that there's a witch hunt out against Wally...we're all entitled to our opinions and I think that those who want him to leave the club have valid reasons for it. There really has been little to inspire fans this season.

I didn't do the W2W last season for it all to be in vain and the club to go under 'cause of an incompetent manager who'll lead us down to Div 3 and help our gates to fall to an all time low before too long.

Stop feeling sorry for the guy...feel sorry for us supporters, the ones that work all week and all they want to see is an encouraging performance from their players come the weekend. I'm beginning to lose faith in the team I love and that hurts.

As for who we could get to replace Wally...I'd suggest a player/manager who's coming to the end of his career but wants to move into management and who hopefully would have half decent contacts. :D

Having said all this...I'm off to Rushden on Saturday and I challenge Wally to...

PROOVE ME WRONG!!!

(For all our sakes)

Debbee,I totally respect everything that you have written, and I have only highlighted this paragraph to ask you if you have anyone in mind?I will also be at R&D on Saturday, and I really believe we can turn this situation round.

Thanks Warren!

Someone like Steve Claridge would be ideal...if he was willing to blood himself in Div 2, he's currently player/manager of Weymouth I hear. :D

Yes he is. Joined June 2003.

Re Steve Claridge. After a disappointing last season Claridge was brought in to revamp the team in an attempt to get the club back into the Conference. He is still putting a team together but so far they have gone 8 games without loss. He also has no money and can only get youngsters and rejects but the point is a manager adapts to the level he is working at and Claridge , so far, is showing it can be done.

Wally's Witch Hunt

I don't think anybody is on a witch hunt, the facts are clear, since January 2003 the team have won 6 games out of 30. If this form is taken from August we are relegated. Any Manager with this record would be sacked all we the supporters are doing is highlighting the problems, we can't sack the Manager nor replace him, we hope that the board understands that unless there is a drastic change of form (luck) we are playing Div 3 next season and the hunt for money becomes even harder.

This is my 50th Season at Griffin Park ( I blame my Father) and I cannot recall a more pathetic start to a season, Our tactics are non existant apart from hoofing the ball down the wings to our 3'6" tall strikers, our defending is school boy stuff especially when you see 2/3 Bees players jumping to head the same ball time and time again and our substitutions even more pathetic.

I am one who believes WD doesn't have it to be a Manager, A good Number 2 possibly. I also beleive that Football will always win out, If I wanted to watch the WD method, I could have stayed in OZ and watched Aussie Rules Football.

PROVE US WRONG

that's all we ask....

Absolutely. I would love it, that's LOVE IT if Wally could turn it round, and prove us all wrong. He DOES seem a decent bloke, he DOES talk a good game, and I am DESPARATE for him to succeed.

I don't think he will though. But if he does I will gladly munch down as much humble pie as you care to throw at me.

To excuse Wally from blame for the current run though is ludicrous and in my opinion, if we could afford to sack him - then he should already be gone.

The worries are that the current regular 9 players, P Smith, Dobson, Somner, Sonko, Roget, O'Connor, J Smith, Hutchinson, & Hunt all were part of the team early last season that took us top of the league, without conceding too many goals. They are now all year older with more experience but do not seem to be the same bunch of enthusiastic never say die players they were at the start of last season. Could some blame not be put down to management?
My view is that Wally appears to work his socks off while Thompson & Stannard appear to do very little motivation and tactically on match days.

Some people have had it in for him since he arrived, when he was the junior coach and we were riding high with Coppell I remember some fairly strong internet abuse even then.

I never worked out why, maybe its the Crazy gang connection, maybe because he sounds like Phil Mitchell from eastenders who knows.........I suspect even if we were top of the league somebody would be having a pop.

Totally agree but for that comment to be put into effective use then we must all play our part by vocally supporting Wally and the team.

However it must be understood that to continually snipe and for some to undertake actions that further undermine the brittle coinfidence of the team is in contradiction to the "desperate for him to succeed" statement.

In my opinion BeeReal, us fans can't be held in any way accountable for the lack of confidence in the team. I think the fans have been fantastic and haven't got on the players backs AT ALL really. If confidence is low, then it's the fault of one man, and the responsibility of that same man to re-instill back in the players.

Search engine for these pages are pretty good - could you substantiate this, as I have no memory of this. Absolutely not denying it's true (hell, it might have been me lol) but seems an odd behavour - until you realize what miserablists we can be!
