Wembley

I am a Wigan fan. I will be coming down for the semi final and I am booked in at the Holiday Inn Brentford Lock, Can anyone tell me if the best way to get to Wembley by Tube, is to go via Boston Manor changing at Acton Town and Rayners Lane?
Thanks
P.S. sorry to have pinched your manager he is doing a TREMENDOUS job at Wigan:banana:

Yeah your route changing onto the Metropolitan Line at Rayners Lane for Wembley Park. BTW if I were staying in London to visit Wembley I wouldn't choose Brentford to stay at. Apart from the fact we've always lost there (bad omen) there are lots of places with much easier more direct routes!

Indeed, such as Ruislip.

Do you run a hotel?

Quickest way is by cab. Straight up 1 road and you're there in a few minutes.
Brentford and wembley are not linked well by public transport even though it's very close.
A few brummie mates of mine stayed in Brentford thinking it was a short tube ride away from Wembley,
they did what i said and got a cab to Wembley, oh, it was a concert, city weren't playing therelol

Thanks for the replies, but The hotel is already booked and there are 6 people in our group so that would mean two taxis... Whats that? £50+....Anyway 4th trip to Wembley in 12 months (and thats a 3 day stay each time)... Us Norhereners aren't made of money <g> Only realised that journeys on Southern Rail aren't included in the Travel card... So It's tube or bus.. Being London marathon weekend all the hotels were EXPENSIVE but the Holiday Inn wasn't to bad, compared to the ones closer to the centre. and with a Holiday Inn you know waht to expect
I'll have another look when we come down for the Final<g>

Get the E8 bus to Hanwell Broadway Uxbridge Road and get an 83 from there straight to Wembley. Bring cans and food probably an least an hour job.

Wembley

Go to a local cab firm in Brentford and book a 6 seater won't be more than a tenner each. Don't let the hotel do it as usually rip you off

Wembley

I always go hanwell to paddington (12 mins on heathrow connect) baker loo line to marylebone or Baker Street and walk. (You could get bus to ealing broadway and get on train to paddington from there.Nice pubs in marylebone (thornbury castle and the beehive are nice)then 12 mins on train to wembley stadium. Bar at marylebone station is nice. Out at wembley stadium station then straight to Wembley plaza for a few beers.

Right, that's probably enough suggestions now, guys - I'm sure we've already confused the Hell out of the poor sod...

P.S. Although seeing as it's only 8 miles from Brentford Lock to Wembley, might I suggest walking?

Wembley

E2 or E8 bus from right outside your hotel to Ealing Broadway station, then no. 83 bus diirect to Wembley high street, I live in brentford and always do that for Internationals ( we dont mention Bees games there ) , probably one hour and fifteen minutes

Mate it will be £6 to £10 each for you in a cab. Stop being negative. You sound like your manager. Enjoy the weekend and I hope you win.

:imwith:

Should be around £40.

Can't you use your parachute payments to cover the cab?

Wembley

Hi Guys thanks for all the suggestions the problem is I'm going with my wife, daughter and grandson, so Guess who will be forking out? A cab both ways would be O.K. if we had been 5 or 6 guys but I'm afraid the budget is pretty much stretched with the rail, fares, hotel, and Travel cards for three days Thats before the Tickets for the game and all the food and beer etc etc. I'm meeting up with some friends in the Bar with the Bobby Moore statue outrside opposite the Stadium Went in there the last three times last year and It isn't the best pint but its O.K.

Definately a cab there, plenty do the people carrier jobbies. Cost me £25 to get to Wembley last year from Brentford. Take your time coming back, wait for the crowds to go, best route is the 83 to Ealing Broadway and either E2 or E8 to outside your hotel. Can do the same going of course too!

Wembley

Thanks again everyone for taking the time to reply. Will probably have something to eat after the game in Wembley and catch the bus back.

Wembley

If you eat in Wembley you won't be making it back......:(

Try Fat Boys in Brentford mid range prices (or price of a two bedroom flat in Hull)

Alternatively there is a reasonably priced Italian next to Northfields tube station beside the sainsburys on E2 route.

It would be approx 20 to 25 quid and you could ask for a people carrier.
Works out to be 4 quid each max and you'll be there in 20 minutes.
Book it with Skyex, our kit sponsor, tell them you support BFC and get a discount !!

That won't wash with the attentive Sky Cabs Staff
Brentford away to Swindon that day, in a promotion decider

E8 then 83 bus to Wembley is a good option but the buses back are overloaded.

They maybe packed when Brentford play but surely not for this game

I live 20 min walk from Wembley and have paid £15 to get a cab to Brentford recently. The walk from Alperton station to Wembley is only about 10/15 mins so I would get off there rather than going up to Rayners Lane and farting about changing again. Always presuming the Uxbridge branch of the Piccadilly line isn't having it's usual weekend closure for maintenance of course.
