i know wally cudnt manage real madrid to a win at the moment but his links have certainley benefited the club. for example he got wright who is suppose to be a rising star because he knows bassett, he got may and bull also highly rated players because of his mate wise and he got kit kat who i reckon is pretty good. so he has found good players i reckon he wud make a good number 2 for a new manager

To be fair, those points and his apparent coaching skills mean that perhaps WD has got a good career as a coach ahead of him. At the moment it doesn't look like he has it in him to manage at this level- but there's always the possibility that he'll go on to success somewhere else.

Don't let the fact that he's doing a poor job as Brentford manager blind you to the possibilities that he may have talents as a coach or a scout.

Surely it's a bit hard to qualify the coaching statement given that our form and manor of displays have been very patchy this season?

Wright - May - Kitewhatever - Bull?

Maybe Bull on a good day - but really, if they're the best available - football's in a bad, bad way.

But hey, they're ours to the end of the season, so let's support them.

But good players? Huh!

Blimey...you know it's time to throw in the towel when Larry Signy of the red and white tinted specs starts to slag the players.
Yes, performances have been poor/inconsistent but surely it's time now for us all to stand together and get behind the players who - like them or loathe them - hold our fate in their hands /feet.
Slating the players and management - who read this board - will do nothing but harm which could send us hurtling towards Division 3.
So come on Larry stop slating the players.
Wright is a quality player who needs a goal or two, May is young, has good touch for a big bloke and will improve and Kitamirike is mobile and effective when he reads the game.
Sadly all are young and as a result inconsistent - and there's the rub.

Agree that Ben May has a good touch and has something about him and he could go onto be a very good player if he could add a few more goals to his game.
Kitimirike looks to have raw talent that needs developing. Very good on the ball, reads the game well but can often be caught napping or out of position.

Tommy Wright...I think any one who has seen him reguarly after he came back at the end of December can say he is certainly not 'quality'. Constantly muscled out of challenges, runs with ball into a crowd of players rather than laying it off and I think what lets him down the most is that he dosen't run across the line but runs up and down. The difference between Jay Tabb and Tommy Wright is that off the ball Tabby runs into the channel areas moving the defenders but Wright constantly runs up and down making it easy for the defenders. He has the pace, but needs to use it to better effect.

The fact that he slags every player off when he doesn't receive it dosen't help him.

In Tommy Wrights defence, he looked a good young prospect when he first came to GP - someone must have thought he was useful to be part of the England set-up.

Somehow his stay with us has become torture for him. My view, for what its worth, is that we employ the wrong tactics lumping the ball forward etc instead of playing to his strengths and getting quality crosses into the opponents box but, hey what do I know!

Come on Downes play it on the deck - you know it makes sense!!!

Wright an England player? Sonko, Hunt, O'Connor, Somner also have international caps - and they are ours. But so what? A cap doesn't mean a player always performs for us.

Incidentallty, have you seen May control a ball instantly - he needs a good couple of yards to get it under control. Watch Hunt or Mark Peters to see what I mean.

As for Kite-kat - he isn't too bright holding a defence together is he? That's why Dobson always has to cover him and leave his own man unmarked.

So really, all I was saying is that we have good players of our own - the loanees are not, in my opinion, any better.

As for red-and-white tinted specs - yep, proud to wear 'em. But if you've ever read anything I've said Jim you'll know I have only ever said we should support the team come what may. And I stick by that - they need our support more than ever these days.

And you may have missed the bit at the end of my piece - "they're ours to the end of the season, so let's support them."

BTW - I've never slated the management......and I repeat, the players I mentioned (in answer to someone's comment, note) were not ours really - just loanees who'll surely disappear into oblivion once they leave us - as almost every one of our loan players have done.

Jim , welcome.its been a long time.Occasionally a player gets a bit of grief, but not the team as a whole. Its not the players fault is theyre played out of position ,or told they will lose before the game is it ? Im glad the players and " management " read GPG,I wish the members of the board did :( ;)

wally's contacts

The board say they don't read the GPG but I'm sure anything of worth gets passed on by people. I'd hope they had better things to do like saving BFC than come on a forum.

I think Wright isn't working here, he was sh*t for England when he played last. He would be better off back at Leicester. May is quite a good player now, he wasn't several weeks ago but has improved. Bull looks as good a left-back as we'll get, apparently we are looking to sign him permanently. I'd have Kitimarike as well. A lot of the problems in the team are down to poor management, look at the cack teams in the top half of the table at the moment and we could be doing so much better.

I don't agree on these three. Do you know what Sonko was like before he joined us? Hunt is now a much better player than under Coppell, mostly due to being a senior player, penalty taker, reserve captain, etc. And Frampton has played well when he's not been injured. None of them have gone backwards. :nono:

wally's contacts

I know what Sonko was like when he joined us, and he has gone backwards from there. I still think Hunt is not the player he was even 12 months ago. Franpton (when I have seen him) looks as bad today as when he first played for us. I stand by m remarks that Downes in niether a good coach or manager.

tommy wright wright wright is the biggest disappointment for me. unfortunately i missed his first few games when he was apparently playing outstanding football, everytime i have seen him in recent games he has been a poor shadow and consistently gives the ball away. lets not forget there are some players who have come on in leaps and bounds recently though, hutchinson and rougier for example.
our young team seems to be able to perform well on certain weeks and then struggles on others, the luton game was a fluke result which was down to one inspired luton player more than any weakness on the part of wally.
