Wayne Rooney

Totally agree, I think its immoral and disgusting

Is it immoral and disgusting that actors can earn $10m a movie or a pop star can earn $20m for a world tour and no one moans at them .. its all relative

Wayne Rooney

a movie might gross hundreds of millions of £ profit though....most clubs lose money

Wayne Rooney

Talk of Man United being set to offer him a 300K per week contract.

That actually makes me want to be sick

If Man U offer him that much shows 1) they only think short term 2) they are extremely weak. Rooney throws a tantrum and Man U cave in again. 3) He isn't actually a 'great' player IMO - world class, you are having a laugh.

Wayne Rooney

He'll sign it then put in another transfer request after the World Cup.

He is a great player and deffo World class

Wayne Rooney

He is a good player, World class ??? At domestic levels yes but until he replicates that form in a tournament he will never be truly World class

Interestingly the contract on the table at £300k pw also apparently has clauses in it to the extent he will be consulted on transfers. The world, and MU in particular, has gone barmy !!!!!!

I know you are a big Rooney fan, and I respect your opinion but one has to look at how many 'big' clubs came in for him in the summer. It was only Chelsea. Has never delivered at a major tournament for England and has over the last 5 years had more poor games for Man U than good games - although I accept he has prior to his injury had a good year but then again Murray Jones would stand out in the current Man U side ...

World Class = Ronaldo, Messi, Augero.

Wayne Rooney

There's definitely a difference between "Premiership class" and "world class".

.....not sure Rooney would make the bench in a world class team..........or even get in the squad for that matter.

Wayne Rooney

looks set to sign a 300k a week deal. Is he worth it? doubt it. Rooney wanted out at United twice and on both occasions United have caved in. Embarrassing to be honest. Had the potential to be world class when he first came on the scene but sadly IMO nowhere near in the class of Augero or even Suarez.

5 year deal for £70M.. lucky man..

He has never been world class and given the current England team has little chance of changing people's minds this summer. A typical Sky over promoted English superstar who can't perform outside these shores. As for him as an individual...remember how he treated his pregnant wife.

Wayne Rooney

Oh dear Nick, have to say I disagree vehemently with you, he is good without doubt but when it matters is found wanting. Not in the same league as Ronaldo, Messi Suarez etc

To me World class means consistently brilliant, and someone that does things on a regular basis that take your breath away.

Rooney is consistently 'quite good', but more often than not when he actually tries to do something out of the norm or something that commentators would describe (using their favourite word) as 'special', it goes wrong.

And apart from the volley against Man City, the last time he took my breath away was when I read about him and that Granny.

.......and apparently he didnt take even her breath away.

There is no doubt in my mind that Rooney is capable of brilliance but for me he doesn't do it often enough or in the big games and hence why I don't think he's World class.

David Moyes said
"Wayne Rooney has been the best player in England since I gave him his debut for Everton in 2002"

what a ****ing arsehole..

Wayne Rooney

£300k a week when all he really wants is a tyre hanging from a tree in his back garden.

Wayne Rooney

I seriously question whether he would even suit into our first team

Wayne Rooney

You could run a third division academy for 200 years with that contract.

Which shows how out of touch with reality this is.

Wayne Rooney

Disgraceful!
Just how many prawns will be needlessly slaughtered to pay for this?

Wayne Rooney

Think Roony held all the aces as if he were to leave it would signify that Utd were no longer a top club, as such he has been able to screw them into the ground

No doubt a number of his team mates will be now looking for pay rises

Is he now the highest earner in the world??? Ridiculous

Gordon Taylor and the PFA have a lot to answer for. They pressed for most of the TV money when it became massive, to be paid in obscene salaries to Premiers**t players. A sizeable minority of these, I would venture to suggest are mercenary over this gravy train.

I struggle to blame a union for getting the best pay deals for their members. But the reality is that it's the agents who squeezed the market.

And it's my fault too. I pay a Sky subscription.

Wayne Rooney

Still reckon he will put in another transfer request within 18months. Obscene money involved. Works out as about 6000 granny blow jobs a week. Er, so I'm told.

I think its immoral to pay him that much.
In my mind he's not that good

How much would some of the past players have got , Greeves,Shearer, just to name a couple

Wayne Rooney

it's actually £180k a week net.....

I'm sure it goes to Wayne Rooney Ltd and he pays himself a modest dividend at a lower rate of tax.

Shearer allegedly gets an obscene amount from the BBC for spouting a few cliches with bad grammar, so there are ridiculous wage packets in other areas of football too. Just hope Rooney doesn't embark on a punditry career...

Please God no, he's as thick as two short planks.

Wayne Rooney

It does make you contextualise other professions- doctors, nurses, teachers, and wonder how much they get paid

Agree with all that and there is even something in the contract him being given some kind of ambassador role for the club when he retired....probably doing the rounds of local retirement homes for elderly women.

I suppose he's worth what the market pays him as over inflated as it seems. 'World class' though, not IMHO he's not.

Wayne Rooney

Apart from decent shot power, what makes him stand out? Slow, not agile, poor stamina, limited dribbling/skill. I always have wondered what United, and even England, saw in him

Wayne Rooney

He's just a slightly sharper Denny Mundee.

He may not do it often enough, but he's capable of moments of absolute brilliance. He also reads the game and has an eye for a pass like few others in that Man Utd team IMO. I don't think the comment about poor stamina is accurate either, his workrate is phenomenal. Has he fulfilled his potential ? No, I don't think so, but he's still a very, very gifted footballer to my mind.

Wayne Rooney

Ridiculous amount but they want to tir him to a club who might not be in the Champions League.

Wayne Rooney

Sadly the new contract epitomises every thing that is wrong with the Premiership and top flight football in general , his agent must be creaming himself . Occasional flashes of brilliance for the national team however far from world class as some on here portray .

Wayne Rooney

The thing is , where does it say in wages rules that you have to be world class to earn £300k per week?

Man U will pay Wayne Rooney what they think he is worth to them

Had Rooney left, how much would they have had to pay to get a replacement, £30-£40m? , then add on their wages, most likely be more than the Rooney deal
